I really like your Tech Priest! I startet working on mine too this weekend - let's see if he can measure up to yours :smile.:

 

Thanks Kythnos - It would be really great to see the Tech Priest model in your own IW army.  He really great to build & paint, one of my favrout single spure models along with the Dark Angels Chaplain & Chaos Champion. 

Like wise he really great to paint, really enjoy adding him to my army & looking forward see the history he will gain in all the epic future games my Dark Mechanicus army will battle in.

I went with a darker and grittier look compared to yours, but that's just a matter of preference. I hope to be able to add more Heretek elements to my army in the near future. Though there are still a few units on my desk that are waiting to be painted first :D

Also a little update

 

Since the start of the year I've been take part in a tale of gamer type thing.  No points, but we got some guide line to follow.  Phase 3 needed to get complete - 1 Elite & 1 Fast Attack with gaming happing end of this week.  I was just reminded about the gaming side last week & had still to pick a Fast Attack unit.

End up going for Raptors, so here the model before they where undercaoted & leadbelcher spray use on them.

Since then, the Melta arm Battle Brother & Champion have both been converted up a few hour ago & ready for undercoating tomorrow.

 

This is my second unit of Raptors in my Grand Company - Just since the plastic models where release, there cool.  Also I'm always been inspired by Warhammer World display +Angelus Prime+ the Chaos vs Ultramarine diorama

So I'll be spend tomorrow painting up the three current Raptor models tomorrow.  As said get the Champion & Melta arm Battle Brother undercaoted later.

 

Dark Mechanicus - With ETL finish until next year.  I'm getting my Dark Mechanichs army on the go, I'm going to use the White Dwarf formastion with it being a bit of everything & just allow me to get a idea how I want to use the models in games.

During last week I've been painting up the Dune walker (?), it a really great model to build & enjoy painting.  Since this photo was taken the base is current being painted & should be finish during the weekend.

Also I've place a order for the Iron Warriors FW Transfer sheet for my Siege Knight.  I'm looking forward to getting them along with Night Lord Terror squad helmet (Sorcerer conversion).  I've never really use transfer before.

Also trying to plan what model I want to paint during a week off I've got planned soon.  It ether going to be a new model for my Iron Warriors or Dark Mechanicus, but need to start plan that out soon.

Update

 

Just spent yesterday late afternoon trying out the Forge World Transfer. This has been the first time I've use transfer in the 19 years I've been in the hobby. I use the Games Workshop youtube video on the Knight for refernce & make sure everything was going ok or if I needed little help with somthing, just check the video out.

Once they where added, Forge World weather powder was added onto the Knight.

 

He almost there. Right now the right shoulder pad need some paint on the IW Icon, just on the jaw area. There might be some more battle damage added, I'm going to wait until during the week & talk to a few friends & also just to see the model with fresh eyes.

I've also said about wanting to try get my Chaos Guard army on the go once more. After getting a game vs my friend Chaos Guard armour company & rememeber another friend Chaos Guard Armies on Parade 2012. Also same with classic White Dwarf with Geroge Dellapina own Imperial Guard armour company force, that army was cool & had a lot cool conversion & theme.
Just seen both armies there cool. Armour company list, it cool seen the army all painted & gaming against them.

 

Spent a bit of today adding weather powder while adding the finial layer to the Knight model. I think I will use Call of Chaos to try get this army complete. I think I just need to get 6x tanks just to get some games in as soon as possible :biggrin.:

Dark Mechanicus - Just started painting the base. It been pretty busy here right now, but I hope to get some time during this week to get the base all finish.

If not, then in two week time I've got a week holiday off which I'm looking forward to & want to get some of my own models painted.

Update

 

So since Friday I've start my holidays which is going to last until Tuesday 8th September.  During that time I want to get some time get a lot of things done & also time toward the hobby, like this afternoon & during all day tomorrow, get some painting done & just watch few DVD like the Hobbit & guardian of the galaxy. 

 

I'm going to get a second Bloodthister added to my Iron Warriors.  This will be the standard one gaming wise.  As before, it just a cool model & really enjoy building & painting the last one.  I will be useing the Games Workshop video over on youtube as a guide.

So after being Stirling castle, just find going there beside being great place, help clear my head & just get some fresh air as part few days I've been pretty ill with the cold....... day after I buy a Chaos Lord to converting into a Nurgle Lord.

