Barry Murray
Indeed you do haha.I remember having two kubrik figures of the SAFs a few years ago but i misplaced them. I like the look of the SAFs very much. It's a great looking suit. And fairly "realistic" as far as powered armour goes. My Misc Ma.K gallery is here, but i made a suit of my own recently(I used SAFS arms and legs just to save time): http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/MaK%20Misc/IMG_1594.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/MaK%20Misc/IMG_1600.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/MaK%20Misc/IMG_1610.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/MaK%20Misc/IMG_1615.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/MaK%20Misc/IMG_1617.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/MaK%20Misc/IMG_1619.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234728-scratchbuilt-arvus-lighter-projectin-a-slightly-larger-scal/page/3/#findComment-2827478 Share on other sites

Looked at your photobucket link, you got some pretty dang incredible stuff going on there! Don't know what you do for a living matey, but it sure does pay well :P , you gotta a hell of a lot of nice model kits to keep you occupied for life haha! You won the euromillions ;) ? Barry Murray
Oh the suit, sorry. The arvus looks great. Thanks. The suit was supposed to be from the Ma.K world, not warhammer. I meant it as a civilian or Police-issue suit, not for all out war. I was going to do a diorama of maybe three of them at a crime scene. I still might. I thank you for sharing your excellent work with us and curse you for making me obsess over the MA.K stuff. Lol. Thanks. Ma.K is addictive for a modeller, as it's ll about weathering and detail. As model makers progress through the hobby, it's a natural progression to eventually make it to Ma.K Am very impressed with your thread Barry, talk about time, care & craftsmanship!!!! Following this thread with great interest, especially looking forward to seeing the Thunderbolt :D Thanks. This weekend has been slow because i have been otherwise busy. Also, i went a bought a new mountain bike yesterday. When i got it home, i set it all up, made sure it was all tight and started riding around in a circle on the driveway checking that the gears were engaging correctly. I couldn't get third gear on the main sprocket, and while i was riding around(Steering with one hand and fiddling with the gear selector adjuster with the other), somone passing my driveway honked their car horn, and i fell off the bike... It must have been a funny sight to see. Even i saw the funny side of it after i got all the bleeding stopped and dressed my wounds, lol. :) With any luck, i shall be able to get more done on the Arvus today at work. Barry Murray
what can i say?!?!?!?! i know perfection when i see it. quite simply outstanding! you make my stuff look quite amateurish Don't think like that. If my stuff seems better than yours, it's merely that you haven't thought along the same lines as i have. If i can help anyone out with tips on directions to go, or with techniques to use, then that makes the build worthwhile to me. These are not some arcane skills that i will only pass along to my apprentice. Anyone can have them. lolz, but seriously man if this is your first big WIP thread in a year where will you be? the sky is truly the limit. good luck and make every second count. Thanks. This is my first WIP thread HERE, but far from my first thread, lol. I actually just float back and forth from project to project as my fancy takes me. When this one is done, i have a hankering to make one i have always liked. It's a semi-realistic VTOL craft i saw on SciFiMeshes a while back. I have posted pics below. It's nothing to do with Warhammer of course. Just the direction i feel like going in. The creator has sent me the mesh(And i COULD get it 3d printed), but i feel like scratching it myself just for the fun of it. ill be checking back from time to time to keep an eagle eye on your special projects and manufacturing division lolz anyways keep pushing on and have a fun week. Sure thing. Thanks again. Work has been hectic this week so far. And as a result, i haven't done anything on the Arvus since friday. Here are pics of the VTOL(I am going to see what the largest size of computer cooling fan is that i can lay my hands on...): http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Misc%20junk/vtol22.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Misc%20junk/VTOL13.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234728-scratchbuilt-arvus-lighter-projectin-a-slightly-larger-scal/page/3/#findComment-2830399 Share on other sites

maverike_prime
Nice. But can ya do a 1/20 scale Titan? I probably could. But i'd need a lot of room to store it i expect. Has a point of pure curiosity, considering that a Forge World Reaver stands 16"(~40.6cm) tall at a roughly 1/32 scale, how tall would a 1/20 scale Reaver be? Anyway, 250mm Computer Case fan. Think this would do it? Well, as i reckon the craft would be no larger than 32cm long, i think perhas an 80mm or 120mm fan would suffice. Thanks for the link though. Nice cheap fans there. A small switch hidden under the rear and a 9V battery would be enough to set those fans a-spinning... Nice one Baz, loving the strip club flyer  The power armour is cool aswell. Lol. The strip club flyer. Thanks for that. I will try and get noseart made up that says that... ;) Nice. Has a point of pure curiosity, considering that a Forge World Reaver stands 16"(~40.6cm) tall at a roughly 1/32 scale, how tall would a 1/20 scale Reaver be? About 65cm. Not too big. If you think it may be of use, here is a link to a scale calc program. It can convert from scale to scale(If you want to convert 1/32 to 1/20 for example), and can also work out a scale(If you have the size of a full scale car, for instance, and the length of the model, it can work out the scale of the model, etc), or if you know the scale, and the size of the model, it can tell you how large the "actual" item would be in 1/1, so it's a handy tool to have sitting on your desktop. Barry Murray
