A'ight guys. As usual from me it's be a long time with no updates but I haven't been entirely idle.

Here's the finished conversion of my land speeder, should get some paint on it soon.

The gunner and driver are done (stock models) but I'm leaving them out for painting.

And the progress on my Wolf Lord... a bigger, badder, more expensive version of the old one.

I have a shield that I'm working on too, but I haven't included it because the g/s was still drying on both shield and arm.

jeez... didn't realise quite how long it'd been since the last post.

Well, I've done a fair bit on my lord, just need to resculpt the head on the wolf pelt and he's ready for paint. Here are the latest shots.

Also caved and purchased some thunderwolf cavalry. I will say that I was somewhat disappointed by the models, but that was mostly because there are only 3 poses available. Thankfully it's not an issue for me as I don't plan on running more than 4 at anyone time. Seeing as they are Wolf Guard (and a Wolf Guard Battle Leader) there was some sculpting needed to ensure that they tied in with the aesthetics of any other power armoured Wolf Guard in my army. Namely the reinforced armour at the base of the legs and they will all be sporting wolf cloaks.

Not exactly original, but I also went with the chain lance/glaive type weapon as I figure they will need additional reach seeing as they are mounted. The WGBL will likely get a new shaft for his axe too, just looks too stubby for my liking. Might also resculpt the neck of the wolf so that it is looking the same way.

Lastly, got bored and made a tank commander model. No apparent reason other than I had the bits and I found an old crusader which with a bit of love may get painted up sometime in the next decade and thought he'd make a decent addition to it.

@ Lionofjudah. Can't take credit for the shield, it's from Chapter House Studios (IIRC) and is just a GS press mould. Felt the original piece from them was far too thick. The rest of it I'll gladly accept the compliment for though :D

@ Darth Potato and Anaziel Thanks guys. Was very surprised at the speed with which I turned that WP around. The idea had been floating around for a while, based loosely off of some artwork in the previous codex. for me, a couple of weeks to produce a finished model is almost unheard of... I've had models sat around for months needing just minor parts painting to be truly finished (Calgar comes to mind... think it was 4 months with just the bolters needing painting).

Ok the speeder now just needs weathering and the gunner's arms and Heavy Bolter painting. Should get that done tonight.

I've also started on the Rhino. The 'tank commander' model in an earlier post will get finished and added to the missing hole.

None of the metals have had anything done to them yet. The only reason the dozer blade is painted in bare metal as opposed to the blue/grey scheme like the predator is that I figure with standard APCs they'll have a stock of basic blades that get attached as and when. The pred one I feel would be a constant addition to the vehicle.

All going relatively well for my ETL vow... mind you, I've still got the lord to paint :/

OK guys. The Land Speeder and Rhino are both finished and painting has begun on the lord (no shots of him yet as it's simply blocking out colours).

Here are the fully weathered vehicles...

Landspeeder.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/Img001_1936x2592_zps2d1a1c3e.jpg

I realise some people may question why the underside is muddy, well it's not technically mud, it's more like dust. I figure the speeder will often need to fly very close to the ground to avoid detection and the grav engines will likely kick up some dust and being my wolves, they probably won't be too fussed about hosing the underside down that much. As for the 'flying stand', well the plastic one broke, partly due to the increased weight of the model and partly because it's stupid so I used an old screwdriver. It'll get spayed black soon, and the base will have the usual flock/snow/clump foliage put on. But it's done,a s far as my ETL vow is concerned.

Now for the Rhino...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/Img009_2592x1936_zps95baabfe.jpg

And the crew member... I'm making a few hatches/crew members purely so that I can switch around my vehicles depending on upgrades E.g storm bolter, HKM etc.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/Img006_2592x19362_zpsae932754.jpg

Anyways, sorry for the excessive amount of pics but please let me know what you guys think.

Now back to the big man....

OK guys, fresh off the table is my finished Wolf Lord... alright, maybe not 100% finished, the base needs to be completed (still no static grass) and I need to paint his cloak but it's turning into a right pain in the rear to get it ready for priming. So for the ETL vow he's WYSIWYG and finished.

