Dono1979
Ok.... dont try to model and magnetise whilst under the influence of prescription pain killers... I stuffed up the polarity of 15 out of 16 weapon arms today!! Had to drill the magnets out of each one and reset, boy was I peeved. However the bikes are done!! (except for a little bit of GSing and awaiting missing shoulder pads). Boy is that a relief, I really like the look of the of them and am now looking forward to seeing what Korocite does with the pain scheme. Here are a heap of pics with them with each of their different weapon configuration, so each rider can be equipped with either a Plasma Gun, Melta Gun, Chainsword or Power Weapon (Lance). Dono1979
Yeah no worries at all, they are effectively the same model, the Forge World Black Templar model, same weapon layout options; dual DCCW, Lascannon, Assault Cannon and a Force Weapon counting as a DCCW (used when not going dual DCCW). The paint scheme is slightly different, with more emphasis on red in one, and white in the other, matched by their drop pods. I am seriously tossing up as to whether or not get a Third..... http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/040-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/041-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/042-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/043-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/044-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/045-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/046-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/048-1.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/047-1.jpg -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2846970 Share on other sites

Dono1979
Thanks for the compliments, it has been a long time in the making and it looks like I have decided to delay the completion a little longer now. The temptation has been too strong and I have decided to add a number of additional things to the Crusade: MkIIB Phobos Landraider 3 x Tarantula Sentry Guns (can be setup as Heavy Bolter, Lascannons, Multimelta or Air Defense platforms) Damocles Rhino 2 x Whirlwind Hyperios Contemptor Dreadnought with DCCW How I am still married I have no idea.... -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2859133 Share on other sites

Dono1979
Ok finally the parcel arrived containing the bits I needed to finish my marshal off. An assortment of swords and some Grey Knight Power Armour heads. Not much variety in the GK heads so i used the one with skulls on the sides for the hell of it. The power swords however were very underwhelming and pretty plain so I have set them aside for the time being. The other sword I got were the daemon sword... much better! I have used one of the styles which there are two of (or very close to it anyway), that way I can put on the Power Armour version and one on the Terminator version with them counting as Lightning Claw. The massive one with Skulls on it is being reserved for the new Emperors Champion I am planning. Anyway here are some shot of the Marshal with the arms put in place (not glued yet). http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-19.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-16.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/006-14.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/005-15.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/004-17.jpg I am now modifying the Marshal in Terminator armour a little, found some nice new shoulders for him, putting his old shoulders onto a Chaplain in Terminator armour and also got shoulders for an Apothecary in Terminator armour, which brings the entire Sword Brethren into Terminator armour equivalents. Not much else to put together now, just some Tarantula Sentry guns which will get dual use in my BT and IG forces, some Razorback turrets (Whirlwind Hyperios and Daomcles) and as I said above, the EC eventually. -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2877129 Share on other sites
Dono1979
Ok, long time between work on the Templars, I have been doing some work on my IG and also just plain life (puppy and new job). However all of the Templar stuff has been completed and has now been sent off to get painted. Hopefully in a month or so we will see: - Bikes (Jetbikes) - Cenobyte Servitors - Tarantula Sentry Guns (multiple turret types, Multimelta, Lascannon, Heavy Bolter, Hyperios) - Damocles Rhino - New Heavy Weapon Initiates - New Marrshal in Power armour I finally caved and placed another Forge World order and will shortly have a Relic Contemptor Dreadnought with a Dreadnought Drop Pod. That will pretty much complete the entire Crusade model wise, there will be an additional inclusion in the form of a Vulture which will be Imperial Navy support on occasion from the IA books. I am now focusing on the Terrain for both armies (BT & IG) and have started locking down a theme for it. Rather than lots of devastated buildings and suchlike I am strongly leaning towards a well established siege battlefield. Now that the Hirst Arts fortress has flown the coup and never to return, I am pretty keen to build an intact fortress of some type so I am looking at getting half a dozen Imperial Bastions to make a variety of buildings including a large scale Fortress. However rather than the Aegis defense lines I am looking at using the Quantum Gothic range for perimeter walls and additional terrain pieces. If you havent already seen their range I STRONGLY recomend you take a look, it is superb. In the meantime, as I said, hopefully have some more pics of the completed models in a month, and should be recieving the Dreadnought in a week or so. With any luck Should be able to have a Crusade wide army shot early in the new year! -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2916033 Share on other sites

