Ok so finally got the camera battery charged on my wifes digital SLR, it take MUCH better photos than my camera phone! I have taken some general over view army shots.

If anyone wants any specific shots of models, units, anything like that please let me know and I will take more now that I have access to a good camera again!

Don't tempt me.... I have always wanted one of those, however so far I have managed to keep all of my purchases limited to models that I can actually use on the table.

Hmmmm... could always use it as terrain I suppose.

Your assault marines appear to have chopped up some of their brethren...

Great work, very nice force brother.

Hehe yeah by the time you make full weapon swaps for all the different variations you end up with a lot of spare limbs floating around. The worst part is when you do all the models in two lots... and somehow stuff the magentic polarities up so that they are different from one lot to the next. :)

Perfect....Stunning brother Dono! You make me to add some photos of my crusade too!

I like the Assault squad pozer guys with big swords! ;)

And by the way i told you before i love the tempests and now are playable count as typhoon imo! they have missiles side, AC= H.bolter? :(

Yeah the tempest was a pretty lucky break for me, I had decided to go the Tempest model no matter what, and then a month or so latter the FAQ came out and made the Typhoons awesome. The model indeed has the Missile Launchers and you are right, I just use the Autocannon as a Heavy Bolter and no one minds at all.

It makes it a lot easier for people to remember that Landspeeders are NOT open topped either! :-)

You could ask your friend if they let you use a thunderhawk. And now the awkward question brother..... How much did you pay for all this? It is very impressive, especially if you get that Chapter Keep you mentioned, and 1 or 2 thunderhawks...

btw, nice conversion to your dreads from the furioso.

Yeah the Keep unfortuantely probably wont happen. I cannot find a way to transport the thing 1,000km without completely destroying it or paying three times its cost in transportation. A very big pity because it is truly one of a kind and marvelous.

As for the cost of the over all Crusade.... probably over $2k. Maybe close to $3k when it is all done and dusted. Scary figures but it is my 'once in a life time' army (combined with the Imperial guard).

  • 1 month later...

Ok finally got 99% of parts to finish off the last few components of the Crusade. I will start assembling the Bikes (jetbikes) and Attack Bikes (attack jetbikes) with the their various weapon load outs.

I will have 6 Bikes, each rider capable of being equiped with a chainsword, Plasmagun, Meltagun or Power Lance. I will then have 3 Attack Bikes who will be ridden by Chaplains to represent the two wound model, they will be equiped as either an Attack Bike with a multimelta attached to the bottom of the jetbike whilst the rider is equiped with a chain axe, or an actual Chaplain mounted on a bike armed with a power axe.

Plus I have the parts (except for the gothic style backpacks Maxmini are doing) to make half a dozen Cenobyte Servitors armed with Maces.

I will start taking some photos of the construction and hopefully have them ready in a few weeks and send them off for painting.

On another note, the Kildrech Crusade is off to its first tournament on Monday, 1500 points of pure Mech in a teams tournament. Go PotMS!

Amazing army! You have done an outstanding job on customising your crusade.

I really like all the details and mods you have done, from the simple touches to the more complex ones.

Seriously inspiring and intimidating!

Ok with the release of the Gothic Backpacks from Maxmini and the new vented backpacks from the FW Heavy Weapons packs (both of which are shipping their way to me now) I thought I had better get the last of the models ready for completion. I have done some work on the Jetbikes (photos coming soon) but have also nearly finished the Cenobyte Servitors, I am just waiting on some more heads (the same as the Neophytes) and the gothic backpacks (not sure which one to use, the other will then be used on the Chaplains), both pictured below:

Ok the first Bike is done, I still need to do a little green stuff around the driving arm (mainly the wrist) and need to trim some of the green stuff around the waist (over weight riders!), also need to attach the back pack once they arrive from Forge World, going to use these ones:

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/backpack.jpg

I need to try and perfect the arm poses for the lance and the chainswords, trying to concentrate on heating up the resin and manipulating it and then cooling it, all whilst trying to wath an 11 week old puppy is interesting. But I am reasonably sure it should end up ok. I plan on putting a small Templar cross on the blank circle on the left hand side of the bike and still tossing up whether or not to put the bike aerial on the back of housing or not.

I have another five to do, half of them will have the weapons equipped on the right hand side, plus the three Chaplain Attack Bikes, they should be much easier, far less weapon options and less leg manipulation.

The Chaplain Attack Bikes were much easier to put together than I thought. The legs fit perfectly and only required a tiny bit of carving (the zealot bikes requires lots of modifications), and the gripping arm was also easy to splice and repose. The Chaplains only have two weapon load outs; a chain axe with a multimelta underslung for when they are repesenting an Attack Bike with MultiMelta, or a power axe with no weapon underslung for when they are representing a real Chaplain on a bike.

