Nathaniel's Sons Of Gorgon Post Heresy Death Guard

Brother Melice

Recommended Posts

I'll post a picture of my take on the Melice Pattern Armor later this evening. I have the basics together and am waiting on some putty to dry so I can work some more. I made him true scale and will probably paint him in the Alpha Legion colors but all credit for the design go to you and will be mentioned and linked to when I start a WIP topic here. Thanks for the inspiration.

NO Problem Brother, id love to see where this design takes you.

I'm greatly impressed by your models, but mostly by the artwork. Your skill with a pencil is incredible! Out of curiosity, how long have you been drawing for?

Looking forward to seeing an update :P

I had a chance to finish building and undercoating my True Scale marine wearing Melice Pattern power armor here are the pics. I would like to note that the legs and original torso were made by Sersi, I added the cabling to the chest, the arms from a chaos terminator and FW MKIV helmet.

Nice army but your artwork its outstanding.

Thanks brother :P

mikhail,

Damn he looks great brother, now is he going to be a Carcharodon??? or another chapter? I'd love it to be Carcharodon... he looks so awesome...

And those MK IV Red Scorpion helms are so great, wish Id have access to them...

Anyways, he looks marvelous Bro.

Edit: ok, now it settled in in my mind, i want that model.

I'll send him to you if you like, I can always make more. This was an experiment for me on making the cabling and posing actually and I think that I have learned quite a bit from it. PM me your address and I'll ship him out this weekend and throw in some MKIV helmets I have laying around.

Brother, done!!!!!!!

Hey brothers.

There has been a lot of sidetracking in this thread, but it still is about the army first.

First off will be the last, third Tactical squad... Mostly 2 ed minis with new goodies added on to break up the dullness and uniformity. I managed to loose a lot of their original bolters with hands over the years ( i got these in 98) so had to cut and paste new hands from modern kits.

gallery_52083_5542_66353.jpg

I have managed to start on Doghouse Gothic Pattern Marines for my command squad, but discovered a small dilemma. What do I make them, a shooty meltagun specialist unit or a hellish plasmagun unit???? I have enough parts to make actually two units plus a standard.

So Im thinking:

One 4 man unit will be my Gothic marines, but need help on the loadout.

One 4 man unit of specialists.

Banner Bearer

Apothecary will be Gothic pattern, and will be used with what ever squad he need be.

So, you tell me, what loadout for the specialists???

For the Gothic close caombat marines, what loadout? and what characters???

Im thinking:

World Eater Captain Varren ( chainax3e will count as a power weapon)

Apothecary Voyen???

who else?

You tell me.

Here is the start of them.

Since i have only 5 warrior legs, Garro will have to be Truescale, and it does make sense to me to make him larger than life, I've fallen in love with Truescale armies while talking to many people, including the father of Truescale in my opinion, Doghouse.

Also, Mikhail said he will send me some parts, including gorgeous MK IV helmets, so i can finally make Garro as he should be. Can't say how exited I am to start on him, and how grateful I am to Mikhail for such a generous act.

I apologize for the quality of the pics, bud again, until my camera is fixed

Garro.

Concept for Varren

The idea came to me from Goose Da Moose's amazing thread Sons of Malice, 7th Company "Batko Blacks" Character he made, so that's where the Mohawk haircut is from.

After listening to "Garro, Legoin of One" the image of this huge, well groomed bearded giant with the Mohawk hair, a grim and emotionless expression on his face, Striding along Garro and Rubio, with Word Eaters' iconic chainaxe, the only thing reminding of his origin stuck in my mind.... and it all came together into this image above. He is the guy with GS beard , second from left on the picture below.

Again, he is the only character i have decided on for the command squad, so help me out. But here is the unit as it is.

The apothecary's Narthecium is made form a Terminator chainfist arm, trimmed to correct proportions, a fist from 2 ed marine kit, a tank antenna for the needle, and two missiles trimmed to look like vials of medicines.

gallery_52083_5542_249385.jpg

The back pack is made from a marine back pack, A bolter scope, and hinter killer missile parts.

