S. Bloodhowl
For modeling I use Super Sculpey for the base sculpting, and follow up with a layer of Aves Sculpt epoxy putty. Its not to expensive, certainly much cheaper than green stuff or milliput and certainly easier to use as it has no memory and sculpts like clay. I'd go with super sculpey over a ball of aluminum for your project. You can get 1# of super sculpy for around $7-8 at Michael or any well stocked arts & craft store. You could even get regular white sculpey its cheaper still, but doesn't hold details as well. Since, your thinking of skining in green stuff anyway; your better off saving the cash. Cheers mate can you buy this stuff online? I live in the uk you see. Also when you say base sculpting do you mean sculpting a base for a model to stand on or a base to build the model from (like a skeleton sort of thing)? thanks a lot for your help. S. Bloodhowl
Hey man I had a look online and asked around but i cant get this stuff easily (nearest place to get it is a 2hr drive! :( ). However I have been told that Milliput would be a good material to use and i can get it for less than a fiver in town, do you have any idea if this would be good enough to use? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165546-slaaneshi-themed-daemon-army/page/11/#findComment-2175005 Share on other sites

Sersi
Well, the galleries not letting me upload at the moment, no idea why. So, I'm rolling with photobucket this morning... Yeah, I know...I know... My hope is that I don't burn through a month of bandwidth in a day this time. <_< Keeper of Secrets: This guy is done except for some minor work on the clavicles and scapula's to get those looking more anatomically correct. Changes: 1. I lengthened the left leg and altered to pose slightly to correct the proportions. 2. He's got a loincloth now, is fully removable (man I love Aves Sculpt). 3. There's a Slaanesh button on the loincloth that I just press molded off the WF Slaanesh champions banner pole. 4. Yes, there is a nasty crack in the right leg, that needs to be filled. 5. He has re-sculpted neck anatomy. 6. Constructed a new scimitar like sword of styrene and Aves sculpt. 7. Re-sculpted the hand to hold the sword. The whole model will breakdown into the following parts: Head, torso & legs, clawed arms, arms, sword, tounge, loincloth, icon of Slaanesh. And now without further ado the nearly, almost finished, 99.99% done Keeper of Secrets: http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6721.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6723.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6724.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6725.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6726.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6727.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6728.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6729.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6731.jpg Detail on the loincloth: http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6747.jpg Yeah! Sersi
Soulgrinder: Only a minor update on her today. Changes: 1. Added shackles to the main arms and legs along with some copper wire loops. The will be further detailed with clasps and rivets soon. Ultimatly these will be bound together with modeling chain. 2. Minor anatomy work tho the lower back and buttocks. 3. I also enlarged the praying hands to match the supporting hands. To Come: 1. Clawed hands digging into the belly. 2. Veins on the belly. 3. Pointed Ears. 4. Detailing the Throne. The model will breakdown into the following parts: Head & torso, legs, arms, and throne. Anyway here she is the Pregnant Soulgrinder: http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6776.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6777.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6779.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6780.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6781.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6782.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6783.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6784.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6785.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6786.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6787.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165546-slaaneshi-themed-daemon-army/page/11/#findComment-2177229 Share on other sites

Sersi
Daemonettes: I'm doing these to spruce up the rank and file daemonettes with some variety. These are all based off casts of a daemonette model that I reposed and re-sculpted to be similar to the old daemonette models. http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6761.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6762.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6763.jpg The model on the far left that groping one breast and holding a bolt pistol? She's my future counts as Changeling model. ~8) She 'll be getting a Commisar's cap and jacket eventually. http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6764.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6765.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6766.jpg Notice the daemonette with single wing? She's inspired by Sephiroth, I figure she's a demoted Fury, that pissed off her KOS resulting in a ruined wing. Sersi
My current Display Case: I have officially run out of space for this army. :*) So, I'm going to Ikea to pick up another one. <_< http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6751.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6740.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6741.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq3/Fifth_miracle/11-5-2009/IMG_6742.jpg Oh and I'm now caught up on work and all my commission... aekold
I really admire your sculpting skills. A quick question though. Where did you get those white stands you use in your Ikea showcase? I have the very same showcase and I could really use that kind of stand. Frostbit3