Dark Mechanicus - This is just going to be a marker for any HQ chose who might take the buring brand but don't have it on them selfs. It would be best to make a marker for them & though be pretty cool having a Dark Mechanicus doing this. Gaming wise he just a marker, he not there, all mesurment will be done from the base of the model who arm with it. It like how I've model the Fimilair seprate for my Sorcerer but that also to remind me he has one since a fair few of my IW's already have servo skulls models onto there base.

Herald that I'll also paint during today. Just ran out of time yesterday as tidy up my room & painting stastion/desk took longer due to getting bit ill with it been a bit humid/clammy/warm weather during the day which as said before I hate & just looking forward to it being Autum soon.

It just came down to chose between getting the Bloodthister fully built along with the Dark Mechanicus marker.

I'm wanting to get my Chaos Guard army finish.  It been waiting over the past few years, but right now it just that the stage I want to get my Armour company ready & get some games.  After Saturday, I've just got 3x Wyvrens & 1 Sentinel to buy & that my army ready that 1850pts.
Models bought during weekend are currently been built & hopeful get all spray on next Monday ready for painting when time permit.

 

With the Leman Russ above it just adding Weather powder to the Demolish I got back in November, free one my friend got in DWARF Winter War raffle but there a Warhammer player & knew it go to a good home.

I pick up the Chaos Terminator Lord last weekend. Just looking back that the weekly White Dwarf a while back that a Chaos Nurgle Sorcerer shown. It really cool & inspering (sp?). During last week a friend had given me the left over parts from the Warhammer Nurgle models (not sure there names). So though be cool to convert up a model inspired by this conversion but as a Nurgle Lord. One of the things if the axe from that Warhammer Nurgle kit which is really cool & will be his main weapon for this conversion.
I've just got one part to try get from that Nurgle kit & then I can go forward with the conversion idea I have in mind. Might possible get the single spure Nurgle Lord from Warhammer as well.

Nurgle lord I posted a few week ago

Bloodborn base on Khârn Eater of World novel. Just been re-reading the novel recently just find out/remind myself a bit more about them. Going to use the FW Khorne upgrade kit along with the Night Lord Terror squad helmet. Have a mix of combi bolter, power mauls, axe's from the Age of Sigmar models.
While there Rhino transport will use the Forge World Khorne door icons. Should hopeful buy kits I'll need around October, the unit should be ready around end of October/around November time.

 

Vindicator will be join my orignaly one converted back in 2012. Aim to make a unit/squad of Vindicators. Also I want to try some of the IW transfer sheet I got a month ago. Looking around October to November time for this model

 

IW Sorcerer - Again just have chose & diffrent wargear. November time for the Sorcerer.

 

Chaos Guards will be follow the guide/exsample from Forge World modelmaster class book Vol1 (photo taken last year)

My bloodthister so far.  I mange to get few days set aside during my week off & get the Bloodthister model painted, along with a lot of other models I needed for a 750pts event that I went to on the 5th Sept/during my birthday.
I've just got a little bit more to paint & then the Bloodthister will be finish.

Quick Call of Chaos update

 

Just spent today painting the fourth Sentinel model & second Wyvren for my Chaos Guards. I've still to add Forge World weather powder to the Wyvren & get the crew sorted for the unit. Hopeful going to buy the third Wyvren this weekend meaning my Chaos Guards will be ready for a few games that 1850pts, just got that & as said the crew convert up.

Thanks - All trophies are base on oppents & friends armies they collect or fought against over the years I've collected my Iron Warriors.  Find it a great way to add to the army history & also just to rememebre some great games.

 

Quick update on things.

 

I've recently made the chose to get all my power armour Iron Warriors move onto 32mm base.  This will take time & most this will be done during the Christmas holidays.  But so far I've mange to get two units ready for a few local events I've got happen in the next while.

One of the challenge was, I wanted to keep all the detail I've already added to my current base.  So the ruin, H beam & plastic rods, etc....  Lucky I've been useing green stuff to build up the base while collecting my Iron Warriors & it made it easy just to keep all that stuff intact.

Once the models where glue onto the new 32mm base.  Just super glue & apply sand where it needed.  Once that all dry, just paint with water down Abaddon black & paint away. 

