wow has it really been that long?

i have been a bit tied up of late with a re-acquaintance with the space marine game giving up my hobby time :P

but now i am getting back into it all with the arrival of the dark vengeance boxset and new rumours

here is the backpack for the sorcerer

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN8130.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN8131.jpg

and after purchasing an airbrush i decided to take the plunge into a strange new place of painting and came up with this

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN8123.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN8126.jpg

and since this warband has expanded i will have to rename it to include everything

cheers kierdale

thanx guys for taking the time to view and reply

Tanith Ghost@since you asked sir here he is,i'm not happy at all with the parchment and will have to go back to it when i have time

Biohazard@you would be correct i am just starting out and am very clumsy with the thing but i love the way the paint blends seem to work.

i cant seem to get the knack of fine highlighting and it may be i need a better brush as the one i got was with a starter set,so i painted on the orange highlights as you can probably see the difference

Mr.Malevolent@thank you sir and jeremy1391@thank you too and what is that mad picture from

cheers for looking and commenting D

thanx for the encouraging replies guys

tanith ghost@ i found the talon pretty easy to put together so much better than the elastic band fiddly landspeeders thoughi found the pin that holds the main thrusters to be tooo flexible

kizzdougs@i am planning something different for the E tenebrae lux thingy just got to check out the rules

kol saresk@there is a whole load of the necroscope books ,it deals with vampires (the realistic ones not the sparkly fairies :D )wearwolves(who keep their shirt on longer than two minutes :D )talking to the dead alternate dimentions ,and a secret branch of gifted agents hunting them down ;)

heres a bit more to the talon including attempting to weather it up

working on the pilot and finishing up today pics to follow sooon

cheers for looking

I know this is a little bit of backtracking, but what was your technique for the battle damage?

I'm sad :( I spent two hours reading this entire thread and some of THE MOST AMAZING models i've ever seen and it was all going to lead up to the grand finale where THIS:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN5767.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN5696.jpg

was painted and placed at the front of this brilliant warband....but now I'm sad -_-

Sorry its just that I LOVE characters in 40k and making a story for each one is so awesome and this guy was possibly the best mini Ive ever seen!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE return to this one and place Vaul's transformation to demonhood at the head of this incredible warband. I'm addicted to this character because he is just SO COOL!

Serioulsy though, everything here is simply amazing

looking at him its good to know they have lollipop men in the eye of terror still :P

lovely work again D,

anychance of making that" dread totem pole" we were talking about :P

first off thank you all for the warm response and encouraging comments they are greatly appreciated

now on to individual responses

Tanith Ghost@ i rushed the parchment painting and it shows so much i feel it is distracting from the model

Killax@ thanx

Biohazard@ i would definitely recommend the airbrush its an interesting tool to mess about with and blending on big models is so smooth with minimal time

i am a complete noob at it but am so pleased with my meagre results

TJWyrm@my technique is just the old messing about with the sponge plucked from a figure case and formed into a rough point for more direction and control, base stipple with the sponge a base of boltgun metal and i also used a brush for streaks and scratches.then vermin brown placement for the rust effect.for the darker areas like the inlets i also underbasecoated a little chaos black(all colours are old names as i dont know the new ones  )

Captain Cirrius@thank you very much and vauhl the daemon will return ,i felt i needed more practice as i wasnt happy with my painting for a one off like the greensculpt

AND MORTIS that made me chuckle until you pointed it out i never realised he looked like a chaos lollypopman

stop look and listen to the whispers of chaos

and now the rest of the dread