There aren't any large enough spaces to attach any plastic BT iconography on either the Zealot or the Kromlech bikes so I tried just attaching some purity and crusader seals on the Chaplain one, I think it looks good and will do it to all of them. I will attach some very small Templar Cross transfers onto some blank spaces to make sure that there is the Cross present. Plus the Chaplain bikes will have a lot of writing and liturgies all over them like vehicles, not so much for the regular bikes.

Again I am still awaiting the Maxmini Gothic Back Packs to put on them, that will really finish them off I think.

Templars Air Cav FTW!

We NEED our own rules for bike/jetbike cavalry formations in the next BT codex... we are the templar knights of 40k!

We should be hitting the enemy in the flanks with power lance strikes

I'm a big fan of the kromlech bike design as you know. I also pondered on where to add the iconography.

The jetbikes which I am using for basic bikes are from Zealot Miniatures, however they stopped production the day after they released the line, most likely due to pressure from you know who. I was lucky enough to get a half dozen before they ceased completely. They are nice and sleek and I really like the look of them, plus they tie in relatively nicely with the Kromlech Bikes which are the ones I am using to counts as Attack Bikes.

The Kromlech bikes are still available from Kromlech and their ebay store, I can highly recommend their products, I have used a huge amount and never ever come across any problems, top quality stuff. Their bikes also fit the GW biker legs perfectly, whilst the Zealot ones took a look of carving and manipulation to get the legs to fit, not fun at all.

Cheers

Its been a while but finally got a good chunk of movement on the last bits of my Crusade, my latest Maxmini order arrived and with it the final parts for my Bikers and Servitors.

I really like the way my Cenobyte Servitors have come out and look forward to seeing them with a paint scheme, looking at two tone greys with crosses on the robes.

The Chaplains also look much better with the maxmini back pack as well, plus the Chaplain bikers (Attack Bikes) are also completed, they were reasonably simple to model and get completed. The normal Jetbikes are a pain in the butt with conversion required on the bike itself plus some remoulding of the riders legs to make them fit. Lots of fiddly work and I just cant get the motivation up to get them done (not when I have 80+ IG ready to build that dont require any hard work at all!).

The only other elements of the Crusade that I am still looking at doing is another Emperor's Champion using the Forge World Games Day only model and then, when I find something I like, a dedicated Marshal model. I am assuming that Forge World will eventually bring out a marshal/captain character in the Mk III armour which I will use.

I will provide another update as soon as I get the last of the five jetbikes completed, however here are a couple of pics of the first one done with the Forge World backpacks from the Heavy Weapons sets, I like the way the vents are facing backwards, gives more of a motion effect.

Chaplain and cenobytes are looking tricked out with those packs! I like them a lot!

I did that with my jetbike riders too. The rear facing vents on FW heavy weapon packs are perfect for fast attack riders IMO.

I'm still not decided on a weapon to arm my boarding marine EC with! Its a tricky one because his pose is so static, body cast in one big part.

I'm probably going to model him as I have my current one; holding a power glaive (black sword) and a Crusade Banner (because I love banners and that way you will ALWAYS have a banner on the field). Or I might magnetise the banner so that if I do actually field the banner bearer for some random reason I will then put a storm shield on the EC to represent his invulnerable (which always forget).

If I cant get the motivation up to get the regular Bikes finished in the next week I will send the currently completed stuff off to get painted early next weekend. Steve is normally pretty quick with get stuff down so I would anticipate some completed models inside of a month.

I really do want to try and get them all done and dusted though so I might try and force the motivation levels up there somehow (getting distracted by World of Tanks.... awesome game... just lacking the Predator and Vindicator! :) )

  • 3 weeks later...

Well had a lung infection over the pas week and thought, hey the best thing I can do is work with some resin dust right?! So I got motivated and did some modeling, got a heap of IG done and then yesterday focuses on the last of the Crusade, the jetbikes. I managed to get a huge amount done yesterday and prepped for the final parts today.

Effectively I have remoulded all the legs into sitted positions, mounted all the driving hands, magnetised all the arms and torso's, glued all the weapons onto the arms. All I need to do today is grab the hair dryer and repose all the arms into a more appropriate angles and glue the torso onto the legs... oh and glue some purity seals onto the bikes themselves.

then I am done and dusted!! The only things left would be a few shoulder pads for the jetbikes and the new heavy weapon guys. A head and sword for the new Marshal and to complete the EC when he arrives from America (thanks Trig!!).

So close.... Must resist temptation of buying anything else for the Crusade until the new codex comes out.
