Demoulius
I've put together my first box of DC this morning and I'm leftwith reather mixed feeling/ The sculpting is very nice and there is lots and lots of details. A bit to much for a Flesh Tearer force so I've filed and clipped a few bits here and there. One problem I've found is that because GW have included so many weapon options if you just want the basic bolt pistol and CCW load out you're left with only a few arms to choose from. Also some of the angles that the CCW armsare at are rather intersting. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194196-the-fury-of-our-father/page/2/#findComment-2338403 Share on other sites
Fracture
I know Demo, heretical isn't it. The chain axes are all pinned to keep them strong. Without a pin they'd fall off in small gusts of wind. SamaNagol
Even with pinning, there will still be a lot of stress exerted through the joints so you will probably see your fair share of breaks over the years. I've drilled and pinned my entire force. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194196-the-fury-of-our-father/page/2/#findComment-2339074 Share on other sites
Whitefireinferno
Im glad I will be using some Beserker arms, In 3 years of carting KBs around the worse I had were arms comming off(and spiky bits snapping off the rhino's) in transit and I use to cruse on a hardtail Triumph and the roads in NZ are crap at best. Fracture
Don't worry, I know a danger join when I see it. I'm sure as long as I pack them away with some thought they'll be just fine. I've knocked up a quick 2000pt list. Its not got everything I want in there and I've had to really hold back on some things. This is mainly a fluff driven list. HQ Captain Thadius Vore- Counts as Astorath. ( Using him mainly for the rage buff he gives the army and the fact he has a jump pack. He'll join the unit of SG) ELITES. Chaplain Rienhardt Karg- Bare bone chappy. goes with the DC shockingly 5 Sanguinery guard 1 with power fist. 2 Sanguinery priests. 1 in foot with powe weapon, 1 with jump pack and power weapon. TROOPS 9 Assault marines. Power fist, 2x plasma pistol in a drop pod. will be joined by the SP on foot. 5 Tactical marines with power fist (will be used purely to hold a objective close to my table edge) 9 Death company. 2 power weapons and 1 power fist. Munted in a Land Raider Redeemer with a multi melta. 9 Assault marines with a power fist. Death company Dread in a drop pod. 2 attack bikes with multi meltas. I've still got 30 pts to play with but this is kinds the army I'm thinking of. What do you guys think? Fluffy enugh without being rubbish? Vel'Cona
Off the top of my head, this is an average list. It has some support related issues, and a distinct lack of Baal Preds, but I won't go into details outside of the Tactica Astartes threads. From a background perspective, it's pretty solid, though I find it sad that a FT guy isn't using Seth. He's so cool! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194196-the-fury-of-our-father/page/2/#findComment-2340150 Share on other sites
Demoulius
9 Assault marines. Power fist, 2x plasma pistol in a drop pod. will be joined by the SP on foot. you can only take 2 weapons for every 5 marines in your unit brother, so sadly one 1 plasma pistol is allowed :P nice list though, if somewhat light on anti-tank, powerfists are good against the more normal vehicles but against raiders and the like youll be in trouble. Haunter!
