I played my first Apocalypse game with them today at GW Bluewater, all I can say is: Heroic Intervention + 9 power fists = LOTS of epic death! "2nd turn, I deep-striked them into combat with a Baneblade in the middle of a steel of fury company (3 baneblades btw). They powerfisted the tank to the eye of terra and back, causing an apocalyptic explosion and inflicting a destroyer hit (we used this instead of the str9 ap2 to make it more fun) on every model within 9 inches - nothing survived. And the baneblade on the left also suffered an apocalyptic explosion and hit everything within 13 inches this time. The whole left flank of the table was annihilated. So my one unit of about 700 points wiped out over 3000 points of chaos in 1 turn. :woot: After that I was bouncing around the store like a guardsmen that just killed Abbadon with a lasgun. I'm definitely going to use them in future games of Apocalypse! As for painting - I've started work on the sergeant with a thunder hammer - from the games day mini guy. I also bought Lucius the Eternal today and I'm going to paint him up in metallic purple to go on display. Pics up soon. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm usually just a lurker on these boards but I've inspired here to register and post. Those look fantastic. I did a similar thing about 15 years ago with my Dark Angels captain but used watered down Striking Scorpion Green (I think it was called) over the bare metal. It's still a favourite of mine even though the paint job's a little rough. I think I'm going to have to pinch this idea (if you don't mind) when I resurrect my Marines (shortly after I finish my current Tau). Congratulations on a fantastic looking, inspirational collection. Hovoc Posted May 1, 2009 Share Posted May 1, 2009 For those who had questions on doing a sort of black metallic color, I offer you this. I did my deathwing back in august. I was orginally trying for a silver skulls color scheme. I had picked up some boltgun spray from a LGS that had a bunch of old GW paints on the cheap. I paid $8 for two cans of Boltgun. I sprayed them, then washed them once. Its not quite black, more of a charcoal gray in person. I imagine with another wash it would be closer to black. My pics are rubbish, and the lighting is off, but in person you can still see the bolt gun highlights on the edges. chapter master 454 Posted May 10, 2009 Share Posted May 10, 2009 I did think that as well for lucius the eternal. Just kamikaze yourself with melta bombs, krak grenades and frag grenades. Mind and pull the pin yourself as to ensure it was by your hand he was blown to bits (if you mate blasted you, then he was the defeater). good work on the metallic painting, looking minted as usual. On a side note: what if a necron or tyranid beat him? then again your only eternal or invinible til someone ends you or kills you. the titles are just telling people you have a really high streak of whatever the name implies. metcalfedan Posted May 22, 2009 Author Share Posted May 22, 2009 Thanks ;) Luckily I did a few (3 and 4 halves) a year early, I've already done my art, and 3 of the 15 exams I have this year - should be fine :) My local GW (bluewater) is having a painting competition, so when I go to drop off this model for display in the run up to judging, I'll see if I gan get my hands on Snikrot. ;) EDIT: does my avatar remind anyone of "The Joker" from The Dark Knight?
