The Defiler stars on the Land Raider are a REALLY nice touch. Dig the treads, of course - I'd never heard of the freezer trick, I can think of so many times that would've been useful. The more you know. :P

 

Varrus looks great, the reverse chainsword is neat. I quite like that helmet, even if it is a placeholder. The brow-trim just makes him look superbly ANGRY.

Thanks buddy, that helmet will probably be staying but Im looking at swapping out the lower part ;)

 

Worked on the objective marker/shrine as well tonight but my superglue decided to behave a little strange which meant I had glued my fingers to everything desk,jeans,other fingers and face (a new low for me :()  I got there eventually though an heres the results of what was waaay to long spent unsticking things lol

The second Dread is looking great Bio! Are you going to highlight the plasma coils any further? I recon they'd benefit from a couple more highlights.

 

I haven't posted on the B&C for about a month but I come back now and again to check your thread for updates. its always a great source of inspiration. Can't wait to see more :)

Thanks guys, i appreciate it as Im not 100% happy with the build. Id kinda rushed it and now Im adding paint its really obvious to me at least. Still onwards...

 

Kizzdougs, I often have a look through your blog as well for the exact same reason so I really appreciate your comments. :tu: The plasma coils will indeed be getting a couple more highlight passes as will the red and brass areas. I reckon hes approx 70% done at the moment.

Im calling my Vow done. Its not the standard I really want but Im running out of time as I have to pack my flat up and work before moving next week. I will revisit him and sort out a couple of touch ups in the future.

 

I wanted him to have a more ancient look than Krueger the Undying hence the reason he has more brass and is a slightly darker red.

A cloying red mist descends upon the battlefield and a figure can be half seen stalking through the fog, with a snarl of rage and the roar of a chain blade Varrus Kin Slayer makes his reappearance dragging this thread back from the Blood Gods grasp.

 

Been a hectic few weeks so not really had a chance to work on much hobby stuff. The Star Phantoms have a new recruit in progress but that's a story for another thread.

 

I have a couple of alternate heads for Varrus I'd like some opinions on,

 

The first is a head my friend Krautscientist sent me using a CSM Champ and a Crusher headdress.

This is a rough of the original idea I had for the head. I may pick up another Skull Crusher head and perhaps combine the two. I think it could make a rather convincing Khârn like head.

Have to say I like head 1, different yet still recognisable, although the FW helmets are hard to beat....

Haha, I was wondering what the blue tack was.

The helmet conversion looks great. The Skullcrusher helmet 'ears' are a lot better than the regular Berzerker bits.

Second one for me mate  you know I would actually think about adding a bionic eye of some sort, it would make it look further different from the original head.

 

Love the pose on him, either way!
