The Dreadnoughts and Scions of Chaos look awesome. 

I will merely point out that future Chaos Guard can be vowed for Chaos in the ETL under either the FW Vraks rules or the FW Tyrant's Legion rules.

I do love the scions - from the moment I first saw them I thought they looked like awesome chaos models, and seeing them here really cements that. I'm planning on starting a renegade detachment when IA3 comes out, and have my fingers crossed that they'll have some carapace armored unit that I can use the scions for.

Thanks.  I'll be useing the classic Metal Chaos Dreadnought this Thursday in a 2000pt game send off to 6th ed Warhammer 40,000 where I will also be useing my Forge World IW Dreadnought.

I've been useing the FW IW Dreadnought in a few games recently & he done really well.  From slaughter a unit of Mega Armour Orks, slaughter a tau HQ & bdyguards & then Thursday last week was one of the few models left with a lone Obliterators & few Rhinos against Orks who just had Warboss & small amount of Ork Biker bodyguards left in a really tactical game in Big Guns never tire.

 

Looking forward to getting the classic metal Chaos Dreadnought back onto the battle field as it been to long.  As said he's been part of the army since 2001 when I started the IWs for Conflict Scotland 2002.

For the Chaos Guards, I'm just useing the standard Guard codex & give them the Carapace Armour upgread to show them as the more heavy armour elite on that side of my army.  Bit like the Combin in the Half Life computer game.

I spent some time today converting up a test model for a new Havoc unit.  Pretty much I've been reading through the third Heresy book by Forge World & one of the units is Havocs, a elite fourm of heavy support squad well know for there markmen skills.

Also another part of this is base on a old concept art work that was around the fourm in 2004? which shown a Devastators with a Assault Cannon & servo skull, the concept drawing play a big part on idea toward my Iron Warriors

I will be painting the Havoc on Wed.  I want to try get the unit ready for the 7th June, my wargaming club is holding a gaming day as it been ten year that it been running.  I've been going to the Stirling wargamer club since 2007 after going to our tournament Rapid Fire in 2006 & just looking for more oppents to game against.

Right now I am still in talk with my friend about a 7000pt with my Iron Warriors with Cypher & a unit of Fallen Angels against there Tau with Dark Angels ally.  Though be nice get this new Havoc unit ready for this game.

 

I will also need to look into converting a Power Armour Chaos Lord for my Iron Warriors for smaller point games as there been a few 650pts to 750pts games going on as a send off to 6th ed just allow people get as many games as they want.

Also I've been re-reading the Bloodquest comic Games Workshop use to sell & this Chaos Marines always been one of my favrout art work in the comic

It'll also allow me to theme the model on a Champion that use to be part of It'll also allow me to theme him on another old Champion in Warsmith Abhorred Riddick unit of Chosen Bodyguards along with Narach Delau back in 2001 when I started the Iron Warriors.

I found the Champion model recently while still unpacking boxies since moving house last year.

 

This photo was taken a few days ago shown the 20 plastic Storm Trooper for my Chaos Guard army.  I'm almost finish painting the second unit, just few things like painting the cable for the Melta guns & adding blood effect to the ground & close combat weapon.

I'm also suprise how fast it was to paint the first memeber of the Iron Havoc unit, think it was two hour to paint the model from start to finish. 

 

I've pick up a box of Chaos Marines yesterday & I think I may seen some Terminators assault cannon arm so hopeful have a few more memebers converted during this weekend & ready to paint next week.  I'm aim to get the unit ready for the 7th June for my gaming club all Saturday to mark ten year of the club running.

I think Assault cannons-as autocannons and vindi dragon conversion was 1 of your best out there!

what is fluffy as many mech, troops?  dont know too much about the culture i know they love mech. bionics, and masters of siege warfare,

 

I think playing them as plague marines isnt fluffy to show the IRON defence of tougness and grenades etc... of an Iron warrior? (count as? )

I've pretty much been reading the third FW heresy book none stop since getting my copy.  Just lot of idea & lot of great art work in the book.

