commander alexander
"......... You HAVE got to be kidding me," Forte said in disbelief. "What? What is your problem pup?" gruffed Járngrímr as he continued to make some adjustments. "That, that contraption of yours, does it even work?" "Yes" "Does it go fast?" "Yes" "And in Russ' name what is all that scrap on the bottom of it?" "Just a little extra something," "And I'm supposed to ride in that, with you?" "By Russ' beard boy, YES!" "...... Okay." commander alexander
Irlin was surveying the area, and a dismal place it was. What was once a beautiful little city, was now rubble and ruin, tainted by chaos when the blood of its innocent people filled the gutters. Ahead lay an important administratum building, fortified to protect against alien invasion or rebellion. Now, it served to aid those it was designed to keep out. Their pack had been observing, and quietly fighting a chaos borne uprising in the city, and this was one of the key locations. There were an estimated 200 rebels inside, along with some armor and heavy weapons. "Scum, killing their own people while the Dark Eldar have already been laying waste," growled Vassakov. "Their treachery will not go unpunished," Irlin turned and looked at the testy wolf. Agitation written on his face. "What's got your fur rubbed the wrong way?" "It's that damn lot Decoy sent out." "You mean Járngrímr, those two pups?" "Yes." "Why?" "That Járngrímr, can make things go 'boom' that even Firenze and the other Iron priests scratch their heads at. And those two pups? Wilder than a pair of spring hares. That group is likely to get us all blown up, let alone themselves." All Irlin could do is grin, and ask himself 'I wonder what they're doing right now?' commander alexander
Decoy walked over to the Rune Priest, and said, "It is time Irlin, how about a little snow and wind?" Irlins reply came in the form of eldritch light in his eyes, and mumbled words, echoing with power. Decoy could only imagine the amount of effort that it took to create weather, even if only an area as large as the target building and surrounding streets. It was however, extremely helpful to the wolves, it brought their element with them. Decoy activated his vox on the pack's channel, "Everyone get in position, Járngrímr are you ready?" After a short delay his vox chimed, "just a few minutes." "Good, that is all you have." " Járngrímr here, to the ghosts. Has the Greenhorn dropped of 'the packages'?" "Ghosts here, we have 'the package'." "Package ghosts? There should be two packages, you should also have gotten two 'keys'" "One moment 'Grímr." "Oh by Russ's aching backside" he said aloud, "Do not let Greenhorn 'deliver' or 'unlock' either packages, ghosts." All he was given was silence. "Oh boy." commander alexander
After a few minutes a good bit of wind and snow was all around the administratum building, just enough to give the 'Wolves an extra edge. Decoy began checking on everyone in the pack. When he got to the scouts and Járngrímr, there had been a small hiccup, but it had been resolved. "Alright everyone, Bloodclaws, let's make some noise." Decoy and the Bloodclaws took up long chilling howls, and moved forward, from ruin to ruin. "Alright Forte, get in." "'Grímr, is that what I think it is?" "Oh, so you can use your eyes again now can you?" Forte got a wicked smile, like some child who just got an mischievous idea. "Hurry up and get in. Mind your neck, I didn't know what to do with the accelerator. This either goes all out, or not at all." Decoy and the Bloodclaws were now moving their way from craters to piles of rubble in the courtyard. They began to shoot into the main gate, and the windows on either side. There was not much of a delay, for they had given their enemy fair warning. Auto weapon shots and las rifle beams lashed out at them from the windows as the main doors open up. As soon as the doors opened, the foul stench of chaos taint assaulted them, even out in the wind. A mass of heretics and mutants swarmed out of the gate, rushing towards the young wolves and decoy. A 'mass' wasn't really the right word. The heretics that had, or were beginning to mutate, had cloven feet, and stretched out faces. As they caught sight of the 'Wolves, they brayed and bellowed. This was a proper herd. "Well they know how to make proper----- themselves!" Decoy had missed part of what Jonas said in the racket. Following close behind was a pair of Chimera variants and a Sentinel. Just about as Decoy was about to give the signal, he saw something else. In the darkness within the doors, a Leman Russ battle tank. It was too far behind the other vehicles to get caught in the trap with them. "We will have to hold! Ghosts, as soon as you see the battle tank half-way through the gates, do it!" "Bloodclaws! For Russ!" With that they let out wild howls and battle cries, oaths of war. They met the braying herd with a blood fury, and heretics flew in the air, as if waves crashing upon the rocks. The mutants may have inspired humor upon a first look, but that was soon forgotten in the fighting. Hooves were harder than they should have been, sharper and longer, swung by crazed creatures. And then there were those who still had hands and could make use of other weapons. They harassed the wolves while the bellowing mass charged them in frenzies. Then the charges blew. A concussive wave blew over all of them. Slowly, and terribly the two towers flanking the building fell. With a huge wave of dust and snow, the towers crushed all in their way. Heretics and beasts called out in agony, fear, and panic. Now the Grey Hunters came from the surrounding ruins and buildings, firing their weapons into the confused horde. The panic climaxed for a moment, and then they fought back with a fury. Decoys hairs stood on end, the foul stench