Cedric
Nicely done dread! Just got my Forgeworld arms for my Ironclad conversions, so I'll get those fixed up within the month. Also, I wonder how a Chaplain would turn out if painted with Tin Bitz and washed with Badab... I'll have to find out! Kal
Hey all. Having recently re-found B&C, this thread was one of the first I read and well, Great Job, very inspiring, so I had a go myself... http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj249/kalosj/marinestri.jpg http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj249/kalosj/marine2.jpg http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj249/kalosj/marine1.jpg Only detailed the salamander, but really like it, so I may repaint my 1500+ pts of salamanders that I painted up for Armageddon (3rd ed)... Again, Great work, thanks Kal PS For any SWC folks, these pics are up in the blog section there too ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/10/#findComment-1898241 Share on other sites

Brother Captain Andrecus
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj249/kalosj/marine1.jpg Master Chief strikes again!!! Duhn duhn duhn!!! Cool paintjob. Oh, and Metcalfedan, would one be able to skip the Badab Black wash if they started out with a darker metallic basecoat? metcalfedan
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj249/kalosj/marine1.jpg Master Chief strikes again!!! Duhn duhn duhn!!! Cool paintjob. Oh, and Metcalfedan, would one be able to skip the Badab Black wash if they started out with a darker metallic basecoat? I'm not sure; the reason I use those colours are: mithril silver = nice bright base, provides enough colour after many washes. badab black = the (and I can't stress this enough) TONAL layer, provides some depth in colour on the model. asurmen blue/other colours = these are there to make the right colour, and make the model look nice. I suppose you could try with a darker base but you might miss out a bit on the tonal aspect... metcalfedan
Ok, here are those pics of Pedro: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0692.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0694.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0695.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0696.jpg Next up: any suggestions? I was thinking sternguard or devastators... any requests (from what I already have, I'm not going to be buying any more marines for a while, I'm starting guard you see...) Reyner
That Kantor model looks brilliant! I'm going to try this method eventually, looks like it can take a while but they look so cool :D and for randomness heres what my girlfriend said when I showed her it: woooo thats amazing!! Lighting Marines
You should build and paint your own honor guard to accompany Pedro. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/10/#findComment-1909018 Share on other sites
OwenCrute
To anyone who wants to do Dark Angels with this: I think the old Dark Green ink, undiluted in a couple of coats would work wonders. I'd post pics of the Necron Lord I used it on (painting christmas present for my mate), but I don't have a camera, and he's not PA. TheLoneWolf
First of all, I hereby declare this thread is an Epic win :P ....secondly, well done lad, you have inspired us all! *slaps you on the back* ^_^ Next, I am going try this method on me wolvez and see how it turnz out....though its going to take me some time to figure out how to get this done.... <_< Btw, do you have a pic of that DA marine model that is also painted in/with this method? Many thx in advance! ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/10/#findComment-1910587 Share on other sites
eyescrossed
I just tried it out on an Eldar Dire Avenger (Yes yes, heresy) last night, using an all metal scheme, I did the armour blue, the helmet crest and face gold (Gryphonne Sepia) and the gun and tabard purple. I'd post a picture, but it's not PA <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/10/#findComment-1910707 Share on other sites
Favoured of the Emperor
Very nice. You're making me want to repaint my whole army, that i just reapinted! Or i could just get a new one... The red on the uruk is simply the best. If Carlsberg did metallic red, it would be like that B) FOE Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/10/#findComment-1911205 Share on other sites
OwenCrute
Btw, do you have a pic of that DA marine model that is also painted in/with this method? Many thx in advance! Sorry for misleading you, I never painted a DA in this method (or any other for that matter), I painted some parts of a Necron Lord with Orb with it, and thought it would make a suitable Viva Metallica DA Green. Ra1stl1n
I just tried it out on an Eldar Dire Avenger (Yes yes, heresy) last night, using an all metal scheme, I did the armour blue, the helmet crest and face gold (Gryphonne Sepia) and the gun and tabard purple. I'd post a picture, but it's not PA :cuss Well since its a painting technique i'd say that imho its ok to post the image of the eldar although their armour seems more of a weave of fibres than an all metallic armour. I tried the technique on my spacewolves and liked the result...probably i'll have to base the painting on boltgun metal for pre-heresy but its turning out neatly i like it :cuss Picks to come when i get my camera back. Brother Argent
Well after much internal debate I'm now starting to paint a colour scheme based from the 'Viva Metallica' method. A Halfed Green and Silver paint scheme. Will start a thread for them soon.