Thanks a lot. I have been working on the engine cone today. I managed to find a kit which had the right profile, and chopped a bit off to be used as the piece(It's the part that says: "USA", on the bottom). I am moulding it right now and it will be ready on friday for me to make a couple of copies. Barry Murray
Okay. I got the engine cone master made and cast, and got the torch seated in there. I only cast one today(The other was setting up in the mold while i took the pics of the first one all lit up), but it looks a million bucks. Barry Murray
Okay. Not a huge update. Got up to work this morning and it was cloudy and, after an hour of pottering about, the sun came out, so i went home and got my pushbike and went out for a run to enjoy the sunshine... But, while i WAS there, i got the second thruster cone hollowed out and primed, plus i was able to clean my workbench...(It was dusty, lol...). Anyway, just one pic. The engines turned on and the camera dazzled... Chapter Master Ignis Domus
The light! It burns! You need to get it to fly somehow. Preferably without chucking it off something tall. Barry Murray
Very cool, as with the bay lights these burner lights give it that extra touch. Yes. I too was very glad when they turned out as nice as they did. I will be detailing the engines today at work. The light! It burns! You need to get it to fly somehow. Preferably without chucking it off something tall. Hmmmm. I can't think of how i would do that, short of making a full scale one that actually flies... :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234728-scratchbuilt-arvus-lighter-projectin-a-slightly-larger-scal/page/3/#findComment-2835030 Share on other sites
Barry Murray
I got a little bit done on the Arvus today. I expect it will be well recieved. I certainly enjoyed doing the work anyway! I did a few lighting tests of the nav light rig. Pics and vids of that. I'd appreciate comments on how good that looks... I realised a bit late in the game that the engines being totally hollow could be handy to stash the lighting rigs in, so i made a new set(Again...). These were skinned in styrene and the engine cones were gven location pegs. the torches are now well seated in the engine tips. I also made the VTOL shoulders under the wings and blutacked on the lift fans to see what they looked like. Feel free to be as verbose as you like. Here are the pics. Enjoy. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3029.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3031.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3034.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3040.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3041.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3042.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3044.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3045.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3046.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3047.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234728-scratchbuilt-arvus-lighter-projectin-a-slightly-larger-scal/page/3/#findComment-2835587 Share on other sites
Barry Murray
Okay. Got a bit of progress done in the last few days. But i forgot to update here because nobody else posted, lol... I got the internal bulkheads done and drilled and attached them to the floor. I made new exhaust covers to "cover up" the fact the exhausts are just torches from Poundland... Took some funny pictures of Halo and Marvel characters gabbing at the rear of the ship. I also did some lighting tests on the pilot's displays. They have mucho brightness now. I think they will look great when it's finished. I added "glass" to the front canopy frame. And i have detailed the engines finally. Just before i left work, i sprayed everything grey, so it will all look a lot better tomorrow. Till then, enjoy these pics. Somone please post, even if it's just to tell me it's rubbish, lol, or to express an opinion on what it is lacking. If i get a topic reply notification, i am more likely to remember to update... :) Enjoy the pics! http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3048.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3049.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3050.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3052.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3053.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3054.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3055.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3056.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3057.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3060.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3063.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3067.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3068.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3070.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3073.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3074.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3075.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3078.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3079.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3080.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3088.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3089.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_3091.jpg More pics in the next post.