and touch of warp energy became pungent in the air. In a terrible flash of writhing, sickly light, Hendrik went flying, limp and scorched into the air. A heretic priest was floating in the air above the herd, stretched out like he was being pulled on in all different directions. Foul lighting rapped itself around it's body. A warp-bolt cam arcing towards Decoy and the Bloodclaws, but slowed and then slammed into the ground as if it was forced down. He then noticed Irlin standing by him, at war with the mind of the heretic. The heretic began to squirm, and then his head spun violently around, his neck and mid broken. Decoy was suddenly flying, then slammed into the ground, a painful ringing in his ears. He rolled over, slowly coming to a kneel, and looked over to where he had been fighting. A few yards away, there was a fresh crater. Now that the dust and wind had settled, he could see it. The Leman Russ battle tank had been badly damaged, wrecked by all accounts, but it still had operation of the main gun. "Scouts." "We can't get shots from our position, we're moving." "Warhorse!" "I'm bogged down, I can't get close enough!" With dread Decoy watched the main gun slowly turn, he did not fear his own death, but that of his brothers. With a roar like thunder, and the scream of a banshee, something flew just over his head at terrifying speed and was already past the battlefield. Chunks of gore and body parts were still flying, while two deep scorch marks were across the battle tank, and the 20 feet before or after it. with a nice "whoomp" the main gun popped off the top of the tank and erupted in flame. "Wooooooohhhoooooooo!!!!!!" He heard cry over the vox. It was the young Bloodclaw's voice, Forte. "What are you flying 'Grímr?" Decoy was a little surprised "And what took you so long?" "Well, we had some technical difficulties, and the pup kept complaining of being sick. And I think this used to be some form of Land speeder. I will tell you later." 'Grímr and Forte bolted over the fighting once more, and again the thunder accompanied them with flying body parts. "We will continue to make passes." "Good." The fighting continued on, and Decoy was happy to see the Bloodclaws still alive from the blast, roughed up, but alive. They grouped together to watch each other's backs. Soon there was less than half the heretics left. Jonas' left leg was limp and bleeding heavily through cracked armor. A few others were in rough shape as well . "Those who are the worst injured, fall back, and see if you can find Hendrik." Decoy Ordered. The fighting was still rough, but there would be more risk of the injured dying with them, than the healthy without. Now swathes were being destroyed with 'Grímr and Forte passing over, and the scouts now being able to fire frog missiles into the herd. The Grey Hunters closed in the sides with sweeping fire and experienced combat, while Decoy and the remaining Bloodclaws pushed in with almost pure ferocity alone. Then the smoking ruins of the tank and collapsed towers disappeared in a bright flash of light, and a wave of searing heat. Rolling through the still smoking gate came another Leman Russ Battle tank, with a giant plasma cannon atop it. Flying out behind it came horrible monsters. On cloven feet, they charged forward. They cared not for the rest of their kind, as they swung great muscled arms, and thrashed enormous horned heads to sweep the herd out of their way. Decoy realized they had probably once been ogryn. One put its head down, and charged him, flailing it's arms in powerful sweeps. It came fast and strong. Decoy jumped and stuck his 'claws in the back of the things neck, riding it to the ground while he stuck it, again and again. Something crashed into his side, cracking his armor and sending him flying. He smacked into a pile of rubble and got back up as quickly as he could. He was bleeding internally and had a collapsed lung, maybe two. One of the "minotaur" beasts had struck him with a club and was coming at him again. "This is going to be difficult" he said to himself. Then the things chest erupted with a slurry of gore, as 'Grímr and Forte thundered by. The other "minotaur's" were giving the wolves a harsh beating. Then the tank fired again. Engulfing a group heretics, minotaur, and Grey Hunters all. "'Grímr!!!" "I don't have anything left" "Warhorse!!!" He could see Warhorse make a dash and heretics erupt with heat as the meltagun lashed out at the tank. The beam didn't penetrate, not before another minotaur and heretics were upon him. Over the vox he could hear 'Grímr say, "It's been nice knowing you brothers." 'Grímr's landspeeder came flying like a wind fury, straight into the tank. The following explosion was unreal. The landspeeder sent the whole mess flying back towards the building in a blue inferno of plasma. The elongated blast was enormous, and looked almost like a fang. The wolves fought on, slowly , finally killing all the heretics. Decoy was ragged, as were they all. Slowly they reorganized, and called for their extraction. Currently they were looking after the seriously injured, while the scouts looked for anything left of Hendrik, Forte or 'Grímr. Maverik and a few of the other Grey Hunters had been blasted by the plasma were seriously burned, but the bulk of the minotaurs and heretics had taken the brunt of the weapons destruction. Hendrik didn't take long to find. They found him still sizzling a little bit. His armor was badly scorched, his hair singed, he was twitching a lot, and drooling just a little bit the whole while. When they went to look for 'Grímr and Forte, they weren't expecting much. "We have lost two brave brothers," he admitted, but sent them to look for whatever they could recover anyways. hendrik
