DavidKits
aye i was very impressed... then again one of those tank kills was basically a lucky kill steal. in all that game i took out a pred. a razorback, 2 rhinos and a land raider... as you can guess the land raider was a kill steal after pumping 2 turns of lascannons into it and only resulting with it immoblised and no weapons :P then.. convently i rolled a 5 and a 4 on 2 glancing hits from the butcher... and to think i was thinking of shooting something else but hey gave me a killpoint *laughs* the other target wouldn't have given me one but oh well. for my 2 ideas they both are based alittle on one another not to much but lets see what you think. a friend told me he really liked one more then the other. i'll mention which. 1. the first one is the one me and a friend though would be the coolest but no bout the harder one of the two. the base for that one was to take the normal Kheres assault cannon arm but snip off the barrels of the gun already present. next using plastic tube made a large bore 4 barreled Gatling gun that kinda resembles a smaller version of the thunderfire cannon but instead of having a full tube case from back to front like the thunderfire have it look a bit more like the old western Gatling gun ... um. *gives a pic* http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/File:Gatling_gun_1865.jpg after doing that see if ya can find or make belt feed coming from the ammo box on he back up and around like on the space wolf assault cannon but instead have the feed look like its full of Kark Missiles. as .. well.. the gun being str 8 ap 4 just made me think of a rapid firing Missile launcher then a Gatling gun. 2. this one seemed a bit easier but required more plastic card. this one i thought of a multi bomb launcher. as it fires 1 shot but as it flies in the shot seperates into 4 while coming in or something but for the most part its based off something forgeworld already did. thats this http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-4000...KANNON-ARM.html a big cannon. rotary barrel of canisters... this version of teh butcher would make me think of the road clearer grenade launcher moderate day military forces use. just got to make it all chaos like. anyway those were the ideas i got hope it helps. jimmimellows
Hi again, Just a little progress update. Ive been busy this week but managed to get a bit of trim etc done on my contemptor. I've nearly finished with the styrene strips but still have to do the insides of the lower legs and a few other bits, then i have to fill gaps with greenstuff and add rivets and spikes, plus some FW brass etch. I still have a lot to do just on the armour trim alone, but im glad ive moved on a bit. Although my terrible pics dont show it that well, ive just added some teeth around the bottom of the torso and im pretty pleased with how it matches my FW termi's. Ive also started to sculpt the WE symbol on his left shoulder, the planet is done but i have to add some teeth yet! Im also pretty pleased with my plasma ball coming from the plasma blaster. I basically built it up with superglue. The trick is to glob the glue on in places, let the top skin over, then use a scalpel blade to pull the thickened glue around a little. Tedious but worth it i think. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0349.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0348.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0347.jpg Also, I added a few badly lit photos of my latest finished termi, and of the blood drips i added to the heralds sword and victim. I'll have to rig up a lightbox soon as its just so dark here at this time of year! http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0342.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0337.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0336.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0339.jpg Comments and thoughts are more than welcome, cheers, oh nearly forgot....... @Davidkits - Thats not a bad little haul in one game, a dead land raider is a good land raider in my book (unless its mine) :woot: I like those ideas for the butchercannon, the first sounds sweet but i like the missle idea. Never really noticed that big ork arm before but its a really helpful link, definately got some thoughts popping into my head now. Nice link to the gatling gun too, thanks. I may end up purchasing the kheres pattern arm and do some chopping and adding of styrene tube to see what i can knock up. I'll add photos as I do stuff. Really appreciate the input and sharing of some sweet ideas, thanks bro. *EDIT* Only just realised that this may be an issue after posting pics of my herald for the last 2 months. As this is a power armour forum, have i been infringing the forum rules by posting pics of my daemons, despite them being in a power armoured army?? Brother Ambroz
