I'll be away all weekend so I thought I'd squeeze in a quick update. I finished the legs of both the third guy (minus some plating) and the Aspiring champion and glued the torso's on. The aspiring champion will have a fully sculpted chestplate, and the other marine will have some detailing added in the middle of the plate, I just haven't decided what yet. Their GS belts are on, but I won't be able to work on them for a bit.

I just realized I forgot to pre drill the holes for the running guys abdomen chest cables.....thats gonna suck to do later, but oh well!

Classes have essentially finished so I got a bit of work done the past couple days. Unfortunately I have misplaced my guitar wire, so I can't finish any more on the running model till I find it. I've also finished filling in the backs of the legs of the 5th guy. I sculped the chest of the Aspiring champion, which was really my first substantial sculpting job. It turned out ok, except not quite bulky enough. I think I know where I went wrong and hopefully can improve on it next time. I had planned to use a bare arm from an old bloodletter for his right arm, but when I had it on it looked rather gimp, so I swapped it out for this one. I also don't know what to do for a head, I have the option of the one currently tac'd on him or the Khorne Aspiring champ head from the sprue.

Anyways onto some pictures:

I say keep the head thats on him - he looks fully badass like that. These are shaping up to be fantastic models - Im currently tied between true scale chaos and space wolves for my next project and these beserkers are tipping me in favour of the chaos gods

Keep it up

  • 1 month later...

Its been awhile since I updated this thread, and unfortunately I don't have too much of an update. R.L. more or less caught up to me in April and the early part of this month, but I have managed to slap a bit of paint on my Skull Champ. Hopefully over the next two weeks I'll be able to get all 5 of these done. Unfortunately after that updates will have to wait a few months, as I'm going to be doing camp work for the rest of the summer. Anyway, here's a quick pic:

Thanks the for the positive responses guys, helps motivate me to finish the squad. Another minor update, finished the main body of the Skull champ today, and will hopefully get him completed tomorrow.

There's a load of nice updates in here :HQ:

Please remember you need to update in the project thread as well.

I almost removed you and that would have been a damn shame. ;)

...WOW! I have recently started jumping onto the True Scale band wagon and these are...well brilliant. Just one request, could you give me a few tips on the greens stuff work on the first few guys and in particular their torso. :( . It's just that DogHouse's tut stops about there and it's where I'm at and I need a bit of a confidence boost so I at least THINK I know what I'm doing...Great work though, even if they are on the wrong side... :)

Thanks for the support, the Skull Champ is coming along nicely.

@Tutteman: My biggest tip for smoothing GS is to use Vaseline rather than water, and as much patience as you can muster.

@Cathar the Great: Thats one of the highest compliaments you can give, Synapse's World Eaters were one of the biggest inspirations for this project

Here's the body/arms and shoulder pads done. I've run into a problem, the head choices I had made for him no longer fit now that the shoulderpads are glued on so any head suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I just have to Paint the symbol on the shoulder, and finish off the backpack and it will be on to the next one.

" They remind me a lot of Synapse's Pre-Heresy World Eaters, especially the Aspiring Champ. Good work!"

I can see why that would be a awesome compliment..... just saw Synapse's World Eaters....

Still lifiting my Jaw off the ground...

You have given me great ideas for my chaos force...

You are one of the main reasons why I'm glad I joined B&C.

Kepp going man keep going!

Well pretty much finished with the Skull Champion, I think I'm going to add a large Khorne icon on the backpack at some point, but not right away. I have to finish the free hand on the shoulder as well. I'm unsure about the head, I haven't glued it yet incase feedback on it is negative. I wanted a horned head, but one won't fit so I've gone with this sofar. Anyways onto pics:

FOr a model of this quality and those colours, white does not fit IMHO. The model is great, the helmet isn't really. White doesn't match and the style of it is abit...plain. Not sure what you could swap it for though..
