Dezartfox
I'm really intrigued to see how this works mate, especially as I'm running a Dante/Guard list too. However I'm not taking quite so many upgrades, and one less squad in favour of some Baal Predators and a small Death Company.\ A nice tactic I've found is taking a small unit of DC, which unlocks a DC Dreadnought, which you can then take in a Drop Pod with locator beacon. Causes some carnage on the way down, and provides an anchor for my non-Dante squad angels to descend upon in turn two. Q I like that idea. I don't want to take tanks as they dont fit with the theme.. however a Dreadnought might. Dezartfox
How have you done those Priest? Just the usual sang guard bits, the probey bit is the hilt of one of the small knives in the sang guard box :) the bit it joins to is just a random piece, anything thats suitable. Cable is metal cable from Dragon Forge. Heads are from various sources, vehicle sprue, apothecary etc Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2351601 Share on other sites
banis
If you plan to deepstrike everything, that dreadnought is going be awful alone when i lands on turn one :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2351607 Share on other sites
Sviox
Not sure if this is the perfect place for this post but since it has so much Sanguinary goodness around, I'll ask anyway. How do you guys attach those wings? I though they would fit in neatly with the jump pack but having a jump pack and pair of wings on my hands here I must question if it's better to actually glue those wings to the torso of the mini instead? And another thing - what do you think is the optimal Sanguinary Guard squad options? I'm thinking about chapter banner, Death Masks and MAYBE one Infernus pistol, nothing more. A third thing about the rules, the codex specifically says the blades are two-handed, but does that give any bonus over one handed weapons or why is it mentioned? Does it just lack the bonus for two close combat weapons? Dezartfox
Wings - I put a bit of glue on the ball joint on the torso and then also on the small thruster on the pack, as 90% of the time the wing touches it. That way it's glued in two places. By the sounds of your post you didn't get the back part of the torso, that has the small ball on it for the wings to attach too, In my list I have 3 variations, melta pistol squad with dante, a plasma squad for shooting, and then 2 normal squads with a fist and a melta pistol, haven't tested this out yet though. Correct on the swords, tis more of a fluff thing than anything, but two handed means they cant hold anything else (hence the wrist mounted guns!) Chaplain Desmodus
You've managed to build great models, the movement is really nice and even the legs that looks stumbly in GWs own pictures look good here. Much better posing than GW did on their models. Well done. Dezartfox
Testing out the colours: http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg246/Dezartfox/models2/DSCF1777.jpg Two washes of Gryphonne sepia over grey primer, highlight of bleached bone in my streaky stlye, then a tiny highlight of white. Then another wash of sepia to tie it together. Still needs a little shading with some Devlan :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2351847 Share on other sites

ancient god
That's the Sanguinor, one of our new characters. ;) And wow, great result for something that's essentially a washing technique! Do the white right and he'll look awesome on the board. He really reminds me of that old Davidoff Cool Water commercial with the naked cliff jumper. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2351923 Share on other sites
Muzza
Wow, that is amazing I can't believe you can get that gold\bronze from just a wash over a grey base coat. You learn something new everyday as I only use the black and dev mud washes just to darken\dirty up models. The whole army done like this will be increadible, I was worried about an all gold army but now I see it will work perfectly. Well done. Chris Murray. Dezartfox
Cheers everyone I started on the whites, but unsure on them, I like to have a sort of "realistic" feel to my models, using the same colours to tie a model together, the whites shaded with blue stand out TOO much I think. The bases are all going to be desert like, so was thinking of bringing the wings up from a similar colour.. to give an overall brown and gold feel to the model. I'm actually gonna go buy a second Sanguinor and paint him like above, then either sell or give this model to GW  http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg246/Dezartfox/models2/DSCF1778.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2352215 Share on other sites
SpektreOz
If you look at the White Dwarf when they are giving examples of their NMM technique, the SG with power fist has brown shade wings... looks much better in my opinion. Glendor
Wow I think that is one of the best looking models I have ever seen. Is that what NMMs are? is this another way to paint gold, sorry I have no experience painting these. teeef
Looking pretty good. Almost makes me want the model. Are you using Tamiya Fine Surface for your gray primer? Something else? Basically using colors like browns to emitate (spelling? lol) gold and greys to emitate silver. BTW the Sanguinor looks ace! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2352325 Share on other sites
Grimm Blade
REALLY nice job on the NMM!!! And that has to be the simplest technique I have ever seen! I am extreemly jeleous of your army! My pocket book just won't let it happen for me :D I will have to live vicariously through you. Were you able to equip all of the guard the way you wanted from the kits that you bought (Infurnus pistols etc...), or did you have to trade/custimize etc...? I am really looking forward to watching this force progress. A couple of battle reports would be nice to  GB Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2352344 Share on other sites
Chaplain Desmodus
In the second picture Sang looks like he's got a flat tan, compared to the sparkly contrasts of the first picture. I liked the first version better. ;) Perhaps add some more highlights again? Keep the white wings, they look great! ancient god
Yeah, pretty much what Des said. B) Definitely keep the cold white wings, you need that kind of contrast on the model. Indeed it does, thanks for answering my Question! Right, I'll buy another SANGUINATOR today, finish painting this one and then either let GW have it for their cabinet, or plonk it on ebay. :P Cheers everyone! Were you able to equip all of the guard the way you wanted from the kits that you bought (Infurnus pistols etc...), or did you have to trade/custimize etc...? I am really looking forward to watching this force progress. A couple of battle reports would be nice to ;) GB From the army list above, I was able to equip everyone, I bought 5 boxes of Sang Guard and Dante, £110 :) If I'd have gotten it from Wayland or somewhere, would have been around £90. Battlereports tonight! Have a game against Tau. In the second picture Sang looks like he's got a flat tan, compared to the sparkly contrasts of the first picture. I liked the first version better. B) Perhaps add some more highlights again? Keep the white wings, they look great! Yeah my lighting sucks, and I regret putting a final wash over the highlights now, turned out too flat. Well.. thats what test models are for I guess! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197240-sanguinary-guard-army-blog/page/2/#findComment-2352674 Share on other sites