It may not work with the cannon barrel, but what if instead of doing veins on the belly, you did tiny hands pushing out from the inside, with the skin stretched, as if her belly was full, and the daemons were trying to push their way out. I couldn't find any source pictures when looking real quick, but if you've ever seen the art where a person is inside of a latex/rubber ball, or behind a sheet, pushing it. That is what I mean. But I dunno, it may ruin the lines of an already beautiful model. Sersi
That's a good Idea. I don't think it will work on this project, but it should work nicely on this little nid project that I got planned....oh...suspense. <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165546-slaaneshi-themed-daemon-army/page/11/#findComment-2177821 Share on other sites
Messanger of Death
That's a good Idea. I don't think it will work on this project, but it should work nicely on this little nid project that I got planned....oh...suspense. :) In both the movie A Nightmare on Elm Street and in Constantine you can see this effect. In Elm Street movie you see Freddy trying to get through the wall (special effects used a black latex wall) and in Constantine you actually get a daemon trying to escape from the stomach of the person they have possessed. The Constantine one would really work well in my opinion but it may not have the look you are after. Sersi
Okay, so I'm trying to get the pregger's done tonight, and needed to get the legs for the throne done. I was going to go with mechanical looking styrene legs...until I realized that the legs on the other grinder were just the right size. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/8/63067_md-.JPG Sometimes in the course of making something cool, sacrifices must be made... So, reluctantly took out my dremel and chopped my six-legged grinder up for spare parts. :'( http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/9/9/52367_md-Daemon%20Engine,%20Daemon%20Machine,%20Daemons,%20Defiler,%20Defilerette,%20Slaanesh,%20Slaaneshi,%20Soul%20Grinder,%20Soulgrinde.jpg Now, don't feel to bad as she just wasn't working out: to symmetrical, to static, to boring, not sexy enough. Exhibit A: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/9/13/53153_md-Daemons,%20Slaanesh,%20Slaaneshi,%20Soul%20Grinder,%20Soulgrinde.jpg Anyway here's the idea I'm going with now: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/8/63065_md-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/8/63066_md-.JPG I'm thinking of making the chain legs mechanical, say like hedonism bot from Futurama. Someone suggested it before, but I don't recall who. Comments and suggestions are as always welcome. More Today! Okay, people have been yammering for pics of the entire army. Here ya go: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/9/63307_md-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/9/63306_md-.jpg http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/11/9/63311_md-.JPG Whoops! looks like I resized these by mistake. Sersi
I'm back!!! :D Well, my forced..er..um. voluntary overtime finally over and I can finally get back to doing some fun stuff. Daemon Princesses: I re-sculpting heads and some details on these. The goal being to have one done and molded and cast for sale by this weekend. Here's some progress: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/23/92241_sm-.JPG I'm giving her an open mouth, and re-sculpting the features, especially the eyes; which were quite poor. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/23/92247_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/23/92248_sm-.JPG Color Scheme: Oh and I tested out a color scheme...and not there not done but here a peak. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/23/92243_sm-.JPG I Also started back working on some true scaled Emperors Children: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/23/92242_sm-.JPG More pic to night. I plan on documenting the entire molding process. I'm using a new crystal clear silicon rubber and have some tips on how to use it on miniatures. Later! Sersi
So, updates: Soulgrinder: - Lots of re-sculpting going on on this one. Here's the bottom of the throne: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/26/92947_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/26/92946_sm-.JPG - I decided to revered the direction of the chair as it looked sexier and allowed for the preggers' hands to rest on the platform, rather than overhang the edge. - The legs will grow more or less techno-organically out of the bottom of the seat. - I'm considered adding some two more deformed/shriveled legs to the front pair to complete the butt/crotch area there. They would be folded under the chair and only really visible on closer inspection. The idea creeped out several co-workers, so I think is a good one. Daemon Princess #1: Wings: - I took a dremel and files to these to remove some how shall we save...less than perfect detailing. Something like a 2/3 of the feather details will be re-sculpted. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/26/92956_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/26/92954_sm-.JPG The head: Admittedly, she's looking a bit rough at the moment. But I'm going back to establish the bony anatomy first. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/26/92948_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/26/92951_sm-.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/3/26/92949_sm-.JPG - She won't look nearly as happy or fugly when done...I hope... Sersi
A tad off topic, but can you paint? Oh I can paint, went to art school and everything. ;) Now painting minis, well just say I'm a bit rusty. I still need a color scheme, but I seen some truly epic looking daemonettes painted of Coominiornot lately. So I very interested in doing something like them. I'm not the best painter in the world, but I finally have time to get in some practice....so....here's hoping. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165546-slaaneshi-themed-daemon-army/page/11/#findComment-2334662 Share on other sites
