I just saw this this... Never had a Tweety Bird named after me... I am indeed very flattered ODm and thank you very much, especially considering I appear to be the only DA player on this board who has failed to complete his LPC Vow!!

The storm Raven on the otherhand is coming along very nicely. Excellent work!:)

Thanks Isiah.

SG, I think you might have overreached a bit with your vow! What was it, 1000 or so terminators?

Well, the armor highlighting is progress at a decent pace. I think I'm about 1/4 done with it. Hopefully pics at some point soon.

Well, It's been a while since I've posted. I have been making slow progress. It's one of those times where I'm just not motivated. However, we're slowly moving to completion. On the green edging, only the wings are left. From that point it'll be a little be of weathering, and then any markings I want to add, and then done.

Maybe in ODM world. Compared to my speed, you must be turbo boosting every turn. That's a lot of edge highlighting to do anyway. Looking great.

Looks very good in DA green I have to say. It may be the angle, but you don't seem to notice the rather bulbous nose of the Stormraven so much. Maybe green is slimming?

Timidly puts his hand up....

Not the only one......

I got the speeder done, same for the arms on Belials command squad but the bodies are still W.I.P...

I share your shame and I have even less great work to show for it.

@ODM, looking well as usual, but I am on the side that would see it a Ravenwing speeder. crossing the Landraider picture with the Stormraven in my mind would have made for a monster of a flying beast.

Thanks for the feedback guys. A Ravenwing version would have been very cool, but just wouldn't work with my internal logic.

Here's the bird with the highlighting complete. Next, some mild weathering, and then, a few markings, and that'll be all she wrote.

I would say give the engines a couple of washes, they seem to bright, shiny, and happy??? From the picture, it seems to clash with the deep dark brooding green on the rest of the aircraft. Might be the lighting but engines in particular just doesn't seem to live up to it's name.

But who the bleep am I kidding. It is still a far better job than I can do, hands down.

Ace paint job!

Thanks Belial. It was definitely the lighting, as the engines have some nice color to them.

Here's the final bird. It belongs to the chapter's motor pool.

Why doesn't GW contact you to do the painting for them? I think the sales would so increase if your work was on the boxes and pictures. I was not impressed with what GW has shown and no interest to buy it. But looking at this, if I had the money, I would have saved my money and bought this, you work is exemplary.

Thanks guys. I think the poor photography does me justice in this case, as the paint job certainly isn't GW quality. I do agree that the color scheme makes the model though. The blood angel red and the silver version just don't do it for me.

For weathering I just use a brush. No advanced techniques.

  • 1 month later...

Well, after a month or so of real life, I'm back for a little addition to the boys in green. I decided I needed another tactical squad, and that some Black Reach marines I had lying around would do the job perfectly.

So, here they are assembled. I'm still deciding whether they should be DA or a successor. I already have one successor squad in the army, and my veterans are all mixed, so another squad might be neat. However, adding another DA squad would help me bulk out the 4th company, past the halfway mark.

If I get some momentum, I have a bit more to follow these guys, however, no word on that until they're complete.

This is truly inspirational, got me thinking about my DA again. What do you use to highlight your ravenwing, as it's subtle enough to look good!

Thanks Imperial Monkey. I use the battlefortress grey (or something like that) from the foundation paints line. It's just right.

So here's some progress. Just a quick pic.

As you can see the packs are done, and most of the details on the marines, except the green armor highlighting.

Here are a couple more updates. The packs are complete, and all details are on the marines to, except the green highlighting. That's the next step. After that, the weapons.
