Slaaneshi Themed Daemon Army

Sersi

Mmm... Personally, I'd like to see her with a more pained expression. But, I guess it's too late to change anything now
But pain is bliss to one such as she. :ermm:

As for the dais, how about having her recline slightly on silken pillows(chained to the dais)?

Great work so far Sersi, keep it up!

Well the wing idea seems to have gone over like a lead balloon. Hmmm...Maybe this image will sell you on them. Or not...

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/15/58590_md-.jpg

Not my work by the way, but cool none the less. Also pretty similar to what I'm trying to do here, well except for her having an alligator for her crotch! :(

I'll shelve the wing Idea for now, though. The following is in the cards for today.

Carna:

1. some sort of crown or tiara.

2. small subtle horns.

3. normal hair hanging down to the dais.

4. shackles on the supporting hands and feet

Spiderwalker:

1. a cushion dais with lounging daemonettes sounds interesting.

2. the legs are looking pretty plain, I will probably scribe in some details to break up the surface.

Anybody still like the idea of it being a corrupted Eldar Farseer? Or is her just being a daemon bad/good enough?

Oh I also started on an alternate head for the Male KOS. Similar to this:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/4/24/29464_md-Daemons,%20Slaanesh,%20Slaaneshi.jpg

I'll be altering the body after casting to add the bony spines and spikes, etc.

Keeps the comments and suggestions coming, the certainly help.

the wings on the model right now don't impress me terribly much, but they look amazing in your picture. They'd work much better if they were the same scale as in the awesome, awesome picture. That said, your drawing and sculpting skills blow me away. But by far your ability to translate your drawings into sculptures. Best of luck in this venture, I find the pregnant lady baby cannon idea pure genius. I think she needs to be a vanilla marine. Expecting mothers crave the craziest stuff.

I agree BIGGER wings could look better than small ones. Of course the picture and the sculpt are quite different, so I'm not 100% sure about it. Should see them directlyon the model! :P

BTW I like all your ideas, go for the tiara, go for the long hair and the small horns. Also love the idea of a "corrupted" eldar farseer: the lounging daemonettes would then be a perfect "council" retinue :D

This is the most stunning thread ever, I check it everyday hoping for updates!

P.S. keep the pregnant grinder as "womanly" as u can! I think it's the aspect that most makes this sculpt beautiful but disturbing at the same time.

REGARDS!!!

So, today's ideas:

I'm thinking of sculpting a raised Slaanesh symbol around the inset barrel of the maw cannon; like so:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/17/58945_md-.JPG

Here's a better picture of the symbol.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/16/58838_md-.jpg

So, I've decided to go with corrupted Farseer concept. Which lead me to a few ideas, and questions:

1. She'll have a corrupted soul stone fused to her sternum.

2. The walker will be festooned with captured soul stones that will be use to power the walker, in a complete perversion of Eldar technology.

3. I intend to paint her with Eldar symbols that have been slashed or defaced with scars of brands.

What else would work to sell the model as a Farseer?

Basing:

I plan on using the fall of Eldar as the theme for my basing: ie shattered statues, symbols inlaid into marble floors, and collapsed wraith bone structures. I'm thinking the plaster would be the most realistic way to create the originals; although I would most likely cast them in resin later for strength at the very least. So I've been making little styrene stamps to press eldar-ish symbols into wet plaster that I'll texture. When its dry I'll break the sheet up into tiles for the marble bases.

Does anyone have a reference image for what an infinity gate or world spirit are supposed to look like?

Sorry I have to post fast I'm running late for work: :*)

Here an idea for the walker leg configuration. I still have worked the connection between the to yet.

More later!

Hi All! I nearly done with the big KOS...tonight for sure...maybe....

Anyway here's some progress:

Full body stuff first.

For the last two days I've been smoothing the model and correcting minor defects in the surface. As well as correcting some basic anatomy and silhouette issues. That's all pretty much done now, and while not all that noticeable in the pictures to follow they would be really obvious if it was sitting on your desk. I still have to clean up the head, but I been focused on getting the teeth and tongue in place for that part.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/21/59429_md-.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/21/59428_md-.JPG

Parts Breakdown:

Here's the model broken down into its components, for easy casting. So, you got: the main body, 2x arms, 2x clawed arms, head, and tongue. Their will also be a separate piece for the loincloth. Other parts that I haven't decided on yet may include: a cod piece, second head, alternate hands, and sword.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/21/59426_md-.JPG

Head Close Ups:

Two thing to note here: one the tongue is a completely separate piece, want to GS as longer one, no problem. Second the teeth are metal, clipped stick pins actually. I'm not sure how well they'll cast yet, but we'll see how it goes.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/21/59425_md-.JPG

Well that's it for today. I've been trying to keep this model far enough away from GW IP as possible while trying to keep the feel of the original art. Let me know how I'm doing? I say remove the crab claws and he's pretty generic looking.

Questions:

1. Should the claws be toothed like the current GW KOS?

2. Does he need ears?

3. Does he need eyes?

4. Does he need anything else?

More Soon!

