I prefer the teal/green. It is nice to see something different than anyone else, and the teal makes your army stand out from everyone else. If you go to GT, that is easily Best Army material.

cheers guys green it is ,and nurglephill so far i pulled a draw in one game and a win the next (with vauhl taking out a termy with one bolter shot )so chaos is smiling so far ,but we all know how fickle the chaos gods are :)

I'm definetely a fan of the darker green plague marine doods. Idk if anyone has commented on this yet, but that terminator head as your avatar is bloody brilliant. Reminds me of the nemesis from RE3, I'm guessing thats the same head thats on your bareheaded terminator? If you've got gs skills like that, I say more doods need custom heads!

hi again first up ,the tabard was based with scorched brown then bestial brown ,a highlight of snakebite leather was next then a highlight of 50/50 snakebite leather bleached bone this was done on the chest in a crisscross pattern to try and represent material ,wash with gryphonne sepia to pull it all together then watered bleachbone for a final highlight.next i need help as i cannot decide wich base to go with to add some zest to the army,first up is the warp energy

Hey nice looking stuff, hadn't spotted this before.

For the base I say warp energy. It is a lot more interesting colors-wise next to the chesspattern. The chessboard idea could work really well on some Tzeentch daemons though.

The warped chessboard is a way better idea. The warp energy bases are too much and detract from how detailed you painted up your troops.

I definitely vote the warp energy, it looks great and would suit your army theme/style a lot more, in my opinion. The warped chessboards are great, but I personally think OliverTwist (or was it tortoise? I've forgotten...) had it right when trying to keep that to Tzeentchian models.

 

Either would look awesome, in the end :tu: But my vote's for the warp energy.

 

+edit+ went back and looked, MrManson was the name I was after... :P

Awsome guys i love the amount of detail you put into your run-of-the-mill guys. i think keep the sand bases but do some warp energy on them, just to tie them together.

as for the backpack it is dryfixed as is the cloak as i will be painting them separate before fixing

chessboard x2, its more suitable to the piece, the warp bases as mentioned add too much colour and detraction from the minis, bu the chessboard does not, while adding an interesting and unique look

 

plus you can walk a tiled floor, but i dont know about walking on warp energy, so the chessboard gives a more solid grounding feel to it as well

 

however i suggest using an offwhite and off black, to soften the contrast...this will help focus more of the eye on the mini rather than the base

IMO the bases there on now are fine and changing them would take away from the details you've put into the models and make them stand out WAY to much on the table top but thats 1 opinion out of 100.

 

after looking at it maybe a warp energy around there feet on the normal bases to give it that extra little detail

nice idea about the energy by the feet lunchbizzle but i dont think there is enough room for that and the sand,and starks with your chessboardx2 that brings it level again and i still cant decide,though i see what you are getting at with the base overpowering the model

Hm, it's actually a good point. Seeing just a single marine with the warp energy isn't too bad, but in a full squad I can imagine the base colours potentially overwhelming the minis. And looking back on it, the black of the chess board bases goes well with the black on the marines' armour. I think I prefer the warp energy, but it might be that the chess board effect would be the wiser way to go, for the sake of keeping your minis prominent and looking their best.