Dirt Diglett
Out of curiosity, and to help me mimic your crusade squads, where did you get the two-handed GK falchions? eBay doesn't help at all... Dono1979
I used a lot of Maxmini and Kromlech stuff in the Crusade to add a little bit of unique flavour, I would strongly recommend you take a look at their range. The swords are called Rippers. I also used Kromlech's vibro glaives on the Terminators and Emperors Champions. -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2918201 Share on other sites
Dono1979
Ok, havent got any new painted stuff back but I have completed the Contemptor and his Drop Pod, plus all of the Tarantula's (wow they were hard ;) ). I have a couple of Autocannons coming for the contemptor and I will be building five Servitors for the Techmarine and then that is truly and utterly it until the new codex comes out and then I will need to grab what ever units are missing from the Crusade (please please please dont put a Thunderhawk in the Codex, I will get divorced!). I have a fair bit of progress on the IG stuff and lots of new stuff coming in for that as well, as I intend to run a Tyrants list using the BT and IG armies I have, I reckon the Tyrants Legion just fits perfectly for my fluff. Now the contemptor is NOWHERE near the quality as Matt's but I am happy with him. I may have used too many magnets, but can swivel at the hip joint (and break apart for transport) plus all the weapons are interchangeable, including the built in ones in his hands. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/009-14.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/008-14.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/007-16.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/006-16.jpg -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2943989 Share on other sites

Dono1979
Just finished the proto-type Servitor, in a variety of configurations; Combat, Gun (Heavy Bolter) and Tech. I have used Puppetswar mechanical limbs along with some Kromlech and Maxmini parts. I was originally intending the Puppetswar limbs to be for my IG servitors but they are really Space Marine sized bits. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/008-15.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/007-17.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/006-17.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/005-18.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/003-22.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/002-20.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/001-18.jpg -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2946955 Share on other sites
Dono1979
Ok, its been a long while but I finally have a solid update to make. The first batch of the last section of the Crusade came back from Korocite (the painter) this afternoon, this parcel containing the spare weapons, some shields, heavy weapon alternate arms and.... the bikes! There were three Attack Bikes (or Chaplains on bikes if I ever run them that way) and six normal bikes. Each of the Attack bikes can be setup as either an actual chaplain on a bike with a Power Weapon, or an Attack Bike with a chain axe and multimelta underslung (a little hard to see in the pics). Each of the normal bikes can be armed with either a chainsword, plasma pistol, meltagun or power weapon (power lance!). None of them have a base as yet, I am still unsure as to what to do, I might just get some acrylic tubing to suspend the bikes 10mm off a cavalry base so as not to get them too high. But anyway, onto the pics.... Attack/Chaplain Bikes: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/014-9.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/015-9.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/016-10.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/017-8.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/018-7.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss62/dono1979/019-6.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2969197 Share on other sites

Marshal Severarse
Spectacular. Love your style. I feel like I just got smacked in the face with a 'No, this is how Grimdark Gothic should be done, biotch,' backhand. Now that I've slobbered all over your groin, I have but one question to ask: 'Is that a Daemon weapon in the hands of your Marshal?' I am certain this is just a mistake for which a scribe servitor shall be reduced to scrap, but I thought I would bring it to your attention. It would be a shame to lose such a talented creator to a mob of zealots mistaking you for a witch or a heretic, all over a simple spelling mistake. I feel like I just got smacked in the face with a 'No, this is how Grimdark Gothic should be done, biotch,' backhand. Cheers, but I cannot take credit for the painting, only the modelling and converting. All the painting has been commissioned through Korocite, he has been able to translate my descriptions and wishes into painted models! 'Is that a Daemon weapon in the hands of your Marshal?' I am certain this is just a mistake for which a scribe servitor shall be reduced to scrap, but I thought I would bring it to your attention. No no, you see the Black Templar have such awesome weapons that even the Daemons of the Warp have started immitating us, we are that awesome! So in short yes it is, its the best looking huge sword I could find and like a few people have commented on before being flayed alive, the odd bit of Chaos and Daemon stuff looks pretty good on a BT army :) thanks for the comments! -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2969771 Share on other sites

Dono1979
Well, the never ending Crusade appears to be a hard bug to get rid of, I thought that I had completed the Crusade but lo and behold I discovered two people who may be recieving a chunk of my money: One gentleman who makes Warhawks (Thunderhawks on steroids, over twice the size, capable of carrying 6 rhinos or 4 Landraiders!!) http://apocalypse40k.com/index.php?/topic/...-marine-lander/ And another one who makes Fellblades (Pre heresy Baneblades which were commanded by Space Marines!). http://apocalypse40k.com/index.php?/topic/...-space-marines/ Sigh... and then I suppose I will cave in and buy an Assault Ram.... -Dono Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212277-kildrech-crusade-modeling-diary/page/7/#findComment-2988690 Share on other sites
philsminions
Wow...that Fellblade is simply amazing. I cannot believe the amount of modeling that went into the creation of that monster. If only I had the time and money for stuff like that...oh, yeah...and the talent! Thanks for all of your posts. You really have done some great research in finding the "out of the box" stuff that makes 40k armies very unique. I think your Crusade would be very welcoming of the Templar Hellblade. Would be a sight to behold, for sure! Dono1979
@philsminions - Thanks mate, I have really tried to find unique bits to put into the army and hope that they have helped others looking for alternatives as well. @Brother Uriel - I used the Inquisitor Cotez (spelling?) model in failcast. I carved the eagle off his arm and replaced it with a sword and cut the thunder hammer off in favour of a Storm Shield. Also shaved all the Inquisition symbols off and replaced his head with a GK one. I really like the model and it was the first one that really grabbed me as an awesome Marshal.