Still deciding on the pregnant soul grinders head, etc. How about something like this?

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/21/59486_md-.jpg

Perhaps a Slaanesh symbol branded into her forehead.

And now for something completely different!

Instruments!

Not really that useful in 40k, but useful in War hammer Fantasy. Anyway I already decided to not use that abomination that comes in the Daemonette box. So, I've decide to go with a combination of Dark Elf horns and custom flutes. I choose flutes for the obvious innuendo connotations. :*) A couple of pose ideas:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/21/59490_md-.jpg

and this:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/21/59487_md-.jpg

Well not exactly not like the that, imagine a hot daemonette instead. :P

:P Fantastic as usual!

Just two things on the KOS that don't convince me 100%:

first, the "base" of the horns; second, the shape of the fingers on the left side hand. I am not sure you are done with the detaling and texturnig work on this model, anyway, so it may be just that.

I also think gems-like eyes would look good on "him".

Other than that, your job is stunning! Please keep posting!!!!

P.S. I am not sure I got it.. so will you finally place a cannon barrel on the pregnant grinder's womb? I like the idea of the rised symbol, anyway!

EDIT: that concept is fabulous, I VOTE for a head like that one!

man I really love your pregger farseer walker monstrosity! Great job on the KoS so far too...

1. i think toothed would make it look more crab-like which is more slaneeshy in my mind. smoothed as it is right now looks more insect-like which makes me think nurgle minus the boils and sores

2,3,4: I really think the bull imagery works well with slaneesh and personally think if you made the face of your KoS to reflect that...it'd take your lovely model to the next level (it looks good now but more like a standard demon). so i imagine some longer bovine ears sticking out to the side, flaring flattened nose, and some pissed off looking eyes...

Hey guys!

A small update for you, some very WIP Gorgons "Counts as Horrors". I'm doing 12 - 24 of these.

I still have to sculpt some new upper arms on most of them. Their hands and forearms are bits from grave ghouls box set, and lots of hair spray, and 1980's style big hair. :D

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/22/59672_md-Daemonettes,%20Daemons,%20Horrors,%20Pink%20Horror,%20Slaanesh,%20Slaaneshi.jpg

I was originally going to do snake hair or large dreadlocks like the FW KOS. I still may, but its so easy to just use these heads. think glowing hands and eyes with perhaps some sculpted flames in a couple of hands will sell the concept.

More Later!

Is it too late to vote for ideas? Cause I've got a couple..

While you did some awesome work on the face, somehow I think it'd look better if she was blindfolded.. It kinda adds to the "SURPRISE!" effect of whatever will come out..

For tummy symbols, I vote for the Galactic Republic symbol from Star Wars:

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/d/de/Republic_Emblem.svg/250px-Republic_Emblem.svg.png

and despite putting it off a bunch (I've been trying to hammer out an entire army for a tournament in 2 days) I am working on that art I said I'd do, so chances are it'll be done by Tuesday assuming nothing else comes up. I have some fun ideas you might dig.

  • 2 weeks later...

Whoa...has it been that long? Oy! :P I got caught up in work and some commision work, but we are now back on track...well for a while anyway.

Anywho here's an update. Lots of stuff going on here.

Pregnant Soulgrinder:

Only a little progress on the Pregnant grinder. As I ran into difficulties, with the original walker concept. The freaking walker was to freaking big.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/19/59236_md-Daemons,%20Sculpting,%20Slaanesh,%20Soul%20Grinder.jpg

I some how forgot that just the pregnant Farseer model was already the size of the GW grinder! Duh! So, the throne/walker/birthing-chair has to fit within the the dimension of the existing model.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/10/7/57308_md-Daemons,%20Slaanesh,%20Slaaneshi,%20Soul%20Grinder,%20Soulgrinde.jpg

So, here's what I've come up with so far:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/2/61891_md-.JPG

Just drilled out the belly gun. I've also don a lot of clean up, detailing and sanding.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/2/61893_md-.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/2/61895_md-.JPG

After researching some how shall we say less than wholesome sites. I decided to go with a having the main arms suspended in mid-air by a shackle-bar restraint. I leave the hands as they are because they would be under tension and spasmodic anyway, so it kind fits.

P.S.

by the way, im planning on converting myself a Ku'Gath model (out of a tennis ball) and was wondering. what do you use to make your guys (like the Kepper of Secrets/Soul Grinder guy)? Is it a type of putty? if so whats it called? where can i get it? an how expensive is it?also would it work with a "skin" of green stuff as a final layer? ;)

Thanks!

For modeling I use Super Sculpey for the base sculpting, and follow up with a layer of Aves Sculpt epoxy putty. Its not to expensive, certainly much cheaper than green stuff or milliput and certainly easier to use as it has no memory and sculpts like clay. I'd go with super sculpey over a ball of aluminum for your project. You can get 1# of super sculpy for around $7-8 at Michael or any well stocked arts & craft store. You could even get regular white sculpey its cheaper still, but doesn't hold details as well. Since, your thinking of skining in green stuff anyway; your better off saving the cash.

If you have any other questions let me know.