Bjorn Stormwolf, leader of my great company and a darn sight beefier than the previous incarnation.

The skin is meh, but chances are I'll go back to that at a later stage.

So, 'Yay me!!'. Finally completed one of these vow thingies.

Suppose that means I need to pledge a new one :/

Cheers guys.

@ Ch@oz... Another mini another set of eyebrows from the looks of it.

A little more work done today. Will hopefully get the bulk of him finished tonight. Won't be a bad turnaround for me, 2 days for the whole thing...

Well, Njal is finished (apart from the base). He went from, IMO, the best painted wolf I had to one that I am massively disappointed with due to a varnishing disaster.

The varnish I applied misted up really badly, fortunately I was able to salvage the model on the whole by hand applying a gloss varnish. But it didn't solve the problem 100% and a lot of areas never got back to their previous best. The worst affected parts were the skull on the staff, the handle and the raven... But hey. I very rarely (as in, never) use him so I don't suppose it'll be a huge issue.

Still annoying though.

Anyhoo, here he is.

+Apologies in advance+

This is a copy and paste of two posts which were in the SW sub forum so some information will be repeated because i'm too lazy to edit lol

Good evening brothers, I have begun awakening from a long slumber due to the tinkerings of the iron priests and it is time for a new chapter in this saga.
Fear not, the project is not dead although the speed is less than glacial :/
Recently been back to uni to train to be a teacher and am starting my first job in a week so time is incredibly limited (more so than before), couple that with the fact that I haven't played in a long while and when I did I played I would play as eldar and it's easy to see why my army stagnated. Well no longer... Ok maybe a bit longer...

Basically come up with an idea to include a unit or two of grey knights, only I don't want them to be grey knights. I want a space wolf unit that can represent them on the battlefield, enter the Jötunn. A unit unique to bjorn stormwolf's company and comprising of around a dozen warriors. These are his personal guard, his shadows, his titans on the battlefield. Drawn from all ranks of space wolf, specifically those that meet his demands for stoicism, bravery and fighting ability. More than that however, these are soldiers that have no desire to lead. To find a warrior who is happy simply to fight for his master and who harbours no loftier ambition than to slay in the name of his jarl is rare.
Some say bjorn is an astute leader, ensuring that those closest to him will not try to usurp his command.
These warriors are armed with a unique form of power armour that is able to vent super cooled gasses during combat to freeze an enemies limbs as they strike. Armed with mighty spears and axes they will stand against any who oppose them.

So, in English, they'll be armed with spears and axes (nemesis halberds), have engraved runes on their armour (aegis) and be able to vent super cooled gas from their armour in combat (holocaust). In appearance they will have bulkier armour than most of my marines and will be wearing helmets- that alone should set them apart. There should be 5 TDA models and 10 pea ones, the tad will have a banner and such like, probably with a wolf priest attached to represent the apothecary.
I've done some work on a helmet to see if it will work and have drawn up several designs which I shall post in the morning assuming I can find them (been moving house so everything is up in the air).

Anyways, I'd appreciate some advice or recommendations for fluff on this unit and of anyone has better ideas to represent different abilities if love to hear them.

Apologies for the length of this post as well as the time between updates, for Russ and the all father *howwwwllllll*

+part 2+

ok, well here's some shots which hopefully give an indication of the style of helmet I am making for these guys... also shows a trimmed down board that I have for inspiration/ideas. There are several sheets of runes on there which have mostly had packs written next to them or been pre-assigned to characters (for instance the LF pack is sporting the rune Ken which among other things symbolizes controlled fire and will).

The three sketched helemts are based on a mix of fantasy dwarf and viking themed helms which I will try to adapt to fit a marine helmet. You can also see some of the other potos I've used for ideas.

If you guys find any interesting ones feel free to post them here biggrin.png

Ok so a test piece for the helmet turned out ok... just ordered a couple of boxes from GW so I will shortly be in possession of a tactical squad and grey knight strike squad which should provide all the pieces I need for the base models of my Jotnar PA unit.

Still needs a small amount of tidying up but mostly done.
