Kurb
Got my hands on the White Dwarf today. I agree that, based on the interview with Ward, Codex Space Marines will get the Stormraven, no question. (I'm less convinced about Black Templar and Space Wolves). What do people think of the other parts, though? We got our own Apocalypse formations and a new Battle Mission, and even a marginal piece of fluff to go along with the Apocalypse formations. That Dante formation could bring the pain.
Brother Captain Kezef
That Dante formation could bring the pain. Oh yes, drop everyone on top of the bad guy then charge straight from landing. Will make me a happy bunny.
Leksington
I'm not getting my WD copy until Monday. What is the gist of the new formations? Edit: I guess the answer snuck in 1 minute before I finished my post. <_<
Brother Captain Kezef
I'm not getting my WD copy until Monday. What is the gist of the new formations? Basicly we get 4 1) Death company, the formation gives ALL of them, including the non-dread marines the special rule of the blood talons where you get an extra hit for each unsaved wound. 2) 3 Ravens, 3 Dreads, 3 termie squads. Can fire all 12 Blood missles for a massive blast and then offload the termies and dreads in the crater. 3) Land raider redeemer, 2 Flame baals. Can combine the flame for a massive attack that sets ground on fire for a turn. 4) Dante, Honour guard and SG. Dante drops, SG drop around him and they all get to charge on the turn they drop. Kurb
Worth mentioning that both the Death Company and the Dante formation get no scatter rules too.
Wysten
Also remember that the Dante formation loses the ability to shoot for the charge. Pretty importent, considering any transport cracking, will have to be done by other units.
Kinzel
arggg thats lame :/ That RavenDreadTermi 1 would be awesome but I'm only building 2 Ravens lol. Sneaky way to get ppl to buy more though hehe
Plague Angel
Death company, the formation gives ALL of them, including the non-dread marines the special rule of the blood talons where you get an extra hit for each unsaved wound. What I like about this one is that you could leave the Blood Fists, and still get the extra attacks. You don't reroll to wound, but you get S10 instead of S6... a fair trade. Potentially infinite S10 attacks? Good-bye, monstrous creature.
Slipp
You make good points but, if you have first turn you either move up 24 ( a must if you ask me ) but you cant get out so I missile spam it.... Even my Templar have 12 str 8 or better shots per turn, wolves are worse. If I kill it you have a nice clump of marines for my vindi or plas cannons. If you don't move 24 you are wasting it's potential as all your doing is dropping your units in my prime firing range, and still to far away from assault. I do like the regular reserves idea though had not thought of that. I hope you guys enjoy it, but my gaming club is very shooty and av 12 just doesn't stand up as a primary target. By primary I mean anything that cost in excess of 200 points and carries a payload potentially twice that, that's a large chunk at any points level. I may have to fire alot of shots to get through the cover save, but I will stop at nothing to bring it down.

garfey
Quick question - are we able to put termies in the 'raven by default then? I don't have the codex to hand but i rembemer it mentioning PA marines, and jump packs, but nothing about termies.. Though they mention it a few times in the WD article(s). cheers, Garf
Plague Angel
Termies count as 2 in a transport.
garfey
@plague angel - thanks, i knew that for land radiers but for some reason didn't think it applied to ravens. sweeet
Sanguinarian
move up 24 ( a must if you ask me ) but you cant get out Yes you can. Read "Skies of Blood" info. You can disembark but you cannot assault.
shortysl
I can almost guarantee it will never survive turn one You try telling that to Imperial Guard Valkyries. You could argue the point that Valkyries are less of a threat because their payload are 'just guardsmen' but i've seen those things fly through a torrent of weapons fire. Hell, i've FLOWN them through a torrent of weapons fire.
Emperors Immortals
I agree, already ive had amazing success with these beauties. Mine tend to survive 2 rounds of rather heavy fire almot every time, against really shooty spammer ive screened with 3 Landspeeders and ive been fine so far. So listen to the guy that quotes a Dreadnought in his sig.
Terrahawk
Thanks for the info guys, that WD sounds like a must-buy. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to butcher some heretics and bugs (or die in the process! ^_^).
