The History and Legacy of Dorn's Betrayal

I have only one negative thing to say about the Imprint that Aurelius is putting together. And that's that newcomers to the game will mistake this for the official Games Workshop Index Astartes articles ;) It is looking that good...

No fair taunting us like that. ;) At least give us a definite release date.

That's up to Aurelius to post, not me :) But hopefully this will keep your interest up....

I have to say, I'm LOVING this series. Probably some of the best fan-fiction/alternate 40k history I've ever read.

What's more it's more coherent and believeable than much of what GW have been pumping out since 3rd Ed.

Bravo, Sirs!

Looks like Space Wolves (pauldron), Ultramarines (head), Blood Angels (pauldron part), Thousand Sons (Chest), World Eaters (Head), White Scars (Leg), and Word Bearers (Pauldron)

I think we have a winner. :tu:

This is the first look at what the Blood Angel legion symbol became after they fell to Nurgle - the winged blood drop turned to a three 'drop' thing that echoes their patron god's symbol.

do you have to photo shop those or is there a programme you use specially? could you link it please if possible.

And for the first time in my life i actually care alot for the ultras now! they seem so genuine and believable! not all stuck up and superior!

GREAT WORK!

For the all of my pictures (the ones of mine in the teaser are the Word Bearer, World Eater and Space Wolf), I merely used Photoshop CS3 to manipulate images. I'm not sure what programs Madscuzzy or Ferrus Manus used though :D

For mine (the Thousand Sons image) I used GIMP 2.0, which is downloadable free off the net. A quick google search should turn it up.

EDIT: As for a release date, as far as I know it hasn't been set yet.

As this is the first issue of the Legio Imprint, we are finding all manner of pitfalls and snares getting in the way of the production process. These will be easier and faster to sidestep next time, but the first time round is always the most complex.

There are still some last-minute touches and hoops to jump through before it gets the thumbs up for release.

As soon as I have a release date from upstairs you will know it here. :)

I just spent the last 3 and a half hours reading this whole topic, and the only way I can decisively describe my excitement is in four words-

Chomping at the bit.

Seriously, you guys are amazing. I've been an Ultrahater since second edition and I have to say if your IA for the Ultramarines was official fluff, I'd start a smurf army tomorrow and never look back.

Simply incredible.

With less than 36 hours to go until May kicks in, it looks as though we are not going to be able to make the predicted April release. This is not for want of trying - the pace behind the scenes has been absolutely frantic and I am going to sleep for a week when this finally gets published, but it seems the technical issue gremlins have beaten us on this.

However, the end is in sight, and now that the gremlins have been ironed out, future issues should come out far more smoothly.

As soon as I have a publication date, it will be posted here. ;)

@AGPO - I have not heard of the Chaos Dwarf e-zine, but I shall look into it.. Thanks. :)

@Aramis_the_Red - Glad you are enjoying it. I can't say I hate any of the legions - it would certainly make it difficult to write an alt-IA on one I did hate. I also challenge anyone to hate the design theat Madscuzzy has done for the Mark 16 Damocles pattern power armour the Ultramarines have... I wish that GW made this style or that I was able to convert them as I would love to have an army of these guys!

@Kelbor-Hal - Good things come to those... who hopefully don't have to wait much longer. :)

@Razblood - This thread has all the articles that have been published, although if you wait until the Legio Imprint is released you will have the ones here - excluding the Iron Warriors which didn't fit - along with the Space Wolves, Thousand Sons and Blood Angels articles, and all in a downloadable and print-friendly pdf form with additional proofreading tweaks, marine painter images and original illustrations with each of the IA articles.

@Lee265 - Admech / Mars got a mention in the Iron Warriors article, and will get a larger one in the upcoming Iron Hands one, but no plans to extend the series past the 18 IA's. Hopefully you should be able to get at least a taste - if not the full story - of what happened to the other Imperial organisations from their interactions with the marines described in their IA's.

This is totally worth the wait :P

Its a shame 40k dont consider making this a real alternative - aka a paralell universe in which you can chose your original sides dedication.

Still though very very very nice work :(

Can't you drop us any hints as to what the next article may contain pretty please :3

Maybe but they have trouble keeping up with the 1 reality they have. I'd hate to se the confusion of dealing with 2 or more.

The first issue of the Legio Imprint B&C e-zine - featuring the first half of the Dornian Heresy - is being loaded into the drop pods now. Expect a new B&C banner some time tomorrow announcing its publication.
