Slaaneshi Themed Daemon Army

So, I got the molds for the princess poured, here are some pictures. I'm using a transparent silicon rubber called "Sort-a-Clear" by Smooth-on; that makes it super easy to cut open the molds without costly errors. The trick with clear silicon is that your mold box must be absolutely smooth to achieve maximum clarity. Any grain refracts the light penetrating the block and you won't be able to see through it. I use homemade foam core box, with the inside lined with clear packing tape. It works a treat.

I'll get the molds cut tonight, and should have the first assembled cast posted up before morning.

More Later!

So are you planning on selling any of these casts? Caus I'm interested in the soulgrinder!!!!

Well here what I've been wasting time on for the last couple of days. this is was to test out a few things. The Daemon Princess #2's body is molded finally. Also I was testing out a tentacle head concept, which while incomplete seems to be working...yeah! And I had a plastic LOTR fell beast lying around, so I looked at the wing and said...hmmm...just about the right size. Here's the result.

I don't plan on using the dragon wings in this army mind you...I like the feathered wings better. The juxtaposition of soft downy feathers and hard scaly crab claws is such a nice contrast.

Anyway, everything else is still in progress...updates to follow!

Yeah, looking at these wings made start sculpting a set of spread feathered wings. I also got this new flexible resin, so I can make them thinner with no fear of the breaking. The manufacturer says that it accepts priming and painting very well. If it works out okay I'll do the head tentacles, and fabric with the same stuff.

New flexible resin? Thinner, stronger, detailing? And it likes paint? Sounds mouthwatering already.. I'm beginning to believe the dark god is channeling seductive creations through you.

Lucky us

Yet again, can't wait to see what your nimble fingers make. Going by the wings you've already sculpted, fanned out spread wings are going to look insanely pretty. This might end up the tallest miniature in your collection so far.

So here is the actual finished DP Mark 2:

Other things:

1. DP Mark 3 is being worked on, and should be ready this week.

2. The Soul Grinder is undergoing some extensive HR Giger inspired carving and detailing.

3. The large KOS is getting re-worked to bring out the musculature, and anatomy.

4. My re-envisioned fiends are nearly done, save for the alternate heads.

...and work permitting I may even paint a squad of daemonettes...hah!

More Later!

That hair looks so good, better than I thought after the batwing teaser images with incomplete hair. Gotta say too that in these new photographs, they really show off the princess. Smooth finish and crisp armoured detail, and I love that claw.

Can't wait to see what embelishments you make to your "other things".

Soulgrinder:

So, I've been studying some Giger art books i picked up online...um...wow! I saw a Giger Slaaneshi chariot the other day, and I must make at least 4 of those. August can't get here fast enough I wants my plastic seekers. The new mounts look great and are a lot beefier that the old ones. The Soulgrinder will definitely be receiving some Giger-style lovin'....ewww....

I also started on sculpting some Giger-esque bits to cast up to convert up the vehicles for some true-scale Emperors Children; I want to make to go along with my other Slannesh army.

Oh yeah.... :)

Ponytail looks very energetic, I can imgine that swishing around and being almost like its own parrying weapon against those sneaky rear attackers (I'd say it was if narrating the account of a battle report). She even looks like shes amused and devious with that expression.

Fleshwhip, giant claw, ponytail, dangerous combination if she were in a martial arts movie. Opponants will feel lucky she didnt put barbs or other sharp things in her hair.. ouch.

Like the studded pasty and the armour, very much like some of the demon sketches in Workshop books. I think they make her all the more intimidating, as if she wasn't dangerous enough, she dressed for war - not a good sign for the enemy.

Love the Fiend, looks like its a sprinter.

I always look forwards to updates on this thread. They look so good. The DP looks quite happy, like she's enjoying her work.

Personally, I'd think the fiend's torso might look better leaning forwards rather than reared up, like it's running with its head down. Rearing up on a few might look good for variation, but that'd ideally need a slightly different pose on the legs.

I'm usually not into the "booby girls" interpretation of Slaanesh, but you've done some wonderfully disturbing work here.

Hooray for boobies!

And in other news I gotta try sculpting seriously someday, this is some really impressive work. I'm going to do some Slaneesh additions to my army in the fall...

At last the DP#3 is all cleaned up and nearly ready for casting:

Their are still a few minor details to clean up, such as the hand in contact with the ground, the alternate arms, and the choker collar. I'm switching to a ball and socket joint for the neck/head connection point, thats similar to what the plastic daemonettes have. While, not as anatomically correct it will allow the head to be posed more easily. Or you could use magnets so that the head would be pose-able.

Another turn-around with a different head:

And lastly a picture with the scabbard:

While working on the scabbard it occurred to me that unless the thing was much larger that the actual sword, you could never pull the sword out. But that doesn't look nearly as cool, but she's a daemon, so maybe it phases through the scabbard or whatever... :tu:

you shouldn't be allowed to sculpt... in the same way the heavy weight boxers are not allowed to fight featherweights and in the same way jackie chan doesn't enter tournaments against 4 year olds.

seriously though, this all looks fantastic and i agree with the scabbard thing, i can't imagine a huge one making it look cool.

cant wait to see some more :D