 

So Christmas time I've got over 75 models to move over to the 32mm base.  This is being done because I think they do look cool, add more room & just balance to my Iron Warriors models.

Right now, October been pretty chaotic for me & just lot happing.  But I've mange to get Dark Mechanicus crew painted up recently for my Chaos Guard Wyvren.  They also allow me to try out useing transfer.

I've just got the Chaos Guard gunner crew to convert.  I should hopeful have the Renegade Forge World upgrade pack ready by the enc of this week & have the crew all built before the end of this month.  Once there all painted & glue onto the Wyvrens, that my Chaos Guards all ready for 1850pts.  I should be arrange there first few games just after the local gaming events & really looking forward to trying out my new Chaos Guard force.

Also with that, the bulk my Call of Chaos vow are complete.  I should have the Renegade upgrade pack, along with Khorne Berzerker Rhino & Power Armour upgrade packs bought on Friday.  Then Novemeber time aim to get my second Vindicator bought & painted, think it just the Iron Warriors Sorcerer (Power Armour) & Nurgle Lord I've still got to get finish.

Great idea on the bases. I'm debating whether to rebase my marines. Your method makes it a bit easier. How hard was it to cut off the base rims?

Quick update on the Iron Warriors & what they've done during October..

 

On October the 24th & 25th, my local wargaming club ran our yearly tournament - Stirling Wargamer Rapid Fire, this was the tenth year it been going.  So 6 games over the two days that 1850pts.  Was a really great weekend & fought lot really great games.  Battling 2x Guard armies, 2x Tau armies, 1 Necron & 1 Orks  One my toughess games was against my friend Chaos Guard army which ended in 9 Kill points each.  No idea what happen, but my Chaos Siege Knight - out of any games, this one seem to see him go into a rampage taken out

  • 2x Leman Russ (one been Pask) in combat on turn 2
  • Baneblade in combat on turn 3
  • 2x Leman Russ Demolisher turn 4 with Melta weapon
  • 3x Wyvrens in close combat on turn 6

Other epic gaming moment been

  • Lone Iron Warriors vs Necrons, holding a object in a Maelstorm mission & making over 40 armour save during two turn of shooting.  Pretty much I had to hold onto that object while a Obliterator went to claim another for one of my cards.
  • Lord Narach vs the Chaos Guard tank army, making 50+ armour save? vs Wyvren shooting, protecting the unit of Terminator & my Sorcerer.
  • Again Tau, a lone Obliterator holding the left table side for me.  Taken on kroot, to making all Inv save vs Tau Battle suit with Plasma weapons.

I also got the first 20 models onto there new 32mm base.  The 90+ will get rebase during the Christmas holidays.  This is just due to I think 32mm base look cool.

I've got one more tournament that for chairty - DWARD: Winter War in a few weeks time which is a great event to end the year.  Then hopeful next year my Iron Warriors will make a return to Throne of Skulls that Warhammer World with the whole place done up.

I'll be advance order the Horus heresy box game this weekend from my local store & will be useing one set of the tactical marines to help convert up my World Eater unit along with Khorne Age of Sigmar models that I bought back when they where just release.
I think after that, I've just got a Vindicator, Sorcerer & a Nurgle Terminator lord which will all be sorted in the next few weeks.

 

I'm going to spend tomorrow painting up classic Metal Chaos Lord I bought last week.  This has always been one of my favrout Chaos models & I wanted to add another one to my army straight from the blister/no conversion.  Still rememeber all the really cool once the Eavy Metal team painted up in WD 232 when Battlefleet Gothic was also release.

Finial - my Chaos Guard army almost complete.  Three years of this project going on & off.  Just happy to finial see it that 1850pts.  I've just got three Wyvren crew to paint.  I'm going to be check out Armour 13: Lost & the Damned Renegade army list to see what other units & cool model I'm wanting to add to this force so I've got the chose & as said add cool models more than anything else :biggrin.:

Next

 

  • There a unit of Iron Warriors I want to convert/theme around the Forgefane background from WD (Trygon release) & Armour 13: Lost & the Damned.  I've got a few idea for this unit after been that Warhammer World for the Warhammer 40,000 open day during 17th October.
  • I've got my Mechanicus army list sorted out.  So right now the aim get them to 1850pts or that least get a good amount of the army built & painted during the Christmas holidays
  • Call of Chaos vows to complete
  • Rebase all Power Armour models to 32mm base
  • Add Siege Tyrants Terminators when Forge World release them

Looking good IP!

