Midas
I think you should do a maximus or errant mark Spacemarine. ephrael
I have a question that is off topic a bit and not really related to power armor as it is accepted on these forums. I have a question about a Ma.K design I saw on the web. Would it be all right to pm you about the armor style and where to obtain a kit of it? Barry Murray
This is amazing. A real treat to watch. It looks so professional. Amazing. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate that. I just build what i enjoy building. It's great when everyone else enjoys it too. You might also find this useful: http://www.philipsibbering.com/wh40k/10-00...ine-index.shtml Especially the Morphology concepts. It's fan fiction, but I think it could help you a lot with the scale or your Marine figure. Thanks. Although i am sure it is accepted that the space marines are supposed to look like the Hulk in there, i'd prefer to imagine they look like fairly normal people(Career soldiers, so stornger, fitter, faster, etc), but not that scaled up dude in the images of the morphology page. I will scale my Marine up to perhaps 10cm high in 1/20. But he will have a similarly scaled head to the figures around him. I will go for the Ma.K approach. I just prefer to think he's just a weightlifter in a super advanced suit of armour. Like in the starcraft 2 intro. At least, my guys will be normal. Just a personal decision. I will not be able to even think about sculpting a new space marine master pattern till the Arvus is done. More later guys. After all their implantations and modifications the Space Marines are massively muscled although probably not overly sculpted, the muscle would be more slab like. Looking forward to your next update, seriously amazing thread brother. I just prefer to imagine the space marines looking like normal guys under there(Makes the armour seem more special in my mind if it doesn't take the Hulk to operate it, lol). :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234728-scratchbuilt-arvus-lighter-projectin-a-slightly-larger-scal/page/5/#findComment-2843599 Share on other sites
Pulse
Thanks. I am not trying to offend anyone's sensibilities. I just prefer to imagine the space marines looking like normal guys under there(Makes the armour seem more special in my mind if it doesn't take the Hulk to operate it, lol). ;) Space Marine armour is powered (the power plant being the backpack), the extra power boosts the Space Marines strength hugely to god like levels. If the power dies, the suit goes limp and because of that the Space Marines need to be massively muscled to be able to operate effectively with the added weight. Plus the fact their bodies need to take massive punishment. Different sorts of powered armour are worn by different people, for example unaltered humans can wear a suiit, but it would be much more lightweight and slimmed down. No worries though mate, everyone has their own views on 40k! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234728-scratchbuilt-arvus-lighter-projectin-a-slightly-larger-scal/page/5/#findComment-2843654 Share on other sites

Barry Murray
Okay guys. Got a bit done today. I stripped the Arvus again, and removed the lighting circuits. I needed to add about 12cm of cable to the dashboard light(It was a bit of a tight fit, which was one of the reasons for the test fitting. To make sure it all fit in). With that done, i dremelled out a couple of holes in the rear VTOL shoulders and added in the switches for the lighting(Shouldn't be all that conspicuous when they are painted, but it will make it simple to turn on and off the seperate lighting systems. I don't actually care if people can see them, lol. Then i scribed the rear hatch topside(I was going to add the ridged effect like the original, but i think the scribed lines look better. Lower key. Not too large. Anyway, i gave the ship two coats of black paint all over and then the interior green colour. The exterior is mostly done. Just a few details to be finished off then i can get that basecoated too. I think the interior colour looks good. Hats off to Chris for telling me about the colour. Thanks Chris! Shouldn't be too long till it's all done. Here is today's progress: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4047.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4048.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4049.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4050.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4051.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4052.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4053.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4054.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4056.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g19/All_the_good_usernames_are_taken/Arvus%20Lighter%20Build/IMG_4057.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/234728-scratchbuilt-arvus-lighter-projectin-a-slightly-larger-scal/page/5/#findComment-2844600 Share on other sites
Olis
Paint! Tsuro
I'd like to start by saying you've been going great guns on this project and it's looking fantastic. Also, you're on the right track with the Space Marine.... provided you want him to look like am enormous, genetically engineered super-soldier. If you're intent on making him a "normal guy in a suit" however, I fear you've made a number of fundamental mistakes. Wearing the armour does nothing to alter the body and skeleton of the person wearing it, it can't widen his shoulders or increase the length of his legs. If you compare the figure of the guy with the armature he's standing next to, his arms would never be able to follow those of the armature, and he'd snap his Femur, Tibia and Fibula in half if the suit made him walk, because none of the joints line up. You've plenty of space in the suit to have him standing on boosters and remote-piloting the hands (as in the starcraft video, although your figure's elbows would be in the suit's shoulders, though that would largely be alright for range of movement), but that should result in an unusually proportioned figure: if it's meant to be his arms and legs in the arms and legs of the suit, certain dimensions have to follow the pilot's - torso length, shoulder width, hip width, distance from shoulder to elbow & hip to knee, otherwise the chap simply couldn't move. And if you do do these things, he won't look like that image you posted. But then that image was never meant to be a normal guy in a powered suit. I'm not trying to be discouraging: Everything else looks fantastic and the marine is shaping up to look pretty great as well. I'm just that if you truly want it to look like the kind of armour that guy could pilot you're going down the wrong road.. Tsuro
I am going for the idea that the guy as seen in the first images next to the armature IS the guy in the suit. MRCHAOS
Yes after re-reading everything Tsuro has said is correct. If you go for the normal guy in the power armour it wont work.