Gorgeous jimmi. That's all I can say about these guys. I can't wait to see that contemptor painted. Once you finish yours I might be able to get some ideas for my contemptor (which I'm not really sure how to make it chaotic yet.....). DavidKits
I do think the Harald is ok my friend, as there seems to be a Chaos Deamons section of the forum lately and hey with you posting this long to suddenly have your post closed would be... kinda weird. as for the lines no trouble at all, I'm glad they helped and my ideas. as i said when i first read up on the Butcher cannon those 2 ideas just.. came to me *shrugs* i look forward to seeing what you do. *chuckles* and if it turns out really great i may bug ya and ass if you can send me one *giggles* so i can try to add it to a contemptor of my own *laughs* though i have a feeling the chaos ones may not be worked on till at least the next Imperial Armoury... speaking that i heard forgeworld said at a games day the next one would be Tzeentch Marines vs penal legion guard and Minotaurs Space marines or something like that. as for the kills with my test run of the butcher. ya i feel i was a bit lucky... each shot was at a random armour facing... like rhinos in the front pred in the side... wait... i think i got one of the rhinoes in the back.. 8taps my chin* bah oh well :tu: still look forward to seeing what you do next. DavidKits
p.s. if you can try to figure out how to make a Soul Burner for one of you power claws *winks* trust me its AMAZING i love it 24 inch range, small blast template, str 5 ap 5 Heavy 1 Rending, no cover saves :tu: amazing little 'built in' weapon for a dreadnought close combat weapon. jimmimellows
Hi all, Its update time again, and this time i've actually made significant progress. the contemptor sculpting phase is done so i'll be basecoating tonight. Im really really chuffed with how this model came out in the end, well worth the tedious sculpting. Main differences from last images are fully finished styrene trim, blended into existing armour with greenstuff. Ive scratch built the WE logos onto opposite arm and legs panels and sculpted them to match the ones on FW termi shoulder pads. I think its worked well transfering the design from a curbed pad onto an angular one. It was hard to get the teeth in the logo symetrical and took AGES. I spent all of yesterday adding rivits to all the trim. This was achieved by using 0.5mm and 1mm micro beads. You basically use a corresponding drill to put holes in the trim then glue in the beads with superglue. Its an easy technique but very fiddly to actually hold the beads. Base coat tonight then im on with the red. Along with painting this, and my half complete 3rd termi, i'll be scratchbuilding a butcher cannon! Anyway, pics here, http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0350.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0357.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0351.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0356.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0354.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0358.jpg Comments welcome as always, Cheers, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231669-jimmis-worldeaters-wip/page/5/#findComment-2986540 Share on other sites

NightHunters
He is great, super attention to detail and excellent feeling of movement! But, and this really is a minor taste thing, especially as I know why you mounted them the way you did, but, the Chain Blade fingers, did they look really silly the other way around with the full chain bit on the inside? Don't get me wrong, still love it just it's the kind of thing that would annoy me.... Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing the Butcher Cannon! jimmimellows
Thanks for the positive comments guys, much appreciated. @Night Hunters - I spent a long long time debating which way around to put the chain fingers and both havemerits and flaws. I posted a link to the FW conversion a few pages back which demonstrates how it looks with fingers the other way around. In theory, they have it the "correct" way so that when the fist is closed around an object it gets chopped up but it just seems to look wrong. Also, it would render the fist incapable of gripping anything (although i suppose in a WE army, they dont do much except chopping and killing ). The way i justify it is that the fist works the opposite way. The fingers are unbladed on the inside edge allowing the dreadnought to grip objects, if he wants to use the fist destructively he plunges it into the target then opens his fingers outwards, exploding the unfortunate target from within! I spent a few hours last night using a scalpel to scratch and pick some battle damage into the dreadnought, as would be expected after 10,000 years of battle. I also got a black basecoat on last night to show up any flaws and barring a few scrapes with the scalpel, its ready for a red coat. Im debating how to do the NMM for the "gubbins" of the dreadnought as i'm only doing the gold to logos and trims. If anyone knows of a nice tutorial for painting 10,000 year old grey/black NMM the please point me to it! Pics of the next stage upcoming once i get it done. thanks, Jimmi Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231669-jimmis-worldeaters-wip/page/5/#findComment-2987353 Share on other sites