Do you have any big plans on how you are planning on rebasing so many minis?

 

Just spotted I never added photos on that.  If you check my topic over in the Forge area, I've got a quick photo shown sort of step.  I'll edit them into this post once I'm on my lap top in a few hour.

 

It easy to do & lot better than the originally way I was going to try this.

 

Turn out to be a lot easier.  Pretty much, because I use green stuff on the base to help add high & to blend in parts like the ruin building.  That been the biggest help on rebase the current 19 models over to the 32mm.  Because I didn't want to loss anything like the H beam, ruin, plastic tube....etc.  The green stuff kept that all as one.

 

The plastic 25mm base will get damage as you try remove that.  But green stuff keep everything in tack.  Just be very careful while doing this.

 

Then once that all done.  I undercoat the 32mm base first, this is to help the sand to give it something to key onto & not flake off.  Just glue the green stuff that holding onto everything that currently on my base.  Then with the space due to 32mm base.  First all, pva glue that & apply the sand.  Let that dry, I usely sand base near the end of the day & that allow me 12ish hour to dry.  Once that happen I went back & super glue on top of the new sand & applied another layer of sand.  Just fill in gaps & try add high to the base where it is needed, also the super glue help add a bit of texture.

 

Once that was all done & leave for about 30 min to a hour just make sure super glue dry.  Just use a shade brush & Abaddon black heavy mix with water onto the new sand.  Once that dry, re-paint the new sand.  Tidy the edge of the base & a quick varnish, using blu tack to cover up any blood effect or where gloss varnish was use.

 

It just been really careful more than anything else.  Only thing I really loss out of the rebase was the water effect, but that doesn't matter & something that easy to re-do onto the newer base.

I've got over 90 Power Armour models I'll be moving onto the 32mm base & this will get done during the Christmas holidays.  I think I've got 57 base so far.  I'm doing this because I think the 32mm base look cooler for Power Armour models & seem to add balance.  Also for future models give me more space to add a lot more cool things.

 

Edit - Here the photos just to quickly show how the models look when I rebase them to 32mm base.  One of the things was trying to keep all the stuff I'd already added to my base - Ruin building, H beam, plastic tubes, tuft.  Lot of money, material & time went into making these base.

 

 

Update

 

With today off. I spent a few hours getting the new base sorted & the new 32mm base are cooler, while watch new Mad Max movies & spend some time on Blood Bowl. Pretty much after spend a few moment working out everything - wasn't able to proper focuse with a lot happen during this week. I chose not to just cut off the edge of the 25mm base & glue them on, followed by green stuff, etc....

 

Seem, thankful adding all that green stuff to my base to blend the ruin, H beam, etc... & bulk them really paid off. Pretty much thankful to them, it keep everything I wanted to keep in tack & lot easier to just rip off the plastic 25mm base. Then just super glue these onto the 32mm base & just add sand useing super glue.

Thanks Midnight Runner.  I should hopeful have the classic Chaos Lord finish painted ether later today or that least tomorrow along with a few new Dark Mecahicus models for my army.

 

I am looking forward rebase my army.  32mm base look a lot cooler.  Just been talk to a lot my friends about the rebase before Rapid Fire & how a lot them are making the change as well.  My Cultist, Chaos Guards & Dark Mechanicus will stay on 25mm base.

I'm aim to try get a new army photo next week if all goes to plan just to show the army since last time & just before I make the update on the Power Armour models.

 

On another note - Just order Dynat (Horus Heresy Alpha Legion) from Forge World for my Sorcerer vow for Call of Chaos :D  Then it just the Vindicator, Nurgle Lord & World Eater unit.

During Saturday I took part in DWARF yearly charity tournament - Winter War, which saw this year gain £3100.  It a really great event & as always great to catch up with a lot of friends & just get some great games.  I've been going to this event for the past two years when 40k was brought in & great way to end the year event wise.

 

My Iron Warriors ended up battle - Slannesh Chaos, Eldar & Orks.  All three games where really great & my oppents where really cool.  There was a lot of Chaos Marine & Daemonkin armies that the event which was cool & just talk about our armies & useing the models we enjoy.