Just to point - Black Templars are also one of my favrout armies along with the Iron Warriors :D  It was just more, back then I was unsure on how to paint yellow but one my friends shown me a really great way of painting them which I done for the strip & now future Imperial Fist trophies after my brilliant game against Dave during last year Throne of Skulls September.  Also back then it was also down to thinking the Imperial Fist/yellow Marine might draw to much attesion away due to it being a bold colour.  So went with Templars just for that contrast & they are still the Son's of Dorn :D

I do have plans for starting a brand new Templar army as it been to long & I've got the limited ed Emperor Champion waiting to be paint strip & re-painted, he one of the main reason for me starting Black Templars & also the research into the Knight Templar order in our own history.
Last time I use my Templars was back 2005, but like the IW has always been a big part of my hobby life.  It just been more down to time & even trying to find a few moment to write up a army list before I start collecting my new Templars force & just plan conversions.

It up to you that the end of the day on how you want your army & what role you want each unit to do. 

 

Storm of Iron we see mix of troops & mech warfare & same with Angels Exterminatius.  I just preffer using Tank heavy armies when gaming as I'm not all that keen on using Hoard armies, I find static gun line armies a bit boring to game with & I hate using/play against armies where the person hide all game/doing nothing until the last turn.  I think the only none mech army list I'd have for my iron Warriors would ether be my Unbound Terminators force which I'll be working on soon once I've got my copy of the 7th ed rule book & had a good read.

 

It just all down to how you enjoy the hobby & how you want your gaming to game.

Remember it is your hobby.  I was thinking converting up the Heresy era Destroyer units & having them "count as" Death Guard or as normal Chaos Marines to add that sub theme & because I like the models.

In Storm of Iron, you do have a company led by Kroeger who are going down the path of Khorne.  The Night Lords novels also show us how some member in a warband/legion can be effected with Vandred becoming a Daemon Prince of tezentch (sp?) if I rememeber rightly?  Cyrion with Slannesh? & Uzas with Khorne.

I know someone who added Khorne Bezerker to there Night Lords & had there hands painted in the blood red for the sinner mark after being inspired by that part with Uzas in the Night Lord Blood Reaver novel.

 

If I see some cool models I'll add them to my army & think of a background reason why there in my army & the unit theme as I like to sub theme my units which led to there own history & conversion :D 

As said there if I done a Death Guard unit, I'd theme them around the Heresy era Destroyer unit.  I added the current plastic Raptors just because they where great models & same with the Biker due to seen Brother Heinrich great conversion for his Night Lords army :D
I've also got the Forge World Noise Marines, they'll not be painted in IW colours, but I will get them painted up just to have & because they are nice models.

 

I know Incinerator950 has came up with some great stuff for a Iron Warriors Warband that going down the path of nurgle, check out some of his post as well :D

- For the blood, I use to use Red Gore & chestnut ink (old Games Workshop paints) & gloss varnish.  But I now use the Games Workshop Blood for the Blood god paint.  Just use a medium dry brush & stipple the paint to give it that blood splatter look.  If you varnish your models, I tend to spray the matt varnish Games Workshop sells on all my own models, then I'd do the blood effect after word.

 

- Yes if the Vampire Count Dragon (don't really play Warhammer Fantasy so not quite sure the name).  I also use the bones from that model & added it around the hull to give it that Daemonic feel & blend them in using liquid green stuff.

- For the yellow I pretty much paint it

+ Averland Sunset (Base)

+ Zamesi Desert (Layer)

+ Yriel Yellow (Layer)

+ Sepia wash (Shade)

+ Flash Git yellow (Layer) to highlight that

 

You could go further & use a water down or use medium on Ushabti Bone.  I don't general do that but it another chose.  Then stripple with Abaddon Black using the medium dry brush for the chip effect, then bit of metal using foam.

 

You can use masking tape to help when painting the yellow & black lines.

Champion - I went with the Power fist because it look cool more than anything else & it been a while since I painted up a Iron Warriors arm with this weapon.  As said I like having all these sub theme to my units, adding to there background & I like each Champion to have somthing to give them there own background.  When we think of Sauron from LotR we know he arm with a brutal mace for his weapon or the armour.

I've really enjoy converting & painting up the new unit of Havocs for my Iron Warriors.  I'm going to look & work out a new list for Throne of Skulls where I want to included this unit.

Next up - I want to convert up a Rhink transport for this unit, which would also be added to the new list for Throne of Skulls to keep with the Mech theme with Obliterator support :D
I would like to try give the Iron Havoc Rhino transport a Havoc launcher, convert it up like the Rhino I made back in Oct for my wargaming club tournament - Stirling Wargamer: Rapid Fire.

