*note to self: if TAS hasn't gotten some Terminators done by July, build Gehemahnet, tear planet asunder*

Thanks, Terminatorinhell - my, it does seem we're all working on Terminators recently, doesn't it? ^_^ So, metals highlighted, models given thorough washes.

Long way from being finished yet, but they're moving right along.

Well i'll try to get something planned out for July then! Although knowing me, planning singular terminators probably isn't a bad thing either. Also depends how things go in April as i'll have some more free time to really get in some decent painting sessions.

A day spent painting at the FLGS and that's 3 down. I also got the other two Terminators finished as well, but I'm doing a little something extra on their bases that needs a bit more work. :P They'll be finished tomorrow, and I'll have better pics of these 3 then as well. For now, however, my camera is dying and I happen to be too lazy to go nab more batteries. :D

They're finished. :)

Anointed Terminator Squad - Quor Naphula

The ones I didn't show yesterday - Naphula himself (alternate title, "GET OUT OF MY WAY!!! *WHACK-SPLAT*")

C&C appreciated. :) I'll try to get started on the Hellblade next, though I might wind up painting the psyker first. In other words expect me back in another month. ;) Really, though, I'm going to try for a weekly update at the very least from now on.

Very nice work Raz, well done :P

Loving all the WB minis that are being pumped out this year by everyone ;)

You've done a fantastic job on the gore and blood effects, definitely given those two particular minis some real life and character.

Keep up the great work ^_^

So, I've answered the Call. :tu: Since this is "Day 1", consider this less of an update and more of a mission statement. :P Kicked it off today by getting my Hellblade primed (assembled it a few days ago - cockpit frame and pilot aren't glued in yet due to me wanting to be able to actually paint the thing, and I'll put the clear plastic windshield in after that so I don't get paint all over it):

and remember this guy?

Well, he's gonna have some friends now. Got a quicky basecoat and one layer on their skin, so they're very WIP at the moment.

Other stuff pledged include the FW psyker I posted about a while back and what's not done of this squad (i.e. all of it :P )

I call her Sheila. ;D Still WIP because I'm going to do basing with the Macragge terrain and I'm gonna have to fix the windshield somehow, which I am aware looks awful, as I was rather sloppy with the glue on the clear plastic - my hands shake really bad sometimes and today was one of those days (I was also obscenely caffeinated at the time, which MAY have had something to do with it). The pilot looked really good, too. T_T

She was indeed quite a joy to paint - planning on getting at least two more at some point, and probably a Talon for them to escort.

So, quickie mini-update. After much deliberation, I ripped the clear plastic out of the canopy. I'd tried and retried gluing it on about 7 times and each time it fogged up or got covered in glue... it just wasn't worth it and it looks just as good without it, with the added bonus of being able to see the pilot - the glowy effect looks better if you can see his display, but here he is:

And, because Kik asked, here's a size-comp... and the lighting's not the best, but it gets the point across.

arbogast1: Muhahahaha, another Son of Lorgar in our midst.

Captain Mike: Well, all I've got done right now is two HQs, one squad, the Termies and a Hellblade - wasn't really considering doing an army shot, buuuut... :)

Malika666: The red's actually pretty simple - Scorched Brown basecoat, two or three thinned layers of Scab Red (note: I don't use a palette to thin my paints ;) - I just dip 'em in some water and then it's onto the model they go. This serves two purposes: it gives it a vaguely uneven, and yet also sort of GrimDark look, which I think works - let's face it, nothing in use for 10,000 years is going to be anything like smooth - and it also allows me to be somewhat lazy. ;) ), a highlight of Red Gore, and then an edge highlight of Foundation Mechrite Red. After that it's a simple matter of washing everything to hell and back with Badab Black and then Devlan Mud (<- most fun part, IMO).

As for the Latros Sacrum on the shoulderpads, it'll be easier to show you than to explain it, so here's a quick pic tutorial:

gallery_39401_2771_14293.jpg

I'll note that fluffwise the skull should technically be on fire - I like it without it, but that boils down to personal taste. I do highlight the area around the insignia with Mechrite Red to help it pop a bit more, though - otherwise it blends in a bit too well with the dark red.

Love the way you did that tutorial! I personally like the Latros Sacrum better without the flame around it, it gives them a way more grimdark feel! I'm planning on doing some Heresy era Word Bearers, so I guess they would already look Chaotic, just not possessed yet without the weird backpacks and less spiky.

I've always wanted to have a go at a Word Bearers army, they are just ultimate badasses!

(Saw the battle report in the Eye Of Terror campaign in White Dwarf and wanted to try em out, but of course I took a liking to the Black Legion as well and started witht em ><)

Seeing this really resurrects my will to play a word bearers army, if only I had the money and time... Oh wait I do have that... Might join you guys when I've finished my Ultrasmurfs current additions... ^^,