I would like to see how you're thinking of un-blinging your SG. (Please tell me you're sanding off the bat nipples) Loving the chain axes and the Chaplain (is that a power claw?), btw. Very Teary. All Blood Angels successor chapters maintain Sanguinary Guard in the same colors as the Blood Angels, exception being the Angels Encarmine, who paint their Death Company and SangGuard white. Oh, and Fracture! The Flesh Tearers have a High Chaplain by the name of Carnarvon (Astaroth in the BA's. Just throwing that out there. Fracture
Cheers for the comments guys. The SG are going to be difficult to fit in but I think I can make them look part of the army. I'm planning on painting them in FT colours including chipped paint work etc and with shouty/scarey heads rather than the calm emotionless death masks they come with. The way I think of it the flesh tearers would put their best fighters in the best gear, so for them it's going to be their best and most brutal warriors that become SG rather than the most noble. Astaroth is being used to represent one of the company captains which as far as I know are unnamed. I think his rage on a 1-3 represents a FT army better than any of the other characters. Captain Kael
Of course. White undercoat. 2-3 Layers of scab red. However many for a smooth layer. Baal red and Ogryn flesh wash. High light by adding blood red to scab red. The highlights will have to be pretty harsh as the 2nd wash drags it back down. Mine haven't really shown up to well. Something to remember for the next unit. 2nd wash of Baal red and Ogryn flesh. Great models man. You have inspired me to paint my own flesh tearers. When you mention the baal red and ogryn flesh wash, do you mean a 1:1 mix of the two or first a baal red wash then an ogryn flesh wash? Cheers Captain Kael ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194196-the-fury-of-our-father/page/2/#findComment-2343581 Share on other sites
Fracture
Glad it's got you thinking about doing flesh tearers. It's about 3 parts Baal red to 2 part ogryn flesh. As it's 2 washes of this in total I do water it down a fair bit. Midnightmare
Maybe do the SG in a really dark gold/bronze with lots of Damage/weathering? Just an idea ;) Nice DC, the more I see them the more I want to re-do my DC lol......must resist the thirst....... Fracture
Next 5 DC are put together and ready for undercoating. Here they are so far. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture069-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture070-1.jpg Here's some pics of my WIP Sang guard. I've yet to add dents and cuts etc in the armour but thought I'd show the direction I'm kinda thinking of taking them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture071-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture072-1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194196-the-fury-of-our-father/page/2/#findComment-2346813 Share on other sites

-Q-
My concept for the Guard is to paint them in a striated muscle pattern like Mephiston. Suitably gruesome while utilizing the cool new official models. They should look good with just rough horizontal brush sweeps across the muscle sections. They should look good like this in either red, gold, bronze, however you want to go. Whitefireinferno
I too will be buying some SG for my FT mainly for the torso's for Seths HG they will not be getting their jumppacks and the nipples will be gone BUT Im still in need of a command squad box for the other parts :( But I also hav a Idea they will have.... POWER CHAIN SWORDS since Chainswords are brutal so all it will need are the power cables up the sides a cable going to the Backpack and a Glow effect on the chain <_<. Keep up the good work Brother and I hope they inspire FEAR into the hearts of Greenskins Just like our days of Armageddon. SnorriSnorrison
Really nice standard on your DC, lovely painting. I like your subtle highlights on the black PA, very well done! :teehee: I´d like to see more of your Sangguard, especially in FT colours. Snorri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194196-the-fury-of-our-father/page/2/#findComment-2347744 Share on other sites
Fracture
Bloody hell. I'm off for a bit and I end up on page 13 hehe. Not been up to much lately due to work, holiday and bit of a cold. Not done any painting but my dread arrived this week so his got put together. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture073.jpg Better shot of what will count as Blood talons. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture074.jpg Also got my hands on Astorath who will count as Captain Thadius Vore in my army. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture075.jpg Buzz saw on a spine. As subtle as a snooker ball in a sock but I think its suitably to the point and lets face it, its going to make a mess. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Damned_man/Flesh%20Tearers/Picture076.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194196-the-fury-of-our-father/page/2/#findComment-2363219 Share on other sites

Vel'Cona
Wow. I really like the Astorath conversion you've chosen, and the headswaps on the SG are excellent choices. They look like your elite dudes, but not the shiny kind we've become accustomed to. The blades on the Dread win as well. I primarily like that you seem to have a solid grasp of what FT should look like and the character of the chapter, which I very find very agreeable. It's too bad I'm so devoted to the founding chapter, as I really enjoy the character and design of the FT. Heck, that's probably the only thing I agree with from the Deus series. Fracture
Last 5 DC are now done. Rather than paint their land raider I'm going to do the Sang Guard first.
