Very nice Snorri, nice to see an update. As said lovely job with the power weapons and a nice bit of gore - you knowz I likez the gorez! Win B)

Thanks Midnight! :)

I'll sit down today and tomorrow to get some progress on the DC, hopefully with the first pics of the magnetised models - I'm halfway through...All that is left to do are the back- and jumppacks. Still, that's 30 magnets left to build in. :)

More to come!

Hi guys, a short WIP update here! That's what I've managed to do until now. It's not much, but work and sickness have kept me in their cold and ruthless grasps, so actual hobby time was falling short. :)

So, here's the magnets that have been build in so far! Starting with the Fist and Bolter marine:

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0181_zps5ccd1c59.jpg

Good thing about these magnets, however they may work, is that I can now swap weapons. Hopefully GW won't change the wargear to rending back again... :)

Here's the hammer!

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0182_zpsf23b7dc4.jpg

Poweraxe! I was running out of poses a bit, so he got a rather calm one. I hope the double-blade makes up for that.

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0179_zpsf0bda2cc.jpg

One of the swords. This one and the other will get their potion of green stuff in the next session. ;)

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0178_zps3a2bb8fa.jpg

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0177_zpsbea10178.jpg

Again, running out of poses... :tu:

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0174_zpsdde7cbb3.jpg

Here's the whole lot - you might have noticed that through the power of magnets, I've swapped the weapons.

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0183_zps7ef12065.jpg

And that was done in the last, very short I admit, building session. I hope it shows on the pic, if not, I drilled out the backs to fit some 3mm magnets in there - the others I'll glue into the back- and jumppacks once I find myself in a condition fit for working on that again. ;)

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/IMAG0184_zpsa2bf1d14.jpg

Thanks for watching! I hope you all will forgive me the rather poor focusing on the pics, they were done in a rush, so to say.

Input is welcome as always. :)

Excellent poses Snorri, magnets ftw!! I have lost count the number of times I have superglued a magnet to my finger ;) Top tip, if you drill the hole bigger than required, greenstuff hold the magnet in perfectly and you can ensure correct orientation easier (I always mean to paint one side or the other but always forget :P )

Thanks man, I'm glad you like 'em! :) My fingertips actually don't exist anymore, just several layers of dried superglue where once was flesh. :)

Nice tip with the greenstuff, thanks for that! I'll have to stuff the holes where I drilled out too much, some need quite a big amount. The problem I'm facing now is that with at least two magnets in the torso, they start orientating towards each other, so I now got to be careful where and how I place the backpacks and weapons...quite a time-consuming task. Keeps me from getting the paint on. ;)

Snorri, your work is outstanding!

My addition for tips, I use sharpie to mark my magnets polarity and position them using plastic tweezers and tooth picks.

Keep inspiring folks!

Hi there! Thanks at first, I am glad you like my work! :)

Yes, I did that a while ago with red paint(easier to find when you're at the paintstation :) ), and I honestly don't know why I stopped doing it. Going to come in handy for the last magnets in the back- and jumppacks!

And thanks, I'll try my best. :)

For magnet tips, mark one end of all of them with a sharpie ;)

As for the application: I keep the stack oriented the same way, flat on the table in a roll, then drill the hole, and apply glue.

I then take a craft knife, and 'slice' a magnet from one end of the roll and stick it in the torso, ensuring the flat of the blade is flat against the torso. This ensures a perfect fit.

I then slice a magnet from the opposite end of the roll, and do the same with the arm.

Hope that might be useful!

Great looking poses, also.

I take the stack of magnets, shove it into the torso, then while its protruding I glue the arm onto the other side of the magnet rod.

Some how... I still get magnets in backwards...

I lol'ed :) so familair...

Magnets are a pain in the ass....almost think theyre troll until a realise theyre not sentient...

are they?

Anymore progress on these guys Snorri? ;)

Happy New Year all! You know what time it is? It's update time!

Well, a smaller update, but an update nontheless. The DC are, except for some places where I need to use GS once again, ready for priming. This fact alone makes me very happy because I have once again realised how awesome the bits from the DC box are and I'm quite excited for painting them! Also, building these bastids has taken really long enough...:P

Thanks for the tips on the magnets, they're now finally glued into the holes I made for them in the previous sessions. Only the JPs left to go...

