My Ultramarines

I have decided to take my terminators which I so rarely use and convert them to a "Deathwing" army or in this case an "UltraWing" Army. Have stripped down and repainted most of my termies and have now converted up a command squad, which can be seen below.

I have gone for an Old School look with the hazard stripes and the red bolters. Stripes are a bastard to paint and not as straight as I would like but they will do. I also like that every one in the squad is different which will be helpfull with wound allocation.

As far as I know theres no rules for teminators command squads anymore but these look Amazing and I like the converting on the apothacary.

I don't mind making models for the sake of coolness but I like to have the option to use them in games, If there are rules for these then someone let me know because looking at these inspired me to make a unit of my own

Are those FW shoulder pads? they look pretty good.

although i though the skull on the ultra 'U' on the AC termy donated the unit sergeant??

could just be me being thick, i guess he is a veteran after all

I have had a look at the codex and while it does say that the skull denotes a sergeant it also says that it is a decoration that can be found anywhere from helmets, pads even shell cases. Also the sergeant one should be red.

Has been a quiet few weeks. Have painted up the Bolter element of a devestator squad which I am not going to post as really, they are bog standard blue marines :)

I have also done up a new Terminator Sergeant. Special thanks to The Prophet for his quick tutorial on how to do the glaive. Also, just to make GC08 happy I have given him the skull in U shoulder pad and even painted it red :)

Has been not that a productive time over the last few weeks. Work tends to cut into my painting time. However I have managed the odd mini....

I got a new Assault Marine box for Christmas and have now put it together and painted it up. Done only 1 minor conversion to the squad which is the axe on the sergeant. This squad, Squad VIII, will have all plasma pistols unlike my other Assault Squad which was all flamer (Squad VII)

I also finished up the Chapter Champion. While I was really thrilled with the paint job I was less than impressed how the varnish went on. I tried a new brand, Humbrol Matt Cote, and did not read the instructions right. Unlike GW varnish this actually needs to be mixed. I only discovered this after 2 very shiny coats. So the matt coat was the 3rd layer. I think its too much and has obscured some detail but I was in no mood to strip and repaint the mini. Anyways it will do for now.

I also gave this fellow a name, returning a favour as it were

Now I am really proud of this fellow. He is going to be the Sergeant of Squad IV. He is a conversion of the AOBR Sergeant. Armed with only a X-acto knife and a file I did a head swap and then did some other bits and pieces. All in all there are pieces from 6 different boxes on this guy. I also admit that this pose was shamelessly stolen from this THREAD though I maintain mine looks better ^_^

I'm going to be annoying and say the pose on the AoBr conversion looks slightly awkward; his body is twisted away from the firing arm making him look like he's been caught half turn. It's a minor thing I know, but I thought I'd point it out. But nonetheless the paint job is simply stellar, smooth and eye catching. I have nothing but praise on that account.