I'll also be convert up a extra memeber for the unit just in the event I don't have the pts for the Power Fist for the Champion & it always great to add new models to a army you enjoy collecting.

 

But right now I'll be taken the Iron Havocs to there first game on Thursday as my friend want to try out the new 7th ed rules with there ork army.  That will be 2000pts, think I;ve got my Biker in that list along with the FW Iron Warriors Dreadnought, the Dreadnought been great in all 9 games now, found he always done somthing really epic.

I've had two games of 7th ed, one with standard mission so me & my oppent could get to grips with the new rules & the second one useing the new Maelstorm mission.  Really enjoy the new set of rules, still to read up on the psychic phase & overall how psychic work in the new ed.  I'm going to included more Maelstorm mission in my games.

 

I've also pick up a Land Raider earily today for my Iron Warriors.  I'm going to look into convert this into Lord Narach, second in command of my Grand Company own personal transport.  Also I just like building & painting Land Raider models no matter which power armour army I;ve collected over the years.

I'm happy how the unit turn out & enjoy useing them in game. They took part in my 800th game with the Iron Warriors yesterday, while they did get wipe out in the end, they done great job. Overall the 800th game was great fun against the Eldar. Just everthing was going against me, then things turn around when Lord Narach made his Inv save or Feel no Pain (Warlord trait) from three round of shooting from Fire Dragons or my Champion Bronn Tal becoming a Daemon Prince & that was the turing point of the game. In the end all I had was Bronn Tal, 3x Iron Warriors from his unit, Rhino, heldrake & 2x Obliterators, while my oppent just had his Warlord, 2x Eldar tanks & a unit of Eldar Scorpians.

 

I went to my local Games Workshop store last Sunday to pick up the weekly White Dwarf & also to pick up a second Knight. I want to make this my own & stand out. I'm still trying work out things & need a day just to really focuse on conversion idea. Key part I want for this model is - Daemonic, Obliterators, machine, seige, somthing along the like of Legio Mortis from Storm of Iron novel

Finial - I've said here & there about possible arrange a 7000pt game over the past few months, mainly just to see how the Iron Warriors army look & that it would be cool. My wargaming club was holding a 10 year anniversary - All Saturday gaming session, with the club starting back around this time in 2004.

 

My orignaly game line up was against Dave who I've posted a link to his blog on a past battle report iN Feb when I was just starting out my current Iron Warriors force. Sadily he was not able to make them game with family commitments. But my friend Kieran step up & offer a 7000pt game useing pretty much everthing he had in both his Space Marines & Tau army, both of which have fought against my Iron Warriors over the past year now? Also he move to USA by the end of this month. So though be a great way as a send off game & just overall since the Stirling wargamer made today 10am to 6pm.

 

So it was the Red Scorpion & Tay ally against my Iron Warriors with Cypher & a unit of Fallen Angels. I'll not be write a battle report as part of it trying to rememeber everthing & just got back home there it been a long day, but has been a really great game & a send off game for my friend before he move to USA.

 

So just few photos from the game. It really great to see all of the models painted or that least basecoat as my friend only had one Tau unit that he was starting to paint, but put them on hold until after moving.

I think for me, only models not use from my Iron Warriors force is - Knight, Lord of Skulls, 2 Sorcerer, 1 Helbrute & a unit of Cultist. It was great useing a few units I not use in a while & also units I never use before. I was really impress with both Fiend models & my Helbrutes. My Rhinos got take apart on turn 1 along with my Land Raider Cypher & the Fallen Angels where also great While I'd keep forgetting to fire my Missile Launcher Havoc unit even though they where right in front of me/where I was sitting.

After the game Kieran has ask if I'll add a trophie of his armies on to my Iron Warriors force, which I will be adding ether a Sternguard or a Chaplain from the Red Scorpian chapter onto my brand new Land Raider along with a Tau trophie.

Just it always been cool & always been great for idea toward conversion. There a Dark Angels who just been slay on the ground. If I can find more photos I'll try get them posted.

 

Finial - I've recently been getting my Ravenwing army finish for 1750pts as there only a few models left now to add to the army. What this mean is, I been buying boxies of Ravenwing Knights to convert up my unit Sargents & I've got a few Knight bike left over. So I'll be adding new Battle Brother to the unit of Bikers I've already got for my Iron Warriors. Just right now I've found the unit a bit to frigle gaming wise & always wipe out before they get to do anything to be honsty.
So I'll be trying to get my unit of Iron Warriors Biker up to 8 models right now.