Anymore progress on these guys Snorri? :)

As it happens, there is progress on these guys, Dem! Here we go with the special weapons. I might get you a better picture of them, because you can't really see the axeman.

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/IMAG0188_zps7efda08f.jpg

You can see some Green Stuff here and there, on the aquilas and on the arms. After my, I think I can say that, recent success with the Assault Marines, I went a step further and 'created' some new designs for DC torsos. One marine has the saltire instead of the skull and the other is rocking the standard blood drop that, in combination with the aquila, creates the Blood Angels' chapter symbol.

Now, here's the 'choppy' guys. I found this name quite fitting because of their poses, which are a bit more agressive. And you know I like my DC agressive. ^_^

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/IMAG0189_zpsff5f8b89.jpg

Oh, quick question: I'm leaning towards giving the guy in the back left corner some GS hair. Simply judging from the head(it's the Assault Squad Sergeant's), what would you guys do? I'm not quite certain whether hair on this type of head will look good or not. Does anyone got precedence on this one? :)

And, because I'm very pleased with these guys, here's some close-ups.

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/IMAG0190_zps04ac86b6.jpg

His torso is from the Grey Knight sprue and was intended as a torso for my veterans. The swords and books on it were quite difficult to remove however, and left the surface of the plastic scratched and stuff, so I left it out. It makes me kinda proud how well(for me!) it came out after two sessions of GS-ing, so here's the closeup for one DC torso design. :)

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/IMAG0191_zps8819c310.jpg

Here's the second one. He's gotta nice little head of a deamonette(again, the GK sprue...) as well as some self-made torso design. To be honest, I simply hadn't any MKVII torsos left, and the ones with the cables on front I find ugly.

So, another quick pop at GS-ing some symbols on there! I'm quite satisfied with this one as well, but on the picture some of the GS looks a bit sloppy... <_<

Ah well. So, that's it folks! First update in the new year, the next will see some paint on them!

You dont say? Well OK! Daemons go back to the warp when you kill them, so that would include their decapitated heads

Some other thing that bugs me... Death company have their armour painted. So if they have crosses that arent painted on (like the death company marine sculpts) they would have either had to adjust their armour (which by the fluff they dont do) or have had their armour like that when they were tactical/assault marines :D

Sorry couldnt resists ;) petty small personal gripes aside they look good :)

Of the choppy guys the one on the right isent visible mr. "eat my chainsword!" is in the way  (you know, the one with the 2 teardrops on his chest) And like you said id like a better picture of the axeman :)

Other then that they look good. Slap some paint on them!

Alright, last round at the photobar! These guys are joining their backpacks in the prime-station(a shoebox...). The next real update will show their armour done!

Now, let's get this sorted out!

You dont say? Well OK! Daemons go back to the warp when you kill them, so that would include their decapitated heads ;)

Yeah, thought of that while glueing it on, however I'll pretending that the marine was 'caught' in the middle of decapitating the deamonette so the rest of it's earthly form hasn't realised that it's dead. ;)

Some other thing that bugs me... Death company have their armour painted. So if they have crosses that arent painted on (like the death company marine sculpts) they would have either had to adjust their armour (which by the fluff they dont do) or have had their armour like that when they were tactical/assault marines

I see what you mean. The DC is formed on the eve before battle, so maybe the Chaplains stuck them in suits specifically modified for the Death Company? Suits that are restored after every battle where the DC fought, and handed to the next member of the Lost?

If not for anything else, let's say that I don't want to let these awesome shoulderpads and torsos go to waste in an assault or tactical squad which, as you pointed out, will look a bit out of place with all the DC symbols. ;)

Other then that they look good. Slap some paint on them!

Thanks! Will do, brother, will do. They're next in line for priming. ;)

I wasent critisizing you for using the DC bits, sorry if it came across as that. just ranting that fluffwise the "special" DC bits make no sense as their suits are supposed to be their old suits repainted in black with red crosses ;)

The posses look good :) simple yet effective!

