Hey Everyone!

Im building a 1850point Tzeentch Based Army..

This is My test figure. An Aspiring sorcerer for my Thousand Sons core

Im Really visually oriented..((I brain-storm with a Pad and pencil in hand))

so Heres a Bit of concept art I did pre build.

And here he is. Just tacked together ATM..

I still need to clean up a few bitz..

then Ill be sending him off to paint for my color test.. And If I like that Ill kick off the rest of the build..

I love the eye and bird motifs you've got going, VERY Tzeentch. The concept is definitely more intriguing than the typical mouse-ears 1k sons fare.

The test mini seemed to have less impact than the concept, and I think it may be because the pose seems quite static. Greenstuff work is excellent, I wish I had your hand skills.

Not sure about the sword--seems like you've got an opportunity to show what this legion is all about, with maybe a staff or a unique-looking sword, or a whatever it is, but instead it's chaos sword Mk. I. Not the end of the world, but you had me at giant lidded eyes and vulture beaks, and I want to see more of that originality;-)

Your visualization is intense and you've brought the concept to fruition in such an astounding way. I really like what I see here and have a hunch I'll thoroughly enjoy following your progress towards 1850 points worth of Tzeentch. Gorgeous.

Thanks guys! Your Criticisms are Appreciated.

Infact, Right after I read Huron's Post, I dug through my Bitz box for a replacement Sword..

Hes not based And I paint like a Monkey.. But heres my Color test..

[Edit: I have a better color standard up so I killed these pics]

Anyhow.. Tell me what you think!

It's funny, I hadn't noticed the eye/tzeentch symbol in his horns until after you'd painted him--shows my powers of observation <_<

Really like the new sword choice, and the paint scheme suits him. Now he needs a whole squad of bird-headed or gigantic-eyed creatures to lead!

Thanks Guys!

But Im not sure Im overly happy with the paint.. Despite it being a bad Pic(Its a little overexposed, I need a light box or atleast decent natural light).. It just doesnt look as good as i would like..

Even sitting next to a simple Utra-Marine It just Isnt popping for me..

This Guys was A test mini for a little commission I did last summer ((10 light-up marines and a Rhino)) And even the quick paint job I did on him looks almost just as good to me...

The gold Didnt highlight like I would have liked.. his sword turned out ok and so did the shoulder pad..

I grabbed 4 boxes of chaos Marines to make 27 T-Son So I have a number of disposable models to slap paint on. And this wasnt an overly complicated conversion by any means..

Maybe one or two more practice Minis before I really get started..

Thats a really effective and well painted fade,

i personally can't help wondering if it might not be more effective left to right, almost in imitation of the quatered loyaist schemes, than front to back.

i just think it might have more impact / be more noticable.

then again, on reflection it might suck :P

That second paintjob is awesome, definately different to most if not all the others i have seen. Good concept and good work.

Left to right may work but personally i prefer it front to backas it is very different.

Thanks!

I still need to figure out how to best Highlight my Golds But I think the Sun-set fade looks pretty good.. Tzeentch is the god of Change so doing one or two of the fades from left to right to change things up may be a good Idea But I think as I whole I like the Back to front fade..

I converted a few heads today

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_4127.jpghttp://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_4131.jpghttp://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_4132.jpg

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_4128.jpghttp://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_4130.jpghttp://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/Zsoulless/IMG_4129.jpg

After looking at some of the forgeworld deathguard sets, Im considering doing a number of converted heads and shoulder pads then casting them for my own personal army to make life easy on myself for this build and any future expansions..

No real updates.. Im Still working on the overall paint design..

Ive spent The last little while sculpting and converting orks So I feel safe with that aspect of this build..

+++Mod edit+++

But I havent worked on my painting skills what so ever.. and frankly I paint like a monkey with a house-brush..

Ive been pouring over Pics and tutorials all over the web.. Ive found a couple great ones on NNM gold, one of which was posted by Kurgan done by Vincent Hudon Here on B&C.. absolutely beautiful!

So ive Primed a bunch of AOBR boys and begun to practice...

Poor little guys..

Wish me luck

Hey Z, cool to see you're posting somewhere other than the Waaagh!.

I like the way the Sorceror is looking, though I think the body is a bit of a letdown; he kinda looks like a standard Marine with a special head, rather than anyone all that Tzeentchy. Maybe try out a plastic Dark Angel body (the one with the robes) for a somewhat more arcane look. Other than that, the paint is good, and the drawings are nice as always.

Oh yeah, they're probably gonna frown on you posting your Orks (it's a Power Armor only forum), so you might wanna remove those.

don't know if your interested but for the gold i use on most of my models it scorched brown and shinging gold in a 1:2 mix as the base, then devlan mud, add mithril silver to the basecoat for the highlights and a thinned down purple glaze before the final highlight should see yo left with an anitque looking gold thats quick to do

great conversions by the way, simple and great looking, i also love the fade and think mixing it up a bit in the squads would look great.

on the concept pic... can't help but think of some of the artwork for warhammer online... not a bad thing at all as you are clearly a very talented artist so i look forward to seeing more of your work

Thanks! Im always interested in helpful advice. Ill have to give that gold recipe a try!

And its no coincidence my art has a little Warhammer online feel to It.. When I started brainstorming for this project I downloaded a number of Tzeentch art pics from both fantasy and 40k to draw ideas from..

Holy Crap! I wish I had your mean skills man, those conversions and that fading colour scheme are top notch! I might just have to show my friend who plays 1k sons this thread, he was complaining about lack of ideas for expanding his force and this might encourage him.

Keep it up dude
