The test mini, basically just the armor eg: rust and scratches is done. Just finishing up the scheme for the main armor, and damage.

Mandatory FLUFF: basically they are nurgly warband, established a long time ago, they dont care at all about their armor so its old and rusty and chipped, all they care is it works. The Rhinos are numbered for each squad they belong too, 1 being the oldest in service so that will be the most battle damaged and so on. you can see the paint factory I have going on, I have one more rhino not pictured for a total of 5. and a predator.

The Baneblade will be next.

These still need to get the rustyness added.

i *love* that rust effect. its looks very good. my only crit would be the highlights - but as you have already pointed out, they are not done yet. Could you give a brief tute on how the rudt effect was achieved. In particular, in this model:

Did you use coffee for the rust technique? No really, I am diggin' the work you've started on these. Always look forward to your posts.

Keep it up!

H

I actually used a method involving Marmite. its quite nasty, but it works very well. I can post a tutorial on the new rhino im doing.

Yes please; I for one would really appreciate seeing this step-by-step :)

marmite? thats incredible! hmmmm.....i wonder if vegemite will work the same way ;)

Apparently you can; Sheep from Warseer & The ammobunker forums uses it on his tanks to get his weathered effects :D

I have done similar things with some of my IG tanks (yeah I know, heresy as this is a power armor board) utilizing rubber cement. Basically I undercoat it with either bare metal or rust depending on the age of it, then randomy daub on the rubber cement on areas of damage and high wear, let that dry then finish up painting the rest of the model as I usually would. Before the finishing washes and whatnot I rub my finger over the areas with the rubber cement and it pulls up in that wonderful chipped and worn paint pattern. Quick, easy, and relatively painless.

Hopefully when I get home from work tongiht my rhino will be ready for the onslaught. I found some rhinos in an old box and this one is like 5 years old so the painting and conversion work is terrible. The best way is to strip what I can and make it the most weathered tank I have.

For that I will make the tutorial should be around here in the next few days. MFV has the basic Idea with his description though.

aioannou-Yeah school starts on tuesday, college though back for my senior year in art school.
