Skirax
Great idea and really well pulled off, truly amazing! When I saw the title of this thread, I wondered how you'd make a bust of a sarcophagus... now I see and I can't help but be struck by the awesomeness! Philip S
again, tanx for the great site. Your welcome :cuss @ Starks333 - it's not perfect as it had to fit inside the official armour diagram. I think of him as an upscaled, stocky, rugby player with a head the same size as a human (and it fits inside the marine helm). Stocky rugby players can be quite swift. Also; with a modified skeleton he's not muscle bound, and still has plenty of range of motion so he should be able to move about OK. Anyway, this is off topic - if you want to carry on this conversation send me a PM or leave a comment on my blog. Back to ManticoreLegion amazing work! ManticoreLegion
Julius is getting held in place while servitors works on him in order to reinstall him in the casing. If i were dead and put in a living reaping machine, I dont think im the one chosing where my dead arm goes lol. definition of bust: A bust is a sculpted or cast representation of the upper part of the human figure, depicting a person's head and neck, as well as a variable portion of the chest and shoulders. The piece is normally supported by a plinth. These forms recreate the likeness of an individual. These may be of any suitable material (such as marble, bronze or clay). This is how I work, classic. But dont worry, a bit atypical busts coming your way soon. ManticoreLegion
Quick update... Bare with me a second. I just realised that my photograhy skills are passable at best but this is not the final bust. 14 plugs to go in front and a lot of painting to go. Final pictures coming up most probably saturday! Someone asked what it was for. This piece will be one of my entry at Englands Games Day this year. Tell what you think! There is still time for me to adjust lol. Washed out tatoos are for 4th Co. and Veterancy. Drafted in 1st Co for terminator honours he was sent back to his original company as a Dreadnought. http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2284.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2283.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2298.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2289.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2297.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2294.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2295.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2293.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2288.jpg http://blacksaints.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/img_2296.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197114-ultramarine-bust-julius-antigonus-dreadnought/page/2/#findComment-2359411 Share on other sites

Freakiq
Incredibly well done, your painting is if possible even better than your sculpting. Looks just like how I imagine a venerable brother would look. Emperor's Instrument
^ Agreed haha. But I agree, that has to go to UK Games Day 2010. It's possibly the most original sculpt I've ever seen. Pulse
Oh .....my.....god. I was actually stunned looking at the sculpting work the muscle detailing, very realistic, wow. Then i carried on and got to the painting and my mind actually blew! The skin tone and metals are amazing, but... but the tattoo is amazingly realistic and sets the peice off brilliantly. I am so keeping an eye on this. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197114-ultramarine-bust-julius-antigonus-dreadnought/page/2/#findComment-2359527 Share on other sites

Terminatorinhell
I am a huge fan of the muscle detailing and the raw areas near the wires! Enter that puppy in GD and you will win for sure! 1TH0R3
When half your torso's missing i dont think you'd care about how your arm is doing. Just saw page two: holy ... thats fantasmic painting... like wow Hello again, Im not sure how to multi quote so i'll go one by one sorry for the inconvenience. ''when half your torso is gone...'' HAHAHA. Boy im still laughing at that one... When it came down to scultp the face I had 2 avenues I could take. The ever depicted square jaw that we see on every space marine hunk wasnt what I was going for. Since Julius must have spent a few hundred years in fluid and let's add for all matter that the guy ''died'', the muscles he has left in his face are rendered to flask. His body is dead, his mind is FIRE! Ive been painting historical for so many years that I tend to put a lot of effort in painting it. Its all about glazing. The skin is an other matter. Synth skin graft are here and there and the tatoos had to be more than just paint on a body. Haunter!
This is ridiculously awe inspiring. The openings in the flesh (around the spine in particular) are amazingly well done and the studs in the carapace look great. The tattoos are easily the icing on this eternal warrior of a cake; I love the stylized Terminator Honours. I will be forever disappointed in the Golden Daemon judges if this doesn't take home the gold. Anvil_of_War
When I saw the sculpt I knew it was impressive, once it was painted it was stunning.