Game vs Orks. My oppent had commented how the Ork Warlord taken down two Knight in combat.......... they mange to get a third one, still shock how I failed four hits. But again & along with round 1 & 2, was a really great game to end the event.

Today mark the 14th year I've been collecting the IV Legion, my 5th Grand Company. With a mail order back when you could order bitz, arrive for me to convert up Warsmith Abhorred Riddick to led my force for Conflict Scotland 2002 which I've shown before & done a updated version earily this year?. Also back when Iron Warriors followed the rules from Index Astarties article in the White Dwarf.

 

Then four year ago saw me start up my Mk6 version & this army log.

 

The first model for this new version of my Iron Warriors has change a lot over those four years. With parts added to the backpack, Armour plate loin cloth & recently the new 32mm base. Along with his Battle Brothers led by Bronn Tal, have been one of my most trusted units I've use during these past years, always been main part to any army list.

There over 300 models in that photo.  It just the Ironstrider & Dunewalker that where not added in the photo & another Heldrake (need fix).  But that pretty much all the painted models up to that point.

 

One thing I'd like to do is to try get a game with all my Iron Warriors on the really cool gaming tables down in Warhammer World.  They've just recently shown a new Age of Sigmar table which would fit that home as a fort from the IV Legion home planet with in the eye of terror.

Just bought this lot from my local Warhammer store during yesterday, as well as enjoy the day & take part in the store birthday.

 

I pick up the Tech Priest & Leman Russ. I want to use the Tech Priest as my warlord model in my Dark Mechanicis force. Also I've spotted in the Renegade list in Armour 13: Lost & the Damned, I'm able to upgrade models to be theme around Dark Mechanicus which will be cool to try out.

While the Leman Russ can easily be added to my Chaos Guard/Renegade force :biggrin.:

I'm wanting to convert up a Lord on Juggernaut after seen a lot of cool conversion on the forum & also a nod toward the 2nd ed era Metal model.  Looking back, I am gutted I trade my model many year ago but it was for the limited ed Emperor Champion.  Then I saw a really cool Juggernaut Lord conversion on sale that a local wargaming event which I was gutted not to taken a photo off.

So this is going to be a model I'm going to build during my Christmas holidays for my Iron Warriors.

 

Seen Archon up for advance order today & check out today White Dwarf. He a really cool model & if I'm able to get the Daemonic sword, I may use this on Sorcerer Narik Gharrok.

I've just spent the past few hours converting up the Vindicator tank that I trade with Biohazard during the DWARF Winter War tournament. I will be adding green stuff to the Vindicator during my lunch hour tomorrow so it all ready to get painted during my days off. This will be join is Brother Vindicator I converted up back in 2012 & aim to try make a squad of these. So I think I'll add the third Vindicator during the ETL event next year.

Jaws part where inspired by the Slamander conversion I posted up after been that the Warhammer 40,000 open day event down in Nottingham, Warhammer World. They also need a bit of green stuff, but happy how they've turn out & just for the Forgefane unit I want to convert up during the Christmas holidays.

Then the Tech Priest from the Leman Russ box. I built him while I was waiting on glue to dry on the Vindicator model during today. He a really cool model & I'm looking forward painting him the following week.

Been a bit delayed with the Dark Mechanicus, so hopeful push forward in the next few weeks.

I've got a few more weeks to go now until my Christmas holidays start (18th Dec).  I'm looking forward to having two & a half weeks off.  As said one of the main things is to try get my Power Armour models move over to the 32mm base.

 

Also Call of Chaos - I've just to build the Nurgle lord in Terminator armour.  That should be done in a week & a half time.  Right now it just him & the Vindicator that need to get painted for my vows to be complete :biggrin.:

Update

 

With Call of Chaos less then a week away, here how the last few vows are currently looking

 

My Vindicator that I got from Biohazard (trade that the local tournament DWARF Winter War) is now complete.  I've also went back to my orignaly Vindicator to add some soot weather powder as well.  The aim to try make a squad of these Vindicator, veteran from the Great Crusade, Heresy & the Long War who been though it all.

