I wanted the thighs to be longer, so I sectioned the right leg behind the knee and pinned it to alter the position of it and make the leg straighter. For the left leg, I can simply add more length to the thigh from the top end, as the rest of the leg is in a position I liked, so no cutting required on that one.

Now... the sword. I had already spent some time chopping, pinning and gluing to make this sword, and while I did think it looked a bit long, I never actually compared it to the figure at any point during its construction.

Yeah.

It's about a two scale feet too long. :HQ:

I could make his legs and abdomen a little longer, but still, unless I build some huge scenic base, which I don't want to do, I'll have to chop that sword down. /sigh

Why dont you keep it as is and just chop of the bottom of the sword where it meets the base so it looks like the blade is resting in the ground? or even cooler if the base has enough room have it implaing a dead nid or CSM.

[if you mean a jeweler's saw, like this:

I have two of them, actually, with different frame sizes. And because I wanted to keep the cloak intact, it wouldn't be of much use on this project if I was doing this on the metal figure. Believe me, I've been chopping up miniatures for 15 years, and this would have been a major PITA in metal. In fact, I may not have even considered such a thing.

That's the sucker!

Surprised you hacked up the sternguard. I can see you have green fingers from other posts in this thread, why didn't you just sculpt the legs?

I might do that with the sword tip, but I dislike bases with dead enemies on them.

Where if i may ask is the big sword from?

It's chopped up from pieces of the GK termie box.

Well, I bought one box of Sternguard and got 2 replacement boxes by GW, trying to get me a Sgt figure that wasn't deformed, so I have plenty of extras to chop up for bits.

And I don't know if I'm up to sculpting legs from scratch. If I can't these to look how I want, maybe I'll give that a try.

Been busy the last few days and didn't much time work on anything until I got home from work today.

First up, the right leg on the Chapter Master conversion is now attached, with the top of the thigh armor rebuilt as well as the webbing at the hip:

I tried to sculpt some muscle-shaped armor on his abdomen, but I don't think it turned out that well and will probably give it another attempt tomorrow. And that big ugly tab of greystuff below the muscles would be covered, eventually, by a belt of some kind.

And a sneak peek of another conversion I've started:

Im loving these conversions. That librarian torso is going to look saweet! Im not really sold on the chapter masters head though. Have you tried a helmeted one?

Thanks!

Actually, I'm kinda waffling on the head choice myself and was trying out different helmeted heads last night. I was also looking through different bare heads from a bits store, and there might be hope yet for a bare head that isn't screaming and looks good.

Ive seen some of the Space Wolf heads with the hair shaved off looking pretty good and they're not all screaming. Or the BA kits?l Might be an idea? The rest of the bare SM heads are pretty generic

*edit* Or how about removing the Blodd Angel symbols form one of the Sanguinary Guard death masks and using that? This guy is a chapter master and I think it would work quite well with the rest of the armour. Just my 2p ;)

I've looked at the newer SW heads and haven't seen much I liked, even I were to give them a haircut.

The SG death masks are cool, but I don't think it fits this conversion. I do, however, like some of the normal marine helmets from the SG sprues, but the bits store I normally use sells all 5 of them as a lot, for 9 bucks, and I only see one I would use. D'OH!

I did find a bare head from an old vehicle sprue that has a headset with a mic on it, and it didn't look too bad. I'll try to get some pics of that up when I get home for some feedback. Thanks for the suggestions, btw.

*edit* Here's a nice looking one from the Black Templar upgrade box: http://www.thewarstore.com/product68284.html

And cheap, too!

Btw, Bio, took a look at your World Eaters. Good stuff, man! Love the helmet conversions on the berzerkers.

This guy is coming together really well dude! I like the feel to him. Really stern and commanding.

My only gripe would be the scale of the shoulder pads in comparison to the rest of his armour.

Thanks!

And oddly enough, the non-standard shoulder armor is one of the things that attracted me to this figure for the conversion, lol

two epic heads would be the space wolf head with mutton stache (trim the side burns a little bit) or the devastator sergeant head.

Unless it's pups, I don't care for facial hair on marines. The dev sgt head might work... would have to do something about the hair, though

Well, I have several boxes of terminators, and that head must be newer than my kits, because the bare head in mine is yelling.

And here's the termie sgt head I have on the figure, along with a helmeted option. The fit of the helmet isn't great because I would need to trim out more of the fur where the back of the helmet is if I go with it. I have also added a belt and I'm test fitting a hip armor plate.

A little more work on the librarian chest:

It's a bit blurry, but you get the idea. :)

And finally, I've added two more Limited Edition models to my collection:

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x5/Kageboshi/LimEd2.jpghttp://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x5/Kageboshi/LimEd1.jpg

Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Gideon Lorr and the Army Box Dark Angels Company Master!

I just happened to browse Bartertown last week, for the first time in a year or more, and saw an ad with these two guys in it. The seller must have really needed some cash, because I offered a very low price for each, expecting to negotiate up from there, and he took it. Anyway, a soak for a few hours in some acetone to melt away the thick superglue he used on them, then into the Simple Green to strip the paint, and here we are.

There are definitely some rough spots to be smoothed out, especially on the Dark Angel, but hey, that's the norm for metal figures.

I really like the look of your marines, the current conversion especially. I think that the bare head from the Terminator Armored Commander Culln would look fantastic on your chapter master. The FW heads are slightly more in scale in my opinion. On a side mote, if you decide to part with that Dark Angels LTD Edition Figure let me know. I've been searching for that figure at a reasonable price or trade for a little over a year to no avail. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I gotta say, the conversion is coming along better than I expected so far, but I've never had so much trouble deciding on a head. Any helmet I try is looking too big, and while I hadn't considered the Culln head, which I also think would look good, I dunno if I want to spring for the cost of the figure and shipping just for that. I'll check eBay and some of the trading website to see if someone has a spare.

Unfortunately, I generally don't part with my LimEd models, but I understand how you feel about trying to track some down. There's some I've been trying to put my grubby hands to for some time, mainly the Army Box Marine Captain(crested helm, storm bolter with drum mag) and the Eldar Bonesinger and Army Box Autarch.

Nice job on getting the DA guy! I bought the inquisitor on eBay for less than $20 a week ago and was happily surprised that he was in an unopened blister! :)

Wow, nice snag on that. I don't mind if they're out of the blister because 1) they're usually cheaper, and 2) I always want to paint them anyway.
