DGC Posted November 3, 2009 Share Posted November 3, 2009 There's some cool looking stuff coming up in this thread - wish it could be stickied but have read the previous reason ( :( ) Anyhow, here are the first couple of pics of my take on a 'young' Logan. Like Maccon, I play Logan's Nightrunners and with the new rules i am feeling the need to field him - but as Wolf Lord to his own company. I have started with a bit of a kit bash using the legs from one of the new SW Termies and the torso from a regular one (with the detail removed). The first pics are just how he has started and the second two are the beginings of the detail work. I have been working from just two pics of Logan and the metal mini. One in the last dex and the one in the new dex - thing being, they are both different. So using artistic licence, I am taking bits from both. The most noticable parts being the axe and the side mounted storm bolter. The heads in the pics are quite different - one very hairy, the other looks almost bald on top, so the head on the mini at the moment is just to work with until I decide which way to go. The crux shoulder pad is from the regular termies and is 90%+ (could be 100% but I may be wrong) the same as the one on the old metal Logan model. Rizara Posted November 3, 2009 Share Posted November 3, 2009 WOW i really like that pose you got for the young logan. So far hes shaping up nicely tho he does need lots more work. As for the head..i kinda like that head, i just think the beard should be a bit longer, or at least start having him develop his more signature braided stash type look. Its definitely inspirational at the very least. I am still working out some ideas for my Grimblood conversion and seeing how i can't find any real fluff on whether or not he should be in power armor or terminator armor. I am opting for the power armor but tempting to make him larger than the average marine(more of a truescale) to show hes a bear of a man. I am definitely going with a combi flamer but also debating if i should convert up a wrist mounted combi flamer or stick with the standard combi weapon in hand look. DGC Posted November 3, 2009 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks for the interest folks looking good althoug i think tha axe his handle is a bit too long I have based this on the drawing in the new codex where the axe shaft looks to be some what longer and thinner than the one on the model and the fact Logan can use the axe 'as' a thunder hammer I figured the extra length sort of helped me see this as believable. The head does look O.K but isn't stuck in yet, just held there with some sticky-tack whilst I work on him. I have built my army in a time 10,000 years ago. Bjorn as Great Wolf does indeed still fall under the stones. And I have no problem if you want to catagorize me under 13th co. RabidWulfen Posted November 5, 2009 Share Posted November 5, 2009 I'm a total newbie when it comes to converting, but this sounds like epic fun and i found a really impressive Wulfen conversion on this sight which has just wet my appetite for conversion work, as a result i would like to have a stab at doing Bran Redmaw, but I'm gonna do him like the rumours say, as a wulfen in full combat furry, will post when i get started but it may take awhile as ive got exams this month. DGC Posted November 11, 2009 Share Posted November 11, 2009 Here's another little update ( Mods - feel free to bust me if i should be doing an 'individual' w.i.p thread :huh: ) I have been trying my hand at GSing the familiar 'Logan' hair and tash. I have always been a bit weary of GS except for the most basic things but felt I just had to try a bit harder or Logan just wouldn't look right. For simplicitys sake I have used some hair braids from the SW sprues and GSed them in place. Also made the teeth and GS-cast the wolf skull on the necklace.