I'd taken these photos yesterday just after adding the third layer of Forge World weather powder.  I'd recently added two new battle brother to my Biker unit for the Iron Warriors.  Just I've been spending the past few weeks getting my Ravenwing army all finish & ready to get some games with them soon, just I had a few left over Knight Biker after buying a box set to convert up a few Veteran Sargent.  Also I've just found the five biker get wipe out way to easy, I'll be aim to get this unit up to ten models in all in the near future.

 

I also spent today just getting the finial detail all finish from adding Blood for the blood god & getting the daemonic face finish on the bolter.

Also after the 7000pt game a few week back.  I went to my local Games Workshop store the following day & pick up a second Knight for my Iron Warriors.  Here what I got so far

 

I'm a little unsure right now.  I want to try get the knight model ready for painting next week. I've just got to add green stuff to the spine part which where taken from the Zombie dragon kit & same with the spike that I've use from the Vampire Count Mortis model. But as said unsure if I should add anything else or just wait & see how it all goes one the green stuff been added to the model. I don't want to really buy any more, as I've just bought a Nid, Vampire Count Dragon & a Vampire Count Mortis & as said really want to get the Knight model painted this week.

 

Also I've having to keep in mind that I will be carry this model to say my local store, gaming club or taken it down to Nottingham for event in Warhammer World or just enter the Knight into the Legand painting comp.  I think best thing would be to try spend tomorrow adding the green stuff to the model & get the base built.

 

The base will be model a bit like Dan Imperial Knight that was shown in the weekly White Dwarf when staff memeber where showing the Imperial Knights they'd models & painted up.

It been a bit like the Land Speeder Vengance I was painting for my Ravenwing.  That first it never seem to fit with my style of painting.  But when I got a good few hour just to sit down & paint the model.  It started to really fit in with my style of painting & just a lot differnt in the end than it was when I first started painting that model. 

Because of that, it made me really want to get the last bits of my Ravenwing army finish as it been over a year - due to house moving & having the army in storage. But now I just need a second Land Speeder vengance & that my army at 1750pts & then it just need a single day to pretty much get the Ravenwing army all finish with FW weather powder & photo of the army will be taken.

The claw idea came from GuitaRasmus knight model. It just look cool & tie in really well.

I've been useing the Bloodquest comic for referance while I was building up the Knight & general try get idea. As said the bloodquest comic has been great & offer a lot of conversion idea.

 

Also I've been search about on google & saw a great Chaos Warlord, just get idea toward my Knight model model.

 

It was part of the Siege of Terra diorama that was built up year ago, around the same time as the life size Chaos Space Marines I posted up. I rememeber seen it at Warhammer World & it was really epic, lot of epic little battle scene. I think I saw the diroama five time during the few days I was at Warhammer World as a kid & each time there somthing you'd never notice. Like wise how the staff memeber would re-tell the story & point out the scene when they give a tour of the musuem at Warhammer World

While looking that this Warlord Titan, I am really temp to try make one.  Just I done a NQ to HND model making course in Glasgow & it is pretty easy to build, but it would take a lot of time, somthing I've not got right now.  But it would be cool & a really great center pice model.

 

Other than that.  I'm almost ready to start my Terminators unbound army list for the Iron Warriors, which the knight above will be part off.  I've got a new unit I'll be converting up soon for a local tournament, the event was meant to be mounth but has been push back to a later date given me a bit more time, just the unit will be bodyguard for Warpsmith Damocles.

 

On another note - I'm looking to start a Fallen Angels army in the next few weeks. Part of this is just to start new army but also I just like the background from what I've read in the Cypher dateslate. Also Eddie Fallen from ToS Sept (see Sept update from last year) where really great/inspire & a Fallen Angels army that use to be that GW Stirling back in 2000 it been a army along with my friend Thasound Sons that I've always rememeber due to the conversion & overall look.
Also again bring in the Bloodquest comic as there a Fallen who led a Tezentch (sp) warband. Back when I started my IW in 2001 I did have a Fallen Angel as part of Warsmith Abhorred Riddick bodyguards with Narach. Always though about bring him back as well but as a Sorcerer, base on the Librarian art work from the Dark Angels codex.

