SnorriSnorrison
And I must admit the hood looks awesome this way! ;) Thanks for this idea! I'm buying a GK sprue today and will make a libby of my own. Worry not, my skills with green stuff are inferior to yours, so if the libby is half as awesome as yours, I'll consider my goal completed ;) Again, the GK sprue is really nice! I think I'm going to build and paint a regular Knight once the LPCs over, but who knows. Maybe I'll divert into a small army of Teutonic Knights(Templar codex) I've been wanting for 3 years...<_< And I don't consider my GS skills very advanced, I couldn't even sculpt wings! I simply have an idea and then I try to sculpt it, that's all. So that is all you should need. Imagination and will. :) Nice Angels Snorri. Nice conversions and top notch paint jobs ;) I'd had the same idea of combining Sang Guard and Gray Knight pieces for my Librarians. Thank you for proving to me its worth wile :) CTK Thanks man! I like your stuff as well! :) Those two sprues are just too awesome for not combining them, I feel. The only thing I always felt out of place was the thing on the staff, that circle-y Inquisiton symbol...It's just...off. I mean, for GK, it's cool, but not for us normal marines. Had to do something about it! :) Thanks for your input, guys! Maybe I'll get some pictures of my veterans up over the weekend! A little offtop from my side, but after closely inspecting my newly bought GK sprue I thought that the staff shaft can be used as a nice iron halo if the skull inside is removed :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190550-snorris-2nd-company-we-are-bloodied-yet-unbowed/page/8/#findComment-2999139 Share on other sites
SnorriSnorrison
Hi there, everybody! As promised, though a little bit late, I took some pictures of my Veterans - this is the status quo! http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0062.jpg Those are only four - the fifth is currently in the priming box! There's five JP though http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0063.jpg Stormshields! Not too happy with the right one, but I didn't have any wings like that on the left shield over, so... http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0065.jpg Claw with some GS to cover up some Space Wolves script. http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0064.jpg Probably the most worthless pic ever - primed heads http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0069.jpg Here's the sarge - I'm going to re-work the sword, though. I'm aiming for a similar effect presented by winterdyne(which means I'm ;) ). http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0068.jpg Those two were actually part of my last attempt of a veteran squad - I thought the progress made on them was too much of effort to prime them again. Still, they are less that 50% finished, so it should be fine with the rules of the LPC, right? http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0067.jpg My favourite marine, but with a bigger stick! Hammer Time 2.0!! http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0066.jpg Well, here's my first LPC update for the Veterans. I apologise for the rather crappy light, but...it is a WIP update, where the actual shade of red can be disregarded. ;) Comments&Criticism are appreciated. ;) Snorri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190550-snorris-2nd-company-we-are-bloodied-yet-unbowed/page/8/#findComment-3009916 Share on other sites