NightHunters
Had a look at the FW linky and yes as I thought and you confirmed they do look really silly the other way around, so good job there and really nice mental image, exploding bodies from within indeed! jimmimellows
Sorry, no update photos as its too grim in yorkshire to get a good enough photo, im on to the red stage now though. Just taking the opportunity to reply to people who have left comments. @ Davidkits - Not started the conversion yet as ive been pondering on the details. Im probably going to draw it up in AutoCAD or similar before i build so ill post the drawing when i get onto it. The option that im swaying towards at the minutre is a hybrid of what we discussed, with a little twist. Im still planning on 4 barrels, however arranged as a pair of reaper autocannons side by side. I'll have an ammo hopper mounted to the back of the arm as a counterweight with 4 ammo feeds spiralling around the arm and into each gun stock. I basically now need to find 4 plastic spacemarine devastator heavy bolter ammo feeds as they match what i have envisaged pretty well, unless anyone knows of a cheaper and easier alternative. @Darksensei - The studs are "micro beads" used in fimo style crafts. I used a mixture of 1mm and 0.5mm, although the 0.5mm ones are actually more like 0.25mm, meaning it gets a bit fiddly drilling and glueing them neatly. I got mine from this nice lady on ebay - tulip beads she seems to do a mix of sizes and colours. jimmimellows
Afternoon all, Quick update as ive not been on here for a week or so. Im pushing on pretty well with the dreadnought now, im on to the gold stage which may take a while. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0364.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0368.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0366.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0365.jpg Please ignore the fact he is on the lean and his plasma is aimed at the ground, he's only loosely attached to the base for painting purposes. Ive also been busy assembling my Diemos rhino. I got a bit carried away adding WE logos eveywhere. I just need to add a khorne icon to the top hatches. The logos need landmasses adding to the world bit of the logo but they are pretty much done. I basically cheated and used our laser cutter at work to layer up the design in 0.5 mm acrylic. I added rivets afterwards. I got a bit excitable on the lasercutter and decided to make a "choppy" doser blade. There are about 60 peices in the saw blade assembly and i made it magnetic for removability. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0375.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0372.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0370.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i388/jimmimellows/DSC_0371.jpg Hope you like, cheers, Jimmi Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231669-jimmis-worldeaters-wip/page/5/#findComment-2996735 Share on other sites

Zhoolda
The gold and the red look sooo good together! And the contemptor makes me whant to buy one NOW. jimmimellows
Thanks for all the comments guys. In answer to a couple of specific questions... @Irwit - I did a tutorial (without pics :) ) on page 4 i think. It covers snow and melting snow effects. Hopefully get a proper one with pics done at some point. @Nighthunters - im begining to regret NMM as it takes AGES but im not sure i want a NMM squad of termi's and metallics on everything else. It looks nice but a full armies worth is a bit daunting now! I couldnt resist the logo on the doors of the rhino, i think i'll use them on my others eventually as they only take a couple of mins in the machine. Glueing the rivets on is another matter! @Zhoolda - The contemptor is the best kit ive ever built, i highly recommend it. It's fully posable and other than the eagle on the torso, its a perfect blank canvas if you like plasticard and greenstuff. I say do it. Regarding the damage/weathering, i did it as a test to be honest, after seeing the effect done really well by a few people lately. I'm pretty pleased so i think i'll go back to my "finished" models and add a few scratches etc. Its in the same category as NMM regarding wether to do everything the same or just switch to metallics from now on! Thanks guys, Jimmi Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231669-jimmis-worldeaters-wip/page/5/#findComment-2999258 Share on other sites
