Really great stuff!

I especially like the new Sanguinor and Dante, the scale looks way better.

How many do you have left?

Too bad about the loss. Mephiston is nasty isn't/wasn't he.

Cheers :D

just started on second squad, should be done by tomorrow easily, now I know what I'm doing. My aim was to have two squads (10) done by Thursday, and then the other 15 models in the second week. I need to get them done before Thursday the 27th really, as Thursday I'll be gaming, Friday I'll be travelling down to Nottingham and gaming more!

So two days to do a squad is a good target for me,

Yeah.. meph is nasty. Especially as I have no psychic defence. However it took Darklighter four games to get that win!

Sounds like Meph paid dearly for his win! :D

I think you are right that you will be able to quickly finish off the remaining models now that you have the technique figured out. It was the same for me with my FTs.

Best of luck maintaining your impressive battle stats.

I agree.

Now that you have perfected your technique, you should share your knowledge with the rest of us :)

I like the glow on the gun and the jump packs, but agree with you that it seems out of place on the eyes.

I went for a larger glow on my jump packs

Right, re-took photos of the first squad, they've had some changes made, nothing major, just a little weathering powder here and there

Also finished the Plasma Squad (5 plasma pistols is brilliant)

Recipe:

Mainly washes believe it or not.

Armour is Grey primer, 2 washes of Gryphonne sepia, hightlight with Bleached bone, highlight with white, another wash of Sepia.

Wings are three coats of white, building it up over the previous sepia wash, then the white gets a wash of sepia, I wipe most of it back off with my finger, the wings then get some FW dark sand weathering powder applied, and then where the boosters are, some FW black soot.

shoulder wings and weapon hilts/decoration is Astron grey, highlighter with white, followed by two washes of sepia.

The glow is simple few layers of thinned white, then a wash of asurmen blue, (plasma weapons are different, look lower down). Then a dot of white for the source.

Red is merchrite foundation, blood red, the a highlight of orange, washed with Devlan.

Gems are tausept ochre, highlighted with sunburst yellow, then two washes of baal red, dot of white

@Grimm,

looking good!

wow i must be doing something wrong lol the 2 washes never look right to me. hhmmm

I use A LOT of wash, don't paint it on, load your brush and "pool" it on, that way you wont get any brush marks etc  Great thing about washes is they don't add any weight, so you can use as much as many layers as you like. My Chaplain for my DW was painted using washes:

ya normally me and washes are best friends but for some reason it just dosnt look right..sigh i shall keep trying. but played my first two games with my all sanguinary army and tabled a logan wing then played tyranids and i HATE...HATE the Doom of Malintine....with a passion that one model killed almost half my army then the swarm lord finished off what was left...but o well cant win em all.

YES!!! You have done an amazing job on the plasma pistiol squad! I love the white as opossed to the usual blue.

I also really like the power fist guy's glowing bionic eye, it is brilliant (in more ways than one :D )

The only thing I am unsure if I like or not is the yellow inferno pistol glow.....

after looking at it again, I think it needs more depth. Right now it looks like it is straight yellow, whereas your other glows all have an awesome transition from their base coulour to white. I know you are on a tight schedule, but a little addition will go a long way on this guy I think :P

Constructive comments aside. I think that this is an amazing squad! I can't wait to see the rest. I am impressed that you are able and willing to consistantly paint tabletop minis to such a high standard!

GB

As I said, I am not oposed to the yellow. I just think that it needs a little fine tuning

Edit: Forget my Orginal comments! I am definetely gona build a Sanguinary Guard list after reading this thread. I might try squeeze in 2 stormravens with dreads and 1 libby though. I'll find a way somehow.

A libby and Dreads would be nice additions indeed!

I would think that fluff wise your libby should be Mephiston though. Meph and Dante seem to be pretty close :D

Would you paint your Dreads gold?

I love your painting with washes... it looks like a great way to get a quick and quality result. Do you also paint vehicles with washes? I'm curious how you'd handle a dreadnought or tank.

Never really tried a vehicle, but I would use the spray gun/airbrush to avoid to brush marks, pass over it a few times to get a thick wash.

FINISHED ^_^

11 days it took me to paint them all!

I'm sure you've heard about how great these guys look, but WOW. I think I'll have to do two test Guard.. one washed with Sepia (what was the base again? gray?) and one with Reaper Pro Paint's Dragon Gold... But really, wow. These look FANTASTIC.

How many did you have to saw/clip/snip to give them unique-ish poses?