Next is the Banner bearer. This little guy i have started almost 5 years ago, and was my first attempt at working with putty. My only sculpting tool back then was a scalpel, so the result was less then satisfactory. Originally he was supposed to be a captain, but he never made it far. Now he will live as the new Ancient of the company. Any thoughts an who it should be???

I will post better pictures of the progress as soon as I can get a better camera.

A special thanks so far to zenfarr, who's bitz box had enough parts i needed and was willing to trade them to me. And Mikhail, who is donating generally the nessisary parts to make the man himself, Nathaniel Garro.

Thank you brothers so much.

The revamp of the old snap fit marines is an excellent idea to fill out your force. They look better than they used to already. The gothic marines are coming along nicely as well. I had a delay in shipping out your marine so I'll be getting him and some extra parts in the post tomorrow. Do you need a FW chainaxe for Varren? I'd like to see Rubio in there as well so you'll probably be getting a Grey Knight torso in there as well. Any other parts you need let me know today, I'll gather them all up for shipping in the morning. I have an excellent pair of true scale legs that you may want to use for Garro, they are going in the box as well.

Promised updates

Banner bearer tipped.

he needs some major clean up, more gs on tabard and sleeve, his right shoulder pad has to be positioned correctly, and some minor details, But for the most part he is done, can't wait to start paint on the banner itself.

Mikhael and Zenfarr have both parted with some really nice bits for this project, and I was eager to put it to good use.

Here is the World Eater. And I still have a ton of green stuffing to do on all 5 gothic marines.

As always, suggestions? Thoughts???

looking good as ususal brother

but i don't like the banner bearers shoulder with the cloak. i think it looks strange with the shoulderpad over the cloak...

the world eater looks good, i like the use of fantasy chaos legs, but i'd try to remove the belt and buckle from his torso, cuz the legs sport another belt and two belts directly next to each other look strange imho.

I started at page one and my jaw went increasingly lower each time I hit the "next page" button. Hoh. Lee. Crap. Way to make me feel inadequate with a brush, dude! The freehand, the greenstuff, the conversion, the freaking ART! I can't point out a single bit of your army that does not look amazing. I mean, bugger all! How am I supposed to sell off my painting skill on commissions with a straight face knowing there's guys like you that make me look like the real world equivalent of Mr. Smiley? It's ridiculous! I have one nitpicky point of contention, and it has nothing to do with your paint. I thought the whole Medusa/Gorgon motif was more the domain of Ferrus Mannus and the Iron Hands?

I hear what you are saying brother, and yes, right now both things look weird, but I promise you i'll make both things work.

I'm like Horus, I turn even the most of hopeless situation into a victory. I think when the Emperor comes back from Ulanor, hell make me Warmaster :D :D

This thread is made of pure win!

Also, congrats on coming 2nd in that Parade contest (even though it's late). ;)

Thank you brother, its never too late for praise :D

Heh, commission me to do the painting ;)

The Medusa theme i'm not sure is entirely Iron Hands, their home world is, but to my knowledge thats about it.

  • 2 weeks later...
Fulgrim's nickname for Ferrus Mannus was Gorgon as well.

It might be,I don't know, have not dug my teeth into the Iron Hands fluff all that much bro. But i don't see any complications in any case :)

Loving the army, but there has to be more. :)

You can bet there will be, it's just a slow time for me, but making a steady progress...

Although had my first victory against a Mech Guard 1850 list last week with a pure Melta-Everything list...I think there is something sinister about 15 Melta weapons, 4 Autocannons, 3 Lascannons and a 5 Missile Launchers in a 1850 marines list.... ;)

  • 1 year later...

Been a long while Brothers, been kind of lost in the warp for a time))))

any how, there is a plan to start a HH truescale army.. but about that at a later time..

in the time being, here is some eye candy for you guys...

Can any one guess who this great lord is????
