Clever Girl... - Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge

Don't worry, mate, I put most of that pressure myself =)

Your Steel Wings were one of those "magic touch" submissions. Once I imagined some poor guy taking to the skies in some barely-flying junkplane in search of a break from the polluted cities, only to find, right before he crashes to the ground, that it was all a lie and that he'd left his loved ones for nothing...I was sold.

This way a all-round fun competition. Everyone had really good submissions to their DIY/ Warbands. Congrats to the winners, and congrats to the ones that put braved the chance by submitting their chapters/ warband up for mass media speculation.

Congratulations to SpecialIssueAmmo, DAT and all the runners up. It was a pleasure to read all the different submissions.

Stone Hearts, by Octavulg

I AM A SILVERY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

*Ahem*

Thanks. smile.png It's an honour (and I'm glad you liked them).

Often the inclusion of many disparate elements sounds like a collection of things the author likes but Octavulg has managed to integrate celtic culture, world-management, war and the inexorable running of the Imperium in a seamless way.

Honestly, I was getting really worried the seams would start to show. And I'm glad you liked the economic angle. smile.png

Please do this again, BTW. It was a great opportunity to figure out the visual aspects of the Stone Hearts.

Congrats guys!

A little bummed, naturally, as who doesn't want their favorite homebrew character depicted in Greyall's particularly magnificent style of glory, but then it's helped me realize the background fluff is on the bland side and there's stuff I really need to flesh out or add entirely.

Looking forward to the drawings!

To those who didn't place, remember the personal side of the contest, it would always add up. I prefer characters and Chapters whose story has a twist or a peculiar aspect to them, be it dark, funny, whatever, so that would end up being a decisive factor, seeing as most of the submissions were very well written and thought-out. For reals.

That doesn't mean, however, that every DIY has to beat every other in originality, especially because, if done the wrong way, it can really come out as a neon-coloured parrot who just shouts 'DIFFERENT!'. The Leopards Argent, for example, are a pretty normal bunch, but the fact that they tend to suffer immense defeats and yet still believe in getting up the next morning and doing the right thing makes them pretty special - to me.

Don't change your DIY, mine are a Dinosaur-worshipping group who thought it was a good idea to invite the Emperor's Children to their doorstep for - lol - an honoured duel. It's fanboyism, pure and simple, I remember how Octavulg pointed out numerous mistakes to it. The point of this contest was to present a cool Chapter in a way that would make me want to draw it. Nothing more.

And, again, it was super-hard to choose everything from the 2nd place-down. You were that good. Thank you =)

PS: Oh, and by the way, Nexus, you're not getting away without a reward for this awesome idea. I'll contact you after all the other prizes are done. It, ahm, it may take a while, do be careful crossing roads for the next two months, ok?

I have been "inspired" aka OCD kicked in, to add more flavor to my already fleshed out new chapter since going through all of these sweet DIY.

So,if Greyall would allow I would like some ideas on a name for said chapter.

Key Points: Blood Angel Succesors, DC are the "honored dammed" ie they may be crazy but they are as close to the Primarch as one lone marine will ever get, They have a much lower fall rate to red thirst and black rage than most succesors but for some reason lose almost all emotion over time. When they do fall it is an immediate and savage. They see themselves as holy gaurdians of the imperium but will stop ANYONE who sees the flaw they hide. Will think of a outwardly visable flaw to add the DC marines.

I will stay indoors with my gun and cheese.

Nah, not looking to change it, but it's helped point out areas I seriously need to flesh out :)

(for example: I mention their increased concern for the common citizen but make zero mention of what they actually do about it how they interact with their recruiting worlds, not enough emphasis on the large strength deployments, etc)

Im not going to lie, I'm annoyed I didn't even place. But I still enjoyed the contest, I enjoyed reading about the other Chapters and will wait (im)patiently for another chance to get a pic off Greyall.

The Blood Giants will rise again!

Wait, did I actually win? eek.gif My day has been made :woot:

Specialissueammo got gold? I knew Octavulg would place but I haven't seen much of SIA's work, which I now regret. I'll have to read up on the full IA later. Congratulations, guys, and to everyone else who entered, these mini-IA's were pretty great to read through. And thank you, Greyall, for honouring my (not so) humble Angels, I'm really glad you liked them. I'm not even saying that because of the awesome work you're going to create with them - you're going to make something amazing regardless of which entries you chose - but it's good to see I've done something right :D

Thank you Greyall for the exceedingly generous gesture. I'm glad that you share my passion for the Guardian Eagles and the Adeptus Astartes! I would have been happy if anyone, let alone you, had noticed them amidst some of the more characterful chronicles submitted. Thanks everyone for participating and I saw some awesome ideas that I wish I'd through of!

Regardless, this is what is wonderful about 40k - the ability for fans to get involved in a shared universe that both sets up a evocative stage, but allows us the freedom to involve our own original creativity and ideas and share it seamlessly (ok, almost seamlessly, and using staples, if you've ever been to the Liber sweat.gif ).

Anyways, I'm kinda conflicted on how I should structure my request, so Greyall should have dandy of a decision picking what he should do...pirate.gif