SnorriSnorrison
Better get motoring mate not long to go now! Is that sergeant the the special blood angel vanguard vet one? Oh and I do like the extra long thunder hammer Yep, tight schedule! I think the next wip update will hopefully see them completely painted! Yep, it's the metal one. It's a shame, he is a bit bigger than the average marine, which is cool because it makes him stand out, but maybe it's a bit too much. The extra long hammer is from the Grey Knight sprue, I cut off the swords and inquisition symbols and glued on some blood drops. Great hammer! Midnightmare
I'm impressed with how your libby came out Snorri, very characterful :) and I'm sure you will do the Vets justice, they are taking shape already. SnorriSnorrison
VOW COMPLETE! Although I'm not too happy about the Veterans. They are far beyond my current standard and I'm really thinking about buying their boxed resin equivalents for replacement, same weapons, better models. I'm quite happy with the sarge, though. I apologise for the pictures, these merely testify the completeness of my vow. http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/IMAG0071.jpg http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/IMAG0072.jpg http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/IMAG0073.jpg And the Libby once again since this will be linked in the main thread: http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/Bild0070.jpg I vowed the Vets and the Libby, and here they are, more or less. Hehe, yeah, or let's say what should have been left! To the annoyance of my opponent... You want more? Alright, I got some left. WIP Astorath, part of my ETL Vow from...well, it feels like from the last century. The status quo so far, I do have the intention to paint him before the next batch of miniatures arrives. http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/IMAG0168.jpg http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/IMAG0169.jpg http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/IMAG0170.jpg http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/Finished%20works/IMAG0167.jpg The jumppack with extra wings. I tried to imitate the artwork from the codex and cut the wings in halfs, re-positioned them to face a little bit more downwards and changed the angle at the connection on the jumppack. Please, let me know what you think, it's not to late for me to change it. Many eyes see more than two. :) So, there you go guys! Massive update from me, the second of the year(which is pretty lousy!)! I'll hope to have the next update with Astorath finished. I also vowed to paint 5 DC members, but I wasn't too eager painting them because they were the old metal ones. I like them and all, but they look very bland in comparison with the 'new' DC kit, so I ordered me another assault squad and a DC box. A littlle teaser, they will all be magnetised! Comments and criticism are all welcome! :) Snorri Edit: Added the actual JP with wings.... Sokhar
Wow. Spectacular models, bud. The powered effect on the sergeant's sword looks really amazing. All the models are beautiful, you have some really great dynamic posing on each of them. Love the little flourishes, particularly the guy who discarded his busted helmet. I'm not usually a fan of the yellow helmets on Assault Marines, and decided to stick with red for mine, but your's look really nice. Always makes it easier to see the blood spray splashed across the helmet. I don't really have any criticism to contribute, those are some models I'm very jealous of. Also, love the repositioning on Astorath, definitely badass. It was my first attempt on painting powerweapons in such a way, I'm glad you like it. :( I used the Paladin's Nemesis weapon as a pattern for my own powerweapons, I'm very satisfied with the outcome. You're right about the yellow, it's quite hard to paint. I used Iyanden Darksun over a black primer, then added skull white and layered it on. After that, I painted 4-5 thin coats of Vallejo Sun Yellow, sheded with Gryphonne Sepia, restored the Sun Yellow again and started to highlight with Skull White. It's quite time-consuming, indeed. :) Snorri PS: Added Astorath's actual JP - now with 100% more wings! SnorriSnorrison
I love the smell of miniatures in the morning - and Apocalypse Now references. http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/IMAG0171.jpg Pushing this one real quick, my order arrived, which I had expected to arrive on monday. I'm mildly suprised yet glad that it arrived today, means my new project of a proper DC begins now! 10 DC, with magnetised JP/backpacks, special weapons and probably bolters(not sure on this one). Magnets for the win! :D This also means that I can follow my own advice given in the DC Analysis and swap weapons to counter different situations. ;) Snorri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190550-snorris-2nd-company-we-are-bloodied-yet-unbowed/page/8/#findComment-3256231 Share on other sites

SnorriSnorrison
Get to it mister! Will do, sir! I've already started building the DC. With thursday off, I think I can make quite some progress. The magnets are the thing that takes most of the time, holes need to be drilled, and the swappable weapon arms need to look good either way, be it normal chainswords or with powerweapons. ;) Second post, what happened to your Mephiston? Well, over the years, my GS-fu has improved a little bit, so he's not on my current standard right now. I've added the head and his arms, however I've considered re-sculpting his torso because it looks quite grainy. I used him in a game recently and needed to glue him together, but apart from that, he's very WIP. Thanks for the interest! :) Snorri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190550-snorris-2nd-company-we-are-bloodied-yet-unbowed/page/8/#findComment-3259587 Share on other sites

SnorriSnorrison
Snorri I love those power weapons, would you mind sharing how you did them??? Fantastic work all round, I look forward to seeing more and wish my efforts could match yours! Thank you very much, mate! I'm glad you like the effect on the power weapons, I'm very pleased with them as well. :) It was my first attempt on this effect, so please forgive me the lack of a proper 'recipe'. ^_^ At first, take a look at the second image of the GK terminators - the halberds are of interest here. That's the scheme I wanted to imitate, mainly because it looks quite awesome. Then, I took my paints: ---> on a black foundation: 1. I applied Ice Blue in 3 thinned layers until I got an even coverage. 2. Apply very thin layers of black and white according to the scheme on the GK's powerweapons, this is only a rough step so you know where you're going from here. 3. Blend. It's a lot of work to blend the colours, so be patient here. Try it over and over again until you're satisfied, I used thin glazes of black and white(Chaos Black/Skull White) in about 6-10 layers of very thin paint. Use water, but make sure that your mix doesn't pool on the sword. 4. With the majority work being done, highlight the blade's edges with pure skull white. Include some 'scratches' on the blade as well, according to the pictures of the GK termies. 5. Now, to get the colour in there, I used about 5 glazes of Asurmen Blue - basically you thin down your wash and paint it on. After that, I highlighted the egdes again with Skull White. 6. Also, paint some Skull White around the power cables after you're done with the glazes, just to have a point where the power comes from. I hope that helps, mate! ;) Snorri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190550-snorris-2nd-company-we-are-bloodied-yet-unbowed/page/8/#findComment-3260739 Share on other sites