No offense taken, mate! I agree with you on that point, however then all the DC models in the past would have been superfluous as well. Makes no sense, you're right, but it's a nice modelling opportunity anyway. :)

Thanks, glad you like them! I've highlighted my way through the lot, the final highlight is still on today's agenda, gotta get to the store next week to grab some black wash as the black GW is selling is more of a murky grey. dry.png Bastids...I want my Chaos Black, not some dark grey! Preposterous, I say! furious.gif

Anyway...gotta get some pics up when they're done! :)

Hi guys, update on the DC!

I'm done with the black/grey highlights, and put on some red!

Here we go!

After 2-3 layers of red, I put on some thinned down Agrax Earthshade to tone down the red and bring it in line with the quite dark black.

Thanks for your attention, guys! smile.png

Aaaalright brothers, just a small update there! I've got myself a new camera with and better lights, so these pictures should be far better than those above. Please tell me how you like 'em! smile.png

Here's some progress on my DC squad, fresh from the table!

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/DSCN0748_zpsc9ccbd6f.jpg

I really like the way they turned out, especially the white stuff.

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/DSCN0747_zpsea0e6076.jpg

Most time-consuming stuff are going to be blooddrop-gems and other jewels...not counting powerweapons.

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/DSCN0746_zps3366c2ba.jpg

As you can see, the gold is done, as are the other metal parts. I still need to get some blood and gore on these guys so they don't look so damn clean!

As I said, a short update, but there you go guys. I'll try and finish as much of these over the week and upload them, but after that week I won't be painting/posting for 4 months, since I'll be in Australia during that time!

Income is welcome as always. smile.png

Thanks, Taranis. Nah, I couldn't be temped even if I wanted to paint(which I will)! I'll try to work my way through the powerweapons and the gems today...which is time-consuming, but it has to be done! Oh well...ermm.gif

It's not a vacation entirely, just some work and travel through the country...and having a good time, obviously! :)

This is going to be the hugest post I've ever made, in regards of pictures, so prepare yourself! You have been warned!

As it seems, I won't be able to finish the DC until my departure, so here's a shot of my assembled 2nd Company Blood Angels - the whole lot. There's some old paintjobs in there(some of the first marines I've ever painted) and from the distance of 10 metres, they don't look too shabby! teehee.gif

It doesn't look like a lot of miniatures...but then, I'm a slow painter. msn-wink.gif

Also, my Whirlwind. Usually a bit off of the action, because I forgot how where I left it a year ago(duh!), back again to show off some free-hands! This would be the first time me free-handing this kind of chapter symbol on a model.

Also, some overly zealous scrolls that should probably bless its missiles...yeah.

Well, that's my army so far guys. I hope you enjoyed this little journey through the ranks of my incarnation of the Second Company! smile.png

You may have noticed that a good part of the force is not up-to-date regarding the paintjob. Being a perfectionistic bastid I'll make sure that these squads will have a good bath in some Sterillium to get their armour polished and painted to new glory! They deserve better than this.

So, thanks for your attention, everybody.

Good work Brother :tu: It's nice to see the whole force together :) Reminds me that I need to do that some time.

Still really living your more recent kit bashes like the Libby and Furioso w/ chaos marine.

Keep up the good work my friend :)

@nurglespuss: Thanks mate, I'm glad you like the DC! Love your miniatures, man, really good painting there!

Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish the dead men walking in time, the next days will be quite busy with other stuff. :(

@marine7312000: Well, thanks man! A lot of stuff isn't looking too great, due to its age and all that. I'm going to change that when I get the time! More pictures for the forums.

@CTK: Thanks brother! Yeah, it was about time for an army shot, and I figured since I can't really paint in the near future the time is right now! May I add that I'd really love to see your full army in its whole glory? Because it's awesome! ;)

Yeah, the kitbashes came out pretty well, thanks! :) I'm excited for any new plastic sm bits that GW may shell out, and I've secured me some DAngels-lightning claws as well as a cloak from the new Deathwing box. Lots of conversions lay ahead!

Thanks again everybody!