 

But for the Fallen army, I'll be useing Black Legion supplament with the Cypher dateslate. Just been looking for a new army to collect & Chaos has been my main force since starting the hobby. They offer a lot of conversion & fit the way I game.

I'll hopeful be starting the Fallen over the next few weeks.  Just need to try get a Forge World order place for some Heresy era models for conversion & see how the test model goes & just know how it will all look :D  Right now I just have a second Cypher conversion just for the future Fallen army, Deathwing Knights because they just look cool & a box of Dark Angels veterans that are waiting for MkIII armour for conversion.

I mange to get some time today which help just to focuse & get the Knight built, ready for painting this week. I was unsure last week but same time it been really busy & week before that I was ill as I don't re-act well to heat (I hate summer time). While the weekend, as said there I was at the Bannockburn live event yesterday marking 700 year since the Battle of Bannockburn led by Robert the Bruce, was a really great event but by time I got back home I was really tired & had no energy to get anything done beside just watching TV.

But just a few hour ago allow me to just spend time building & getting the Knight ready for painting this week

 

The Bannockburn live event was great & has given me idea for theme/idea toward future Iron Warriors models.

I just finish adding last bit of detail to the two Biker on Saturday there. I will be looking to bring this unit up to ten models strong, just somthing about max unit that look cool. Also because I'm getting my Ravenwing army finish & about to start Fallen Angels (need Shoulder pads from the Ravenwing knights). So meant there will still be a few spare Bike models I can always convert for this unit of IW biker.

Still need to work out a name for the unit & for there Champion.

 

So looking that the Iron Warriors I'm planning/to get done

 

- Knight, the knight will be painted during this week.

- New Breacher theme squad. Just part of 1500pts list I was working out for a future Throne of Skulls & act as bodyguard for my Warpsmith Damocles. With the local tournament been move back to a future date, it does allow me time just to get the unit all ready for then & to try out the army list.

- Unbound Terminators: Right now I've got half of the bits I need to get this army list on the go. I need ten Terminators in all to convert & paint. I want to try get everthing together & try get this lot done that same time building wise.

 

Also forgot I've got a third Land Raider.  Hopeful get a free day in the next few week to get the Raider all built & painted :D  I think I will add a Red Scorpion (sp) Chaplain as a trophie to rep the 7000pt game.

 

Beyound that, there always cool models to add on to my Iron Warriors.

The skull face plate is 23mm hight, while length it 14mm or close give or take.

I'm going to spend tomorrow getting bulk of the Knight model painted & I've also got a game arrange, depend the points I might use the knight.  Then hopeful that the weekend I'll get all the finial detail finish & also get honour marking painted onto the armour plate.

I didnotice somewhere your blood effect  blood split on your models how you did it? tecnique? maybe any video that help you?

- For the yellow I pretty much paint it

+ Averland Sunset (Base)

+ Zamesi Desert (Layer)

+ Yriel Yellow (Layer)

+ Sepia wash (Shade)

+ Flash Git yellow (Layer) to highlight that

 

You could go further & use a water down or use medium on Ushabti Bone.  I don't general do that but it another chose.  Then stripple with Abaddon Black using the medium dry brush for the chip effect, then bit of metal using foam.

 

You can use masking tape to help when painting the yellow & black lines.

It just about building up the yellow & sepia wash give it that darker tone.  Once the yellow line been painted, just use Abaddon black just to tidy them up.  As said there in the quote you can use masking tape if it help or mark them out useing a pencil just to help give that guide.

 

Hope that help out :D  There also the painting guide in the weekly White Dwarf when the Imperial Knight where release which is really great & helpful & just another chose.

 

Just spent today painting up the second Knight & he almost there.  Just got forge world weather powder to add to the feet area of the model.  Blood for the Blood God on the base & chainsword weapon.

Also going to add some writen work on the right shoulder pad, which will be taken from text in the third FW heresy book that can be seen on the side of some of the Iron Warriors tanks.  So hopeful get some time get that lot done tomorrow & he should be finish.

Just to the left in the preview photos/download, it show a Iron Warriors with a Heavy Bolter like backpack with servo arm.  So ether convert up a new Warpsmith like this or as a new Battle Brother for the Iron Havocs I converted up a few week back or both.  Just looking to building a single display model for painting comp & for Warhammer World - Legand painting comp which has single, tanks, etc...