Picky-picky. Fine it's done.... I think. (sooo much editing :P ). haha don't worry alex! it more has to do with how one envisions things and how he writes them down. a while ago there was a story by someone in which a space wolf found a hammer inside some ice and then used it to bash in a carnifex's head. now there's nothing wrong with it but there's a huge difference between a space wolf wielding one of these: http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/hammer-1.jpg and one of these: http://i1-games.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Warhammer-40-000-Space-Marine-Only-War-Thunder-Hammer-Trailer_3.jpg just trying to be constructive mate ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/185566-more-tales-from-the-fang/page/19/#findComment-2972175 Share on other sites

commander alexander
Haha, cool. See, our good spirits and cheer is contagious, even in the library :D ! Firenze, had come along with a few of the Wolf Priests in rhino's and Razorbacks to get them. A great saga it was, the story of their fight. What he could not believe was that everyone had survived. After he had arrived, the wolf scouts had voxed in with urgent news. They had found Járngrímr's body lodged into the administratum building, after having gone halfway through. He was in critical condition, but still alive. Firenze along with a Wolf Priest and some medical thralls rushed over in a rhino. Firenze had to carefully pull away debris with his servo-arm. Finally they could pull Járngrímr free. His armor was shattered. He had been smart enough to don his helmet before the impact, and when they pulled the helmet off, he chocked and gasped for air. He was terribly wounded, and the armor had died itself. Before he passed into a coma, he managed to cough out, "Thre-geh-cuh-cuh, clicks East." At this point they had not found Forte yet, and Járngrímr was the last to see him. Firenze headed east along with the scouts to begin looking in that direction. Meanwhile the Rhino headed back to the extraction point with 'Grímr in the hands of the Wolf Priests. Firenze voxed for another Rhino to come out in the direction they were headed. It didn't take long for the scouts to find Forte. He had been propped up against a support beam in a ruined store. His right side was crushed and broken, but he was conscious. Apparently ' Grímr had attempted to slow down before he kicked Forte out, but the speed controls were broken. He had done his best though, and Forte had not had such a rough landing as him. While they waited for the Rhino to come, Firenze finally got a good description, nay ANY description of what 'Grímr had been flying. " Ol' 'Grímr had found a wrecked vehicle dump when we were first approaching the area," Forte said, slightly wheezing, "Decoy tasked ' Grímr, Greenhorn and I to salvage what we could, particularly fuels or whatever we could use for explosives." He had a brief coughing spasm, with which a more blood than phlegm came out. Forte waved aside Firenze's suggestion to stop and rest. "While we were doing that, 'Grímr found a scrapped Land Speeder. It had been some sort of Blood Angel variant, with quick transportation in mind. The controls had been blasted away, and the weapons stripped. 'Grímr though, he swore he could get it running." Forte paused to take some water from Firenze, coughing a little afterwards. "So he sent me and Greenhorn along to search all the other wrecks for explosives. By the time we had an armful each, we brought it back to Ol' 'Grímr, and he already had two detonators made up. So now he was working away while we continued to gather explosives." He got a horrible coughing spasm at this point, which brought some pink foam to his mouth. 'He no doubt has a collapsed or punctured lung or two,' thought Firenze. Forte continued on, "We didn't bother him much for a while, until we had gathered up all the explosives we needed. He told us to rig up a drag or cart to put the explosives on. He then sent Greenhorn to deliver it to the scouts." At this point the scouts standing by gave an exasperated sigh, and rolled their eyes. Firenze had heard how the young Bloodclaw attempted to make off with half the explosives and create his own mayhem on the enemy forces. Forte only grinned," From there, 'Grímr found a few melta weapons and attached them to the bottom, and somehow wire a control to the cockpit. And on the passenger side of the little transport bay, he managed to find a serviceable hurricane bolter, and bolted it to the frame. That's what I got to do." Forte coughed up some more phlegm, but he had that childish grin on his face. Firenze had to chuckle, and scratch his head a little bit at the same time. 'Grímr had managed to build himself a "working" gunship from a pile of scrap. He was puzzled though, at how it could have worked. He was unable to examine it himself, as the speeder and the tank had been completely destroyed. 'Grímr seemed to have the ingenuity of an Ork, which is saying a lot, good or bad. Forte smiled a little bit with him, as best he could. " He couldn't fix all the controls though. It either would go all the way, or nowhere at all. Let me tell you priest, those Blood Angels sure know how to make something 'go!" The Rhino finally pulled up, and he let Forte go into the care of the Wolf Priests. Firenze and the scouts walked back to the extraction convoy, which at this point was ready to move. Firenze climbed into the lead Razorback and sat down as the rear bay shut. He was thinking on what had happened here, and a lot had happened with the packs Decoy led today. "Let's move, I'm sure the rest of the company would like to hear your sagas from today." He heard a ragged cheer in response through his vox. Nowhere, no one else in the galaxy could be more his home and family, than with the sons of Russ.