I've just quickly built him just over a hour ago & want to try get him ready for painting on Saturday (Saturday & Wed are usely my days off & kept aside for painting my own models). I'm just waiting on a order to arrive from Bitz Box & just add a few bit of plastic tube. Then get him undercaoted on Friday.

The Nurgle Lord was inspired by the Nurgle Sorcerer shown in the White Dwarf & Warhammer Vision a few month ago. It look really cool & very inspering. Also a little nod toward the old 2nd ed clip together Nurgle Marines, I had a squad of them in my Black Legion force along with a lot of Khorne Berzerker back then when I started the hobby.

So as said there, Nurgle Lord will be painted during Saturday & once he done my Call of Chaos vows are complete.

 

Then I should also be starting my Christmas holidays from the 17th Decemeber & want to get some time toward the hobby/time to myself before the holidays get really busy seen family & when I get Assassin's Creed.

I'm aim to have Sunday the 20th set aside to try get as much models built, Plastic Dreadnought, Juggernaut Lord, get the metal Chaos Dreadnought I got last month all base. I'll also be starting the re-base of my Power Armour models in my Iron Warriors force.

What about the Archaon model in the background? Do you plan to use him for some 40k conversions?

 

I didn't even notice Archaon...that Nurgle Sorcerer is creeping me out.

Archaon - He just for painting as I like the model & end of the day Chaos is my favrout faction in the Games Workshop hobby.  Just he on my painting stastion right now & there a box near by with other models (Horus Heresy & other project) to get painted during the Christmas holidays.

 

Hushrong - Should see my friend Nurgle force there current converted up.  It really cool, the Fiend models are really cool.  I can not wait to see the force fully painted.  Pretty much there trying to have one of each unit & warp theme units been the main focuse of the unit, as well as models with Mark of Nurgle.

They'll also add in there Chaos Guards I've shown in the past (black/sand brown camo colours) as allies/Cultist depend there list/try out for there game.

 

My last Call of Chaos vow is now complete. After buying part I needed on Wed, then getting him built when I got home & then painted on Saturday & varnish Sunday. After Rapid Fire, I though be nice to try out the rust Forge World weather powder I got from the event on this model.

Also since building the model I've been thinking possible building up a small honour guard of Terminators for him possible useing Grey Knight Terminators parts after find a spure (though not to many parts) while I was tidy up my room & painting stastion during today.

Once again I've really enjoy taken part in Call of Chaos allow me to add a few models & having the deadline to work to. Also seen ton of other really cool vows from all memeber who'd taken part.

Also this year allowed me to get my Chaos Guard army finish. As said in the past, this army has been on/off for three years & was getting to the stage if it didn't happen now, it never would. Now I'm looking to add a few units like the Death Korp Rough Rider models from Forge World. Also seen Armour 13: Lost & the Damned for more units & also spotting it allow me to use my Dark Mechanicus models in the same list if I want to which is really cool. Then there also my Cultist that been shown in the past who also double as Chaos Guard basic troops.

 

Also just got the new Techpriest finish on Sunday. Use transfer from the Horus Heresy box game, along with Mechanicus & Chaos Marine transfer. Since useing the FW IW transfer, I've been wanting to try them on other models & just get use to working with them.

Also spent a bit of today re-base part of my Iron Warrior force. So far I've gotten Sorcerer Krull, Warpsmith Damocles & Dark Apostle I converted up back in 2012 around this time. Along with the Havocs I converted up during the ETL with the new Devastator kit, as well as my Iron Havocs unit built last year. Then the Breacher along with Be Graphicus led by Champion Uzas Vel & Apocalypse led by Champion Kroege Santarr both unit been veteran of this army & been there since I started this era of my Grand Company.

I'll hopeful get another few squads rebase tomorrow & then I can start adding sand to all there base & have them ready for painting when time permit during the holidays (Assassin's Creed)

Along with his Brother Dreadnoughts. To think the Dreadnought front left has been around since near this time in 2001 when I was getting my first Iron Warriors force ready for Conflict Scotland. Also getting the Land Raider (see first post/page 1) on Christmas day.

I have notice the legs are a little diffrent on the new Dreadnought.

So as said there aim to rebase a few models tomorrow so there ready for painting during the holidays which has pretty much started for me now due to work needing done in the house during this week.

 

Then Sunday I'm going to get a new plastic Dreadnought converted up along with the Juggernaut Lord.
