The fury of our Father

Fracture

Recommended Posts

Just a small quick update. Got a game against Eldar tonight so thought I might try running a libby to stop their dirty tricksy magics. I've recently moved house and I needed to cut down on the amount of space my models took up. During this purge I came across this fellow.

Now this brave soul used to fight as part of my blood angels back in 3rd ed. As you can see 8 odd years in my bits box as left him in less than great condition. But he is one of my choice libby models so felt he should have a 2nd chance as part of my flesh tearers. Unfortunatly I'm rather lacking in sacred oils to help purify him and cleanse him for a new paint job. But I do have the next best thing.

Right, I'm off for a kip after finishing a night shift. I'll update you on him later.

Got The big man himself finished today. I have to say I really did enjoy painting him.

I changed the backpack on Seth as I wasn't really a fan of the cloak. Also I think he has some of the best sculpted armour put there so thought it was a shame to cover half of it up.

I changed the face a bit as I felt that he look like the marine version of George Doors, So wit the help of a hot knife and some green stuff I added some cuts, scars and a metal plate on his head.

The paint stripping on the libby went well. Unfortunatly my opponent didn't show so no game for him. Here he is all fresh from the vat.

One thing that really struck me when I put him together is how much the scale has changed on marines since 2nd ed. I mean look at the comparison between him and Seth.

Not sure if I still want to use him or look at converting one of the new ones. What do you guys think?

How does he look next to your run of the mill marines? If you looks ok as long as he is not next to the big man I say go for it and give him a second chance to smite for the emperor.

Question though, when you can would you post up pics of one of your dedicated transports. I play Flesh Tearers and since building and painting, I have not made up my mind on a suitable paint job for a rhino or razorback. Just wanting your perspective and see if it can't ignite my own imagination.

Again love what you've been able to do so far. One other question, the kitbashed Sanguinary Priest with the Death Mask, what painting technique did you use on the Death Mask? The highlight and clean metal look is top notch.

Thanks for the comments guys. Keep 'em coming, it really does help keep my brush working.

@Biglou666- Glad you like him. I'll post up a set of bits and a little how to in the next few days, Hopefully I'll take a pic of the armyso far on Thursday.

@Arcticcadian- Glad you like the kitbashing. I cant greenstuff at all really other thanreally basic stuff, so I mainly convert via different kits. I've only got 2 drop pods finished for my army. The rhino is only half done and the paint job is really basic. Have a looks at ARNE's tanks here, I love the buzz saw paintjob on them. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...t=0&start=0

As for my update I've decided to add a Baal to my army. I don't find SM tanks to be the easiest to paint but I'm still rather happy with how this has come out. There will be some FT symbols added once I get a new printer and some Decal paper, I cant free hand for toffee.

As always I'm looking for comments to keep my motivation up, so please post what you think.

Hey guys. As requested some army pics taken at my gaming club. Unfortunatly the light was piss poor and I was a bit rushed so they turned out badly. Hope they still give you an idea of how the army is going so far. Clicking on the pic makes it slightly better.

I'll be finishing the Libby soon so will post him up and I'll be giving my friend Paul Gayner a game next week against his Nids. Expect a battle report.

I have to admit I've been admiring your work for a while now, though as a BT I might be scorned for doing so  . If it were even remotely cheap to acquire all the necessary sawblade bits I might very well follow in your foot steps, especially after reading "At Gaius Point" in the Legends of the Space Marines novel.

Even with an adapted color scheme the Sanguinary guard just seem out of place among Flesh Tearers for some reason : beautiful, delicately sculpted armor of the highest caliber against a backdrop of crude, nasty, grittiness that screams of bloodlust. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I saw them in the same group as the rest of the army though

Keep up the good work!

Quick Edit: Get some decals on that poor tank for crying out loud. It looks just plain naked! :o

Your chaplain has a murse...

Keep up the good work :(

I believe its supposed to be a Book of Liturgies. Most chaplain models have one in one form or another.

*****

I enjoyed the conversions and the fine painting skills.

However, I would have liked a darker red as the Flesh Tearers are shown as having.

Loved the buzzsaws

I say this with all due respect, as a form of constructive criticism which hopefully wouldn't anger you.....

But that kind of looks like a very big pizza cutter.

Clearly when the charges he should not say "Your ass is grass, and im a mower!" he should scream, "Your ass is pizza, and im the cutter!". I think a new epic battle scream is born here today. :)

Hail, Good day and a general hello there.

I made the fatal mistake of selling my space marine armies/ all of my 40k stuff as i saw no future for me and the dice rolling.

However... i randomly bought some marines the other day and through a nagging craving for a flesh tearers army because of an article i read in WD back in the late 90s and your kick ass conversions that are similar (much better) to my old troops im going to carve up the battle field once again. As a flesh tearer.

However...I want to know what shade of red are you using, looks blood red. I think im going scab red or some where in between.

game on.

Hahaha, cheers for the extra comments gent, and I really can see what you mean by it looking like a pizza cutter.

@Toothless_saw. My red starts off with Scab red over a white undercoat, Baal red and ogryn flesh wash. Highlight the edges by adding blood red to the scab red and end with another wash of baal red and ogryn flesh.
