And the whole gang:

Painting these guys was a PAIN ;) I had to keep them in multiple pieces through the whole process so i could get every nook and cranny. The variety of details on the bike models, while pretty, require a painful amount of fine detail attention. All the bits and pieces i threw on (still not sure if the HOoA hood ornament was a good idea) didnt help speed things up either. The real kicker is i still need to buy, model, and paint a pair of Attack Bikes to ride with these fellas

C&C welcome as always!

Oh man, I'm going to have to revisit this thread when it is time to paint my bikes. The white trim looks way better than the silver I was planning to use. And the white script is just plain awesome. Well done Brother. Excellent work. :)

++edit++

I just noticed you covered up the lights with the terminator...ahh... shieldy type things

Sweeeet.

Thank you guys for the kind words. As I've said, painting and modeling is my main reason for this hobby (hence the choice of Bikes, as you guys so astutely pointed out :P ). That mixed with my naturally narcissistic disposition means i pretty much take the compliments as sustenance. In short, I feed off your admiration, and would be flattered if anyone used my own work to inspire theirs.

I dont have long until Im departing for a year long hiatus, so these may be the last you see from my workbench for some time. Still, I'll try and get my WIP chaplain and a few more infantry up before shelving my brushes.

Thanks again for all the support through the beginnings of this To Be Continued Crusade, brothers :( .

Getting deployed? :(

HA! No, no no no. Granted I have a great respect for our armed forces (my dad is a retired Col.), but I am most definitely not military material. I'm going on a year long study abroad program for a Masters in International Relations to Vienna, Bangkok, London, Leiden, and Geneva. Good times, but not much room for hobbies. I'll still be prowling the forums for some good laughs (and ideas to steal when i get back), though ;) .

Good for you!

As the others have said, some Firepower-esque models will be appearing in my Crusade.

I had just started on the Bikes, which had been sitting around for an age due to lack on TT ability, and was thinking what to do with these things....

Voila!

The lances, where are they from? Bretonnian Knights?

One of the big reasons for me choosing BT was that they have the best kit-bash range available of all marines - this keeps me smiling and knowing I have made the best choice :HQ:

**My late response to you Firepower was because my internet plan is small. I don't often look at other peoples stuff willy-nilly, and it was only because this had reached a certain size of responses that I bothered looking ;)

First of all, "Firepower-esque"? Firepowered sounds so much....smoother ;). That being said, I would highly recommend using what little bandwidth you might have to spare checking out the links I've peppered throughout this thread. Brother Titan in particular has a very similar style, and he does some things better than me I have to admit. In particular, i was a bit irked when I realized how much better brown instead of black icons/text looks on the off-white shoulders.

Moving on, very well put. The BT do indeed have a range of other models to steal from. I used a lot of Khorne Berzerker bodies and legs, for instance (chains galore!). I've wanted to play with DA veteran robes too, but there's only so much money I can throw at this hobby.

The lances are indeed Bretonnian. They were cut where the wrist meets the elbow, and glued onto SM upper arms (and one Berzerker arm, whatever). It only takes a tiny bit of GS to fill the gap and it looks fine. One thing to take into consideration though is how the flag on the lance lines up with the bike: try and keep it so that the angle fits forward momentum, instead of shooting off at some weird angle. There is one more variation of lance I could've used, but there is a shield icon right where I would've made the cut which would have been a pain to properly fix, and i felt there deserved to be at least one shiny sword in the lot  .

There are also those tiny shields Bretonnian knights get which i wanted to play with, but never got around to buying off a bits site to try out. I imagine they'd be easily adapted to BT shoulder pads with a bit of chain/rope wrapped around them. Next time, I guess.

Glad to see I became popular enough to be worth your limited i-net, Brother  . Take what you need and have fun with it!

Well, it's just about time for me to shelve my brushes for a year or so. On that thought, I figured I'd crank out one last bit of eye candy. This Chaplain has been sitting on my shelf for longer than I care to recall, primed and waiting for love. So, without further adieu, my masterpiece, Master of Sanctity Jasper!

I know it's a lot of pics for just one model, but the amount of detail and nooks n' crannies on this model are worth it IMHO.

The model itself is pure awesome. As far as I've seen thus far, it's the closest PA Marine to true scale that GW makes. He's obviously a bit taller than usual on account of the rock, but he's a bulky lil bugger too. He utterly dwarfs the Emperor's Champion model! Maybe when i come back to the hobby I'll do his Jump Pack too :HQ: .

Thanks for the kind words all. I'm off to Europe tomorrow for school, so no last minute additions Im afraid. I wont be picking up a brush til Christmas break at the earliest. It's tempting though, I just traded for an old Apoc triple pack of Vindicators and they're sitting in my drawer, assembled and woefully gray :P .

Beautifully painted, nice and crisp, your freehand is of a very high standard. Love the bike lances, a very nice touch.

However...

I see aquilas on chests. That's almost worse than mould lines on a Black Templar ;)

No aquilas here, Payce. The aquila is the two headed eagle, and that chest piece doesn't make an appearance on any one of my models  . There are some wings, sure, but no aquilas.

Besides, that isn't even technically official fluff, just a quote that many of us have clung to after Helsreach :P . A fun quote, granted, but not an official one.

The Space Marine Battles novels are actually considered canonical, depicting legendary battles the same way the Horus Heresy books depicts the Heresy.

Wow, purely awesome. I really like your crusaders. They look very knightly and simply impressive. Have to admit, you had a lot of great ideas (I especially licked the biker marine with the lance). Great painting!

You did what to my biker marine :) ? Hehe just teasing. Thank you for the praise brother, but for future reference, this sort of thing is generally regarded as "Threadomancy": meaning a topic which has long since been laid to rest was suddenly resurrected. It's fine, you're new here and no harm done, but in the future if you see the last post date on a thread was more than say, 3 weeks ago, it's probably best just to PM the person instead of bumping a dead thread.

In fact, if it wasn't already bumped I would've just PM'd you this message :) . Oh well, good to see my boys in black at the front of the line again at any rate!

Threadromancy? NAY! RESURRECTION!

In my brief Holiday vacation from my schoolwork, I've cranked out these little beauties after feverish assembly line work. First up, 4 more Crusaders for the front:

http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/zz201/Wills40k/Black%20Templars/IMG_2665.jpg

And just so I can show off a bit of detail that doesn't show from the sides:

http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/zz201/Wills40k/Black%20Templars/IMG_2667.jpg

And next, time to show why I'm called "FIREPOWER!"

First, Venerable Vindicator Gestalt

Note the homage signature of the book on this next one:

http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/zz201/Wills40k/Black%20Templars/IMG_2707.jpg

Lookin good firepower, glad to see you finally got some time to paint!

I really like your initiates man, I sorta wished I had gone for the bone coloured shoulders they give the marines a more gothic look.

Either way good to see some of your work for once!

All looking very cool, liking the chaplin. Really like the checks on the vindi and was also in two mind about using the lances on my bikers, decided not to. Have to say though, looks good. Edited by Eberious
