You know, I would actually do that. The Inquisition can go feth themselves for all I care.

And also, nice way to bring me out of my lurk.

And please, I want to rip that Inquisitor's head from his shoulders. And do it in front of everyone.

how much tau is into the child, because sure the space wolves are the protector of the innocent etc, but don't forget we're also the emperors finest and that the xenos are still our enemies as well. if the halfborn really possed a threat or was a "mutant" i can see any of us taking his bolter or pistol to it. warfare ain't always pretty. for all we know it might even be a hardwired assasin, braincontrolled or something along the likes so that once it grows up it can execute a certain officer. or how about it carrying an epidemic decease with it? frankly i don't care about what that stiffy inquisitor says but i'm more worried about that halfbreed xenos! because lets not forget, we are the emperors chosen executionners
And you know we'll all have your back too

Always.

@Hendrik: Yeah, we might need to kill the little xenos monster, but its doing nothing hostile while an Inquisitor is effectively pointing a weapon at a pack brother. Priorities, all I'm saying.

guess i missed the weapon thing. i just reread it and still couldn't find the inquisitor pointing a weapon hence my reply. if he were pointing a weapon it would still be easy, disarm, disloacete shoulder, disengage and kill the xenos

sure it aint pretty or the nice thing to do but it's pretty much standard procedure on how we deal with any foe.

ask yourself the question, what would we do if it were the baby of a heretic cult covered in rhinous symbols?

The Inquisitor looked over and said "The Emperor's will be done." and walked towards the girl and child. She broke away and ran to Firenze, "Please sir, you saved this child, do not let him kill her!" As the girl begged for the child's life, the Inquisitor strode towards them. Firenze drew one of his runic axes and pointed it at the Inquisitor, who stopped in his tracks. "No Inquisitor, I know my duty to the Emperor, if this must be done..........then I will have to do it......" He could barely force the words out, remembering the feel of the infant's fingers around his own in the darkness. The young woman looked on in horror as the grief in his voice was clear to all. She fell to her knees and looking up said quietly "T'leesa died to protect ALL our children, why must you dishonor her sacrifice? If you are going to kill this child, you will have to do it by striking through me as well." So saying she held the child to her and knelt down, covering the infant with her own body. Silence gripped them all, the Wolves bowed their heads, hating the burden of duty, truly it was easier to face their enemies in face to face battle than this.

Then a distant buzzing was heard. It grew louder, coming from the shattered hillside where the fiercest fighting had been on the small colony moon. Small fast skimmers popped up from the horizon, then the distinctive, organic shape of Tau transports came over the rise. The numbers continued to grow and then the Crisis Suits could be seen as well. They stopped counting at two dozen suits and twenty transports as they raced towards the Imperial forces. Stopping just outside of weapon's range, one solitary Devilfish drew closer at a walking pace. Stopping a few dozen paces away, it settled to the ground, then a hatch opened. An ancient Tau in beautiful, ornate robes stepped out, unarmed except for a package wrapped in cloth. Looking closely at Firenze, he paid no heed to the others there. He spoke softly, the wind nearly carrying his words away. "I would speak with you face to face Warrior" Removing his helmet, Firenze locked eyes with the old one. The Taun nodded as he measured the Wolf, then said "We have come to honor you, the mother of the child was calling us when the squig was loosed upon them. We saw her death and heard her cries. Then we saw sometnig else, a warrior who placed himself deliberately in harm's way to rescue the children, and ignoring his own wounds brought out a single child. I must ask you, did you know it was a Tau child you were rescuing?" "No, and honestly, with my vow to the Emperor, I do not know what I would have done had I known. " The Ethereal nodded as he weighed the answer. "we respect your honesty Wolf, will the child be killed if left here?" "Yes, all the Emperor's enemies and those who would aid them must die." hissed the Inquisitor. The Tau looked back at Firenze, "Is this true, the girl would be slain too?" "Yes it is what many would do." The Ethereal spoke again, this time to the girl "Go, walk to the transport and get aboard, you will be safe there." The Inquisitor started to say something but suddenly realized that Jonas' chain axe was at his throat. "Not one sound, do you understand?' was all he said. The Tau then smiled and walking to Firenze said, "This is a bonding knife, given as recognition of valor and courage. You showed valor in rescuing the child and courage in speaking the truth to an enemy. Bear it with honor. This moon does not have the value my people need, tell your other warriors we are departing. We do not wish for more battle." He then turned and walked back to his transport and climbed aboard leaving many dark thoughts to run through the minds of the Wolves.

I would have, but I'm at my quota for killing Imperial idiots after dicing that trigger happy admiral ;)

Damn your quota...... :P

If I killed all the "friendlies" there'd be none left for you ;)

Yay! A new weapon!! epic.

It would be the new toy that gets your attention, Iron Priest. :D

Hmmm...

I will say that you did a very good job writing this piece, Old Wolf. I have to say though, it doesn't seem right that we let the Emperor's enemies just drive right up to us, take the baby, gift us with a xenos weapon, and peacefully drive off again. My opinion of course.
