GhostMalone
Depends on the rest of the sculpt but this so far is amazing ;) Is it the blood gorgon from the Henry zou novella? Brother Melice
The design is will be loosely based on the cover of the novel, but I have no intention of doing just it. I'll be using the basic idea of the armour, with personal interpretations. But I did add a small blood drop jem on the left of the helmet)))) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240522-visions-of-the-melice/page/6/#findComment-3649278 Share on other sites

Brother Melice
Moving on with the work on the project, got the finished pieces of the kit primed to see any mistakes, I've noted a few and hopefully will be able to get them straightened out, time willing of course. http://cs617224.vk.me/v617224120/6717/CPa35D4e-jA.jpg http://cs617224.vk.me/v617224120/670d/o-vZD3wB0yI.jpg http://cs617224.vk.me/v617224120/6703/oOUVPc1DUSI.jpg http://cs617224.vk.me/v617224120/66f9/b8j-FTxW5kE.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240522-visions-of-the-melice/page/6/#findComment-3665351 Share on other sites
Brother Melice
Hello my friends! I've got a couple of news I'd like to share with you Brothers....First and most important of them being, on April 30th, circa 2nd Millennium, i was graced with a beautiful baby girl!!! It has been quite a wait, and finally it has come to be! I've finally finished the kit!!! Unfortunately it has been sent off to the client already, and I don't have pics of the whole thing put together to show you, I was promised a couple of stills when its assembled and painted!!!I'm really excited to see how it all came together, all in all it was my first sculpting experience.I am happy to announce, that it will not be my last! The client wanted to push the envelope further, so we are developing our next project, Bjorn the Felllhanded!!! Now, I have done an art piece of Bjorn a while back, so it will be an interesting job for me, developing the character further. But I will need help and input from this great crowd. Mostly, I can;t find any concrete reference material or any fluff on Bjorn, such as what armour was he sporting during the Heresy, what weapons he used. A hew suggestions from Dan Abnett's "Prospero Burns" that he weilded an axe, but nothing past that. In the first incarnations of Bjorn, he is presented using a single Lightning claw and a plasma pistol. So if any of you can help me out, please do.I do have a concept to show of him, but remember, that this is just the start, the concept will evolve, as I have a more in depth material to use. so this is what I have right now. http://cs618618.vk.me/v618618120/3c3b/uCs0mVbyNEQ.jpg Enjoy!!! GrandMagnus
If I recall correctly Bjorn use a Lightning claw/wolf claw. But other than that I dont know much. Brother Melice
Yeah, it' the first rendition of Bjorn, back in the 2nd ed when he was introduced as a character.... but my question is about his pre heresy/ heresy days. Contacting Dan Abnett is another thing I'm considering at this point...but keep those comments coming Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240522-visions-of-the-melice/page/6/#findComment-3686702 Share on other sites
Stormborn
During Prospero Burns Bjorn uses a war axe, his left hand is cut off toward the end of the book. When next we see him in Scars he has a stump that is in the process of being fitted with a cybernetic hand. I'm assuming at some point he starts to wield a red bladed Wolf/Lightning Claw on his left arm as this is the weapon featured on his back banner as a dreadnought from when GW originally released him, his other weapon appears to be a bolter. Bjorn normally appears withour a helmet and has reddish/brown hair and beard which are worn long, loose and wild. Personally I think the helmet you've done looks wrong on a Space Wolf a bit to knightly and enclosing for warriors that rely on their enhanced senses and the plume sreams luna wolf to me. I'd say a plainer helmet maybe with a gold or bronze nasal guard and some fancy check guards might be a bit more space viking but no horns they are a modern touch as fars as I can tell and would be fairly dnagerous to the wearer in combat. The other thing is that the current shade of grey seems very light and space wolves of the HH were more slate grey from what I can remember from the 13th Co. from the Eye of Terror campaign. Sorry if I'm coming across as overly critical, the thing about 40K is you do what you want or what your client wants. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished Bjorn. Brother Melice
That's actually perfect brother, thank you for putting it all into perspective for me. The armor color should be disregarded completely for now. As I said, its a WIP, besides, i've made it light for my ease to pick out details. The plum is a Horus Heresy attribute to me, so that's why it's there. But you do have a point about it being too Sons of Horus. Now the helmet thing, that's a dilemma, as the client wants a distinctive MKIII look to this project. Maybe I'll be able to sway him away from that. We'll see. I am toying with the idea of giving him a war axe and a Volkite Serpenta though, that will add a lot of Heresy flavor to the kit in my opinion. Again, thank you for the info, its been a lot of help brother. I'll announce when work begins! Stormborn
Might be of use Bjorn from Visions of Heresy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240522-visions-of-the-melice/page/6/#findComment-3698260 Share on other sites
Brother Melice
Tell you the truth, I don't really like that rendition of Bjorn, just does not do it for me... but I will incorporate a couple of the decor motifs into my design for recognition of the character. But, I've got another concept done, my favorite character in the Horus Heresy series, Nathaniel Garro, Battle Captain of the Death Guard Legion, 7th Great Company. Brother-Chaplain Kage
My response to your Garro pic was eaten in the data loom crash, but let me say again that I really like the look of the armor, especially the Cataphractii influence on the legs. I'd love to see this sculpted. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240522-visions-of-the-melice/page/6/#findComment-3698691 Share on other sites
Tyrannicide
As BCK said, the banding on the legs and eagle motifs are perfect. If FW based a model off your concept I'd buy it without second thought. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/240522-visions-of-the-melice/page/6/#findComment-3698855 Share on other sites
Brother Melice
Thanks brothers, If Forgeworld does not base a model for Nathaniel Garro off of my Concept, I'll just have to sculpt it myself. but this one will be a challenge for me, to do in 1:6th scale... GrandMagnus
Just like I would imagine Garro (although with a more two-handed sword). Nice, I too must say I like the cataphractii influence on the legs.
