Clever Girl... - Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge

Ok I sat down at my computer at around 1:30 AM and said "I'll just check B&C before going to sleep. It is now 6:33 AM and I have read probably a good 50-75% of the posts on this thread and studied EVERY piece of art extensively! So let me just say that your skill at drawing makes you good, but what makes you great (and I mean TRULY GREAT) is your understanding of your audience. I didn't count, but there are DOZENS of people that said things like "You are a mindreader" "This is exactly how I pictured this character". You can capture the images we already have in our minds while STILL blowing us away despite the fact that, in our imagination, we looked at that picture a thousand times. PS I am VERY bummed that I missed the quizzes/requests :(

@Retributis: I know =) Can't lie, it feels great to have Sevatar's creator recognize his lil' psycho. Really great.

@Draco: Thank you, mate, I may yet draw a Black Dragon Marine, but not anytime soon.

@Cirrius: That must be one of the most accurate analyses of my work I've ever read. Thank you very much, mate. I see myself more as a miniature designer than an artist (not to say the two aren't mutually compatible), in my drawings I use at least as much Marketing as I do Arts. My goal is to provide 40K fans with the best characters and wargear possible.

Cheers, mates. The wolf is almost ready. And he barks like hell.

Gorodion, the Guillotine, The Isstvan III Atrocity

Sintaur Gorodion, Veteran Sergeant of the Chyamaras Seeker Squad, was [half]jokingly described by his brethren as being "so neurotic he kept his psychosis in check". Among the Luna Wolves, few loved the battlefield so much, and even fewer delighted in the bloodshed with the same pure release the otherwise introvert Cthonian did.

More precisely, Sintaur was an adept of bleeding enemy morale. Upon first taking command of a Devastator squad, he immediately proceeded to apply Horus' strategy of decapitation, quelling the usual lust for sheer body count Devastators evidenced.

Although this option saw him clash multiple times with his superiors, in time the results proved Gorodion undeniably right. Enemy squads and even companies would see their leaders and command squads disappear in a daze of plasma blasts, heavy-bolter rounds and laser-streaks almost as soon as the battle began, with devastating effects on their morale and coordination.

It's no wonder, than, that the adoption of Seeker Squads among the Sons of Horus saw Gorodion as one of its fervent supporters. Although more than half of his squad was still comprosed of heavy-weapon-wielding Devastators, he included some of the best marksmen the Legion had. At Isstvan III, squad Chyamaras would claim more than 80 enemy leaders, between Sergeants, Champions and Captains.

On the eve of that fateful day, Gorodion was the host to a disturbing change...from inside his helm, a single eye in the very image of the Legion's symbol peered with a blazing, ghastly gaze that left unsettled even the most sadistic of his brethren. Many were quick to attribute the feeling to the vision of the legion's eye coupled with the dark nature of the Seeker Sergeant. Others claimed that they were uncomfortable with voluntary cybernetics, since Gorodion had suffered no injured that justified the implantation of a bionic eye.

But those Sons of Horus more privy to the dark side of Horus' rebellion had a deeper, more sinister suspicion regarding Sintaur's change. Some of these warriors, as well as many of the Legion's Apothecaries - who knew full well that no surgery had been performed on Sintaur Gorodion - would soon enough regret being right.

Ooh, so you were ready for a ravenous, axe-wielding, pelt-covered Luna Wolf? Sorry about that, you get a psycho with a cannon. =)

This was some of the most fun I ever had while drawing. I very rarely draw Devastators (or even Tacticals), but love the sense of 'walking gunship' they convey and (I imagine) would feel on the battlefield. Also, he's sort of a 'First Heretic/Mutated' for the Sons of Horus.

Hope you like him, mates. Still unsure about which Legion to do next, but I'll be starting as soon as I can.

Cheers, everyone.

Agh, hnnnnn, gah *cough cough*..... Holy freaking @#2%^!, he is simply amazing. I may have squeed a little bit when I saw him. I will of course deny it in public, but it may have happened....

Cheers! :)

Big big 'Thank you' to each and everyone, mates.

@Olisredan: My characters will forever carry the skulls of children. Think of them as Tau =p

@Kol-Saresk: See above :P

@EPK: "I choose Plasma Cannons at dawn"

@Onyxius: I've already started the next guy. But I promise the sons of Perturabo will come after.

I love the way you draw the cracks and weathering on your armour plates. What do you use, by the way? Pen-wise, I mean. I'm not an artist of anything like comparable calibre, but I'm interested in the technical aspects of people's work.
Hey, Greyall. Been awhile since I have dropped in but I see you have been busy. Not a single bad piece of work in here, man. I'm also impressed with the speed you can churn them out. You have a lot of pieces waiting in the wings, or are you taking requests right now? Keep up the good work. Always awesome to see my favorite hobby brought to life, and always in such stunning detail.

Daddy, there's a man at the door claiming he's the Eightfold path...

"You thought you'd have time to carry out your plan...you assumed, as easily as one does a hound's behaviour, that the brave morsels you set in our path would keep us occupied. Perhaps we would've skinned them, drank their blood. Dance around their pieces...

Listen to me, Ultramarine, and at least in death you might be enlightened:

Our days as bloodhounds of the Emperor are over. No longer do we start blindly for the first prey we're pointed at. No longer do any but our Primarch receive our obeyance.

We are the Eaters of Worlds, whelp, for us first blood comes after the most blood. What matters is that we feast on our terms.. We came for you and, as predictable, you armoured your throat, thinking we'd gnaw and snap at it while you killed us.

Do you think we'll let your Legion get to some sort of safe haven while we eviscerate the stragglers? We'll sweep over you and cut your routes. We'll maim those of you who retreat and kill the ones who try to face us. In the end, you will all burn..."

Khârn, Captain of the World Eaters

----

This wasn't supposed to be Khârn when I started it but at some point I just said to myself ' One day you'll have to have the guts to draw him again'. And so I did. And I'm happy with the result =) I tried to incorporate a bit of Angron's new looks on Khârn's vambraces and leg armour.

PS: This earlier drawing of Khârn served as an inspiration and a challenge.

Next...a monster.

@Lacerus. Not taking requests right now, mate. Actually, I'm taking one, but it's an exception. Other than that, no requests until I've let all the ideas out of my system.
