_Cadaver_
Uhh, yeah, this is freakin' awesome! I'm constantly impressed with your new endeavors. I"m totally and shamelessly stealing you dog house build with the Renegade militia torsos. That guy looks so sweet! Tiriel
Properly disgusting and dirty... So since it's what they're supposed to be, very well done! xD Seriously, the color pattern is a bit different from what we usually see, but excellent nontheless! I love the "smoke dirt" effect on the vents of the vehicles! DuskRaider
Mr. N... I hate you. And the reason I say this is, I've been trying to perfect rust for years and you've got it down perfect. Good job, bud! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144686-painting-mr-nipples-nurgly-warband/page/2/#findComment-1683126 Share on other sites
Starks333
i love the look...but guys keep in mind, its a lot easier to get the contrast and look of certain things over a beige than other colours for example the dark brown chipped underlayer...it wouldnt show as much if you had a darker main colour and therefor would lose a bit on the effect...same with the rust, it would appear different, and might not appear as nicely either...you need to modify the techniques and applications to achieve the same effect over and with different colours only thing i can see is the same thing i ran into at first, and thats you need a colour or something to break up the monotone feel of the heavily weathered tanks, are you gonna be adding metallics? or another colour? they look great though, the numbers on the tops look excellent as well  Alex Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144686-painting-mr-nipples-nurgly-warband/page/2/#findComment-1683145 Share on other sites
Asmodeus' Swordhand
Mr Nipples, I actually prefer the paint on these guys to what you have done to the test model. If you add a little rust to the colourscheme on them, they would by infinitely superior in my eyes. Mr. Nipples
K step one. Find the model, heres my rhino i found in a box of old crap. it will be reborn. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1572.jpg Now you paint it whatever color you want the damage to be, in my case I do a reddish brown as mine is representing rust. You can do metallics er whatever you may want. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1573.jpg K, now comes the really icky part. I cant believe it says to spread this on toast and eat it..blluggh. anyways get some marmite, and some kinda applicator. As you can see my applicator is a pencil with an old sponge zip tied to it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1579.jpg Now apply it, in places you want the damage to be shown. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1574.jpg Paint it the color you want the model to be, in my case I use a kind of rotting flesh look. Let it dry, very important. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1578.jpg Fill up your sink with warm water and some dish soap, and send it to the depths. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1585.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1586.jpg Let it sit for a while, i usually give it about 10-15 minutes. Pull it out and start going to town on it with a toothbrush. Scrub all the marmite off and it will reveal the paint below. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1587.jpg and viola, there you be. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1588.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1589.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1590.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1591.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/JasonHeuser/DSCF1592.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144686-painting-mr-nipples-nurgly-warband/page/2/#findComment-1683732 Share on other sites
Vredesbyrd
Would you let the marmite dry first, before painting the second colour over the top? Just I would imagine that it would muck up your brushes if painted over whilst still marmitey? Metal Fingered Villain
simple as that. Little easier with an airbrush I imagine. Draakur
Fantastic rust effect, comes out looking very cool! And the bit swap for the plague marines makes for a pretty cool look, sort of the "diseased, silently stalking death" approach. Awesome man :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144686-painting-mr-nipples-nurgly-warband/page/2/#findComment-1683793 Share on other sites

firestorm40k
K, now comes the really icky part. I cant believe it says to spread this on toast and eat it..blluggh. yeah, I'm with you on this one, ugh I can't eve stand the smell of marmite - Chernobyl off-spill is what I call it! :) Anyway, thanks very much for the tutorial, it's excellent, I look forward to trying this method out on some tanks of my own in the future! :o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144686-painting-mr-nipples-nurgly-warband/page/2/#findComment-1683987 Share on other sites
Kerrigan
Be-au-ti-ful!! Best rust I have seen in a long time. Makes my army look like a cartoon. I can hear the tanks rolling and moaning... stunning work. This style works best I think with a pure chaos marine (mech) army, so no daemonic influence whatsoever.
