The Black Widows Female Space Marines

Recommended Posts

This army has been a labor of love for the last two years, and I am very pleased to share it with you guys now that it is finally coming together.

My dial-up connection takes forever to upload pictures, so I'll share the first squad and some fluff tonight, and then upload pics of the next squad tomorrow.

Okay, I've got two more excellent illustrations by Goatboy and two more pieces of fluff for you guys to check out. I'm currently gathering together enough fluff and pics to make a Codex: Black Widows to print out. I think that will be really fun for people at the LAGD to be able to pick up a codex to go along with the army.

If Fabius Bile could get one of the Emperors Childrens' "pride and joy" working again; and that marine met a Widow... what a child that would be!

Awsome work! Great models, and I'd love to have a glimpse at this new codex too!

P.S What are the stats for a standard battle sister?

That's a good idea. I should make one of my Warlords the daughter of a Widow and an Emperor's Children Captain.

Working on it right now. I'll post it here once it's done in a couple of weeks.

In my house rules, a Black Widow Marine has the following statline:

WS-4 BS-4 S-3 T-4 W-1 I-4 A-1 LD-8

Special Rules: Move Through Cover, Infiltrate.

Okay, everyone has had some time to cool off after this topic and its predecessor were removed after members couldn't behave themselves, so I'm bringing it back for further discussion. Let's be very clear about a few things, though, as repeats of the previous misbehavior will be dealt with very harshly.

Whether or not you agree with the concept of female Space Marines is not a topic of this discussion. You can address that in the Liber Astartes discussion about the Black Widows (and must observe the forum rules when doing so - remove your emotion from the argument and remember that we're talking about games with little toy soldiers - don't take anything too seriously).

This discussion is about the converting, painting, and artistic aspects of Doctor Thunder's Black Widows. Constructive criticism of the work, suggestions for improvement, and further ideas on how he can represent this controversial army concept are the order of the day.

If you don't like female Space Marines, ignore the discussion. If you disagree with anyone's feedback, argue constructively. If you think that someone is out of line in any feedback that they give and can't reply constructively, take the high road and ignore it, or report the post to the moderators for action.

Again, any repeats of the previous misconduct will be dealt with harshly (including for those who weren't involved in the previous fiasco).

I like everything there! prehaps not the large piggy tails, but hell it suits...

keep it up!

Thanks, bro. ;)

AWESOME will you be using sisters models for scouts cause that would be cool

Actually, I've got something even better I'm working on right now. I'll post up some pictures of the female marine scouts in the WIP forum here in the next couple of days with the results. ;)

I love the concept of your army, but some of your models don't come across as feminine. The tactical marines just look like space marines with breast plates added on. If you want them to look female, I think you will have to change the heads. Your terminators look female, and I like them a lot.

I think one of the ways to make them look feminine is by using smaller heads. Look at the Sisters of Battle, for example. The helms they have are smaller, as is their armor. Big and bulky normal troops look like men. Terminators have to be big no matter what, though. You have made them as female-like as you can. ;)

Have you considered converting a more "slim-line" armor type? More curves, ect.

I love your paint job. Keep up the good work.

I think you bring up some very good points, Alpha. I think the Herminators work better because they were sculpted from the ground up, and have more appropriate body proportions, while the Femarines are basically just GW marines with green stuff added onto them.

Yes, ultimately what I need to do is what you suggest. Have the suit of female power armor sculpted from scratch, completely out of green stuff. Then it will have the proper proportions and curves, etc.

The problem is getting it done. Doghouse did the Herminators as a one-time deal, so I can't use him again. I've tried making my own several times and in several different ways, but try as I might and I just don't have his amazing skills with green stuff.

I could commission a professional sculptor to do it, but that would cost around a thousand dollars (seriously), and I just don't have that kind of cash. :(

So, for the time being, I'm willing to settle, but I'm going to keep looking for ways to acheive a better result for the Femarines. :)
