Cheers for your feedback Captain Semper. :D

For now I am planning on finishing off the 2 command squads starting with a GotC Standard Bearer for the 3rd Company Command Squad. This guy is going to take a while, but I think he will end up pretty well.

Just have one question to all also, I wasn't initially planning on doing every tac marine in robes, but I'm starting to really like how they are turning out and are now leaning towards that idea. The downside is it would take quite a bit longer to put together larger numbers of troops, but considering I do have the time, it might be worth the extra effort. Any Thoughts?

I have the feeling it'll be worth the waiting! ;)

I say go for it! Some people tend to be frugal with robes so that they underline the importance of those that do actually wear them. However in the case of GotC I beleive their background sort of promts you to "overuse them" so to speak. It shows off their scholarly tenedency and their studious nature, so yeah. Besides without the robes they look dangerously similar to Silver Skulls :)

Yellow Stripe your marines look really good and the freehand banners are amazing!

My only criticism is that none of your barrels are drilled out. I know its a preference thing and not everybody like it but I find it adds a little extra to the model without much effort.

Otherwise keep up the good work and glad to see you joined the LPC!

Sigh... I look at these threads and am sad face. :wallbash: I look at everyone fantastic models, then at my assembly line models, and become disappoint. Though I can build and paint a battle force in a day.

But enough negativity, Stripe, your stuff is amazing. Seriously good. Inspires me to get going

I dunno how I missed these last updates, must have been drunk :wallbash:. Thanks for providing a link through the LPC thread.

I wasn't sure about the red on the vehicles but you've nailed it. And the mud/damage is excellent.

So following this thread now.

Practice makes for improvement brother. My apothecary is taking his third bath in detol right now.I will get the white smooth, this i vow!

So dont feel sad, keep at it and you will be pleased with the results i am certain.

My first attempts at painting went pretty terribly. Blotchy paint, bad coverage, poor color choices. It takes practice and experimentation to get things looking the way you'd like them. I can now paint up a full squad of terminators in a night using my current scheme, its all about practice.

Hi All, thanks heaps for the feedback you have all given. I have got a few updates today. All stuff for the LPC 2012, but also allowing me to patch a few gaps in my army so far.

Veteran Sergeant Mael, of the 2nd Tactical Squad.

Company Champion. Being one of the higher ranked members of the 3rd Company, I added more script to his armour segments than most other members. (There is also script on the shoulder armour but is hard to see due to glare.)

Lastly, a Heavy Weapon Specialist for the 1st Tactical Squad. One issue I had with this guy, is that I was unsure whether or not the shoulder pad should display the Tactical 'arrows' as the other members of the squad do, or the Devestator class markings. If someone is able to help clarify this it would be greatly appreciated, as I want this sort of thing as accurate as possible.

Again, thanks to everyone for the feedback, its handy to have the opinion of others :P At the moment I am awaiting a drill piece so that I am able to drill the barrels as Brother Moridius has suggested. I have had a look at the work of others and for something so simple, it really does make a difference.

Awesome, awesome stuff!!! Your army remains consistently great looking and you're also closer to fulfilling your vow! It will soon be time for a group photo.

Regarding the markings I agree with Komodo. Each tactical squad can carry a heavy weapon. This is a weapon of the tactical squad carried by one of its members. Not on loan from the devs. nor do they require a dev marine to operate it. So to tactical squad markings are the correct ones - not doubts there.

Hi Brothers, I have a question that I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with?

Since I am waiting for more units to arrive in the mail for the LPC 2012, I have gone back and decided to do some touch ups and adjustments to my models I have previously 'completed'. One thing really started to get to me, and that is that my Standard Bearer for my Terminator Squad has the banner in 'his' left hand and therefore has no powerfist like he should have. I have already disassembled him to make the suitable changes to fix this issue (I may just start this guy again from scratch.)

My question about this is, is it possible to purchase a Standard for a Terminator to possess? I have had a look on the GW website and could find nothing available there. For the previous one used on this guy, I simply used the Standard from the SM Command Squad and I think stuck it to a Chaos arm, but was hoping there was just an official piece I could use. If not, could anyone recommend the best pieces to use so that he can wield a Standard in his Right hand?

There is no terminator standard. I just converted mine with a Thunderhammer arm and the Command Squad banner, much like you did. A few people have converted one off of this standard: Empire General. They usually swap the hammer out for a sword.

Here's my current Deathwing standard bearer, using the sergeant's banner pole from the metal Deathwing models. I don't use standards on terminator sergeants or characters, so there's no room for confusion. The arms are magnetised so I can vary his weapons.

However, inspired by your excellent company standard Yellow Stripe, I plan to change him to something like this.

I'm going out this afternoon to buy some brass rod for the new pole.

  • 2 weeks later...

Alright, so while I was awaiting some more units to arrive for my LPC vow, I have been applying touch ups to a chunk of the guys I had already though finished. However, this has led to me becoming unhappy about several units in my army and I will be making several large changes to these once my vow is complete. The first thing on my list will be to redo my Terminator Command Squad. I plan to have this unit ALL equipped with close combat equipment, which means fixing my apothecary with different equipment, and I will be doing a completely new standard bearer (am going to equip the standard to the top of the armour, leaving both hands to equip a TH/SS. I also plan on removing my Termie w/Assault Cannon, and replacing him with another close combat Termie, equipped with a Cyclone Missile Launcher.

Moving on, to lead the way with the changes I am making, I have decided to also redo Gabriel, 1st Company Master. Put simply, the original model I had done to this guy didn't look menacing enough in my opinion, so I attempted to put him in a more dynamic stance. However, in doing this, I realised that with the Lightning Claws equipped to a standard sized Termie, whilst in a standing position, is difficult to get the ideal imagery.

So, I have completely redone Gabriel, starting with completely new parts (excluding the head) and now equipped with TH/SS. I have added more battle damage to him now, most noticeable on the Shield, and added a few details on the helmet, robe etc, to add more personality to him also. I have attached a few images of the changes made below, the first being a comparison from the old design to the new.

As always, let me know what you think of these changes, any feedback here is appreciated, and I should have some more pics up over the next week or two with what should be the rest of my completed miniatures from my vow (including some group photos).
