Purifiers/And their mysteryNemesis.

So, are we going for a Black Templar approach to purity here, or an Ultramarines type approach? Zealous search for purity versus smug possession of it? I feel that making the Purifiers the way we're leaning to sort of distracts from their goody-two-shoes veneer, where they civilize worlds into Macragge 2.0, like someone said earlier, and then their Nemeses come and obliterate it.

Oh, and Drichar Deis, the book/movie is "The Da Vinci Code". But Dan Brown is an idiot, despite his interesting plots.

In regards to their IF geneseed being less pure, do we have an answer for that yet? My idea is that they recognized that their two missing organs weren't to the highest standard of purity so they discarded them altogether. It's not the most accurate, but to the Purifiers, it would make sense. They would tell themselves this neat little lie in order to preserve their purity ideals. Thoughts?

Would make sense, perhaps they could have some sort of hidden database only the Apothecaries are allowed to see (for medical reasons of some sort)? I also get the idea that Apothecaries are important, but we can see on that later.

So, do we agree on IF gene-seed with an UM attitude?

More thoughts:

-high chaplain and apothecary count for mental/physical purity

-each planet they provide help to gives them a replacement number of people for twice the number of lost marines

-anyone that isn't deemed a good recruit joins either the serfs or the Space Hulk Defence Force(sort of an elite PDF/guard thing. Think all veteran and ST squads.)

I like Shinzaren's knowing lie idea. It adds a 40k "nothing is truly pure" element to it.

Even more:

If we get enough people, we could assign each person a section or two, have them work on it until a set date, compare them together, comment on them, re-edit them, and make them fit together. This would need to be worked on and thought about in more detail, but I think it might be usable.

As per request, I've read through all the stuff you've got so far. :D

Well, if my Red Lords can do it with Raven Guard geneseed, I don't see what's stopping you from doing it with Imperial Fist successors. ;)

According to the Red Lords, their geneseed is the best geneseed, because it roots out those not pure enough to survive the implantation. :P

It's entirely plausible that you could tread a similar road with these guys.

Having read everything in this thread, I'd drop the space hulk, honestly. If the chapter's based on it, it's a heck of a large risk, and will take a lot of explaining. If the chapter's not based on the hulk, then what makes it so important? :P

And I'd especially drop this idea. Seperation of powers, right? ;)

Also, there's a lot of chapters doing the rounds at the minute that are big on purity - so you'll need a personality twist that makes your lads noticeably different.

For instance, the Sons of Pyron are big on fire (Ok, so Ecritter's already on your team, and so you probably already know that), and the Red Lords are rather dislikably arrogant, (although they've been out of the loop for the last few weeks. )

Lastly, I'm sorry to say I'm not sure about the colour scheme.

The Purifiers look like Luna Wolves with black kneepads. That's not a criticism, since the Luna Wolves were the coolest looking legion, but it wouldn't hurt the Purifiers to stand out a little more. ^_^

I'm not against the whole Space Hulk idea, I just reiterate my earlier suggestion. Cut away the useless bits, pare it down to a manageable size, and slap some engines on it. IF gene-seed is good. I'll update the main post.

As far as colors go. I know Ace has a coloring fetish, so perhaps he could be convinced to come up with a few schemes for us? ;) Gold or silver would be good, but I personally don't mind the white at all.

I say a more golden color scheme .... or silver kinda knightly.

And that's all I need to start painting. It doesn't take much, huh? ;)

EDIT: cuttting down on picture count by eliminating the none-needed ones.

Burnished Gold, Chainmail, and Brazen Brass respectively.

These randomly generated ideas can be easily and summarily dismissed if they don't suit, of course. I'm just throwing suggestions out there. :)

I was already painting when you posted that. :D

I'm just generous with my inspirations, I guess.

I recommend combining Ace's first idea with Ecritter's second. Add the red trim to the shoulders, and make the eagle bright white? I dunno, I feel like I'm standing on the ground while Titans duel with paintbrushes, all the while shouting, "No! Use that color!"

You guys work it out ;)

Kinda like the 3rd I did then?

How about this for the baddies?

Where do you even find half these pics? I dunno what we're going for in regards to the Nemesis chapter. We're trying to nail down all the details on the Purifiers first haha ;)

I'm just gonna throw that idea out there then. :D

EDIT: Look further down for the thrown out idea.

Ecritter's silver/gold combo is also pretty neat. ^_^

I'd prefer a white belt, but that is just as good. I give it my vote.

One small change, the small parts between the backpack and the exhausts. Brown?

Okay now that thats over, on with the Pures.

They need character of some sort ... or they will be just UMs.

How does their purity drive them, how do they achieve purity (Sons of Pyron burn the impure), stuff like that. Basically we need a theme to work around.

My Sons theme ... Neo-Nazi Spartans with a fire fetish.

We need something like that to work from.
