Thanks for the replies again guys :)

But I don't know if you can find it in english...

That kind of leaves me stuffed as I flunked French at school lol

i especially love the electro discharge of the power sword and power fist, how do you it may i ask?

No worries Rob; colours used for the sword are Skull White, Chaos Black and Scorpion Green. My swords (and lightnig claws) are broke down ito two phases really:-

1) I base in the Black, then paint the source of the power in white (as this will be the hottest area of the blade). I then blend from the White to the Scorpion Green in as small an area as possible (using thin paint really helps with this) and then blend from the green to the Chaos Black along the length of the blade. Once done I edge highlight the green with white, and the black with the green (again blending the white to the green to aid the transition along the edge of the blade). I may use a glaze of Scorpion Green if I am not happy with my blending to tie the whole lot together and re-aply the pure whiter.

2) The lightning crackles on the black area are first painted Scorpion Green, and built up to White. You need a really good brush to achive this as you need to good thinner than the green. The crackles on the green are just painted straight white, but using thin paint a couple of times.

The 'fist is done using a similar principle, only with no black. I paint the whole fist green, leaving a little red/brown showing through the joints and blend it to the red where it meets at the forearm of the fist. The edges of the knuckles are painted white (as these will be the 'hottest' area, and blended down to the green, and lightning added as before.

I have managed to make that sound really complicated I know, but its not too bad as long as you have a failry steady hand, a good brush and thin your paints :) Judging by your Crimson Fists you will have no problem ;)

Midnight you madman!!!

Only joking ^_^ Was a massive fun of your Blood Angels and this just continues the trend. I love the OSL, the weathering is just right, the poses are spot on and I love that you've gone to the effort of making fluff for the squads and army.

I'll be watching this with great interest.

Thanks for the comments Doghouse and Punkfish, fancy an update? The redux continues with......

Squad Kraven (Team Alpha)

Nothing to special, just a couple of tank hunting attack bikes. Designated Team Alpha as I have another two un-assembled which will be, you guessed it, Team Beta. Not my best painting ever, but hey that will teach me to try to repaint assembled attack bikes ;)

I have promised myself not to start painting anything new while I'm reduxing my old stuff (hence no LPC ;) ) but that hasn't stopped me messing around with my Sanguinor/Chapter Master conversion:-

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/5-8.jpg

As you can see, very early stages so excuse the flash, mould lines and copius amounts of blu-tac. Oh and the fact he has no left hand! His right leg will be yucked in a bit more so he he looks more natural and I may not go with the loin cloth and the current head. The idea is I will be able to use the rules for either the Sanguinor or Astorath the Grim for this guy hence the axe version of the Glaive Encarmine.

As usual, comment and critisism welcome ;)

Simply awesome army all around, just one more thing tempting me into the folly of painting Blood Angels again ^_^

As for the new guy, I would go with a different head. Maybe one with hair, like Mephiston. All the other bareheaded guys look appropriately ghoulish, but as a major Special Character leaning more towards the classical Vampire profile may serve to help mark him out just that extra smidge more.

I second the comment about a head with hair, you could make it striking with jet black hair and that beautiful blue flesh tone you have.

Love the attack bikes, I myself have yet to assemble the one I have and in time get two more for the same objective you're doing.

GreAt looking army as I said before, keep going mate.

So that is +2 then for going for long hair for Commander Isiah? Majority rule l guess <_< Any ideas? The Priests' hair is green stuff so I could always go down that route although my skills are pretty basic. I may keep a bionic eye, but I have yet to decide open fanged mouth, or closed so he looks a bit more brooding.

The plasma effects were done as follows:-

Ice Blue as a basecoat

Skull White over the upper part of the power cell

Blend the White down to the Blue on the sides of the power cell.

I then applied a thin coat of Ice Blue over the areas the light would hit. Do this a couple of times over increasingly smaller areas to get a stronger colour. I added a little White as a final highlight.

As for the chapter badge, yes it is freehand. This is because I always seem to get in a fight with transfers and lose  . My freehand isn't great so the best way to improve is to practice! When I next paint one I'll take a few photo's if you want but as to how I do it but it is pretty much like this:-

Paint a pentigon in Fortress Grey

Paint the teeth in Mechrite Red

Skull White over the Grey

Weather to suit

(the White is done after the Grey because I was finding the Mechrite Red was to bright over the teeth and didn't match the armour)

Cheers all!

I haven't seen the new vampire counts stuff yet as I assume the scale may be too small, but I'll have a look at them. Most likely I'll go for a BA head and sculpt some hair which was how I did Brother Lorcan (the Priest). I originally intended a Death Mask and a magnetized infernus pistol to have able to count as Dante too, but I have decided to use a different model using Astorath's wings.

No real progress in the meantime, although I have de-flashed and de-moulded him, and pinned the wings to the jump pack. More soon ^_^

Those attack bikes are lovely - the battle damage really works and the skin tones look perfectly vampiric.

I like the conversion - I'm joining the long haired camp too, although I think that you could do something similar to the Astaroth death mask and get the best of both worlds.

I am absolutely in love with this army.

You do incredible work, MR.

Thanks for the positive comments guys, keeps me motivated to complete the next phase. Trying to stick to the redux despite feeling the pull to more attractive, shiny new models :) Unfortunatly, the Wifey and both kids have been ill this week while although I have stayed clear, it all means an up all night/work all day/a bit knackered to paint come eveningtime type of situation :) I am waiting for the illness to hit me, no doubt at the weekend aswell. Man-flu ahoy!!

@ A D-B - Whoah! Stoked you are impressed mate as I am a big fan of yours, hopefully you read my (poor!) attempts at fluff too without glazing over; maybe us Flesh Eaters will get a small part in a future novel ;) Go on, the thirst cares not for its victims......!

Got a bit of an update for you this week, been greenstuffing Commander Isiah. Still more to do, and some areas need to be sanded, he now sports a Death Company head with LONG HAIR. Yes, peer pressure wins out. The Severed head has had the hair round ther ear tidied up since the photo, at least I think so.

I am planning to run him as either the Sanguinor and Astorath depending on the list. The idea is convert from the Sangy, painting using a palette to enable him to be recognized as Astrogoth also. And the palette in question is similar to my Mephiston conversion for my BA:-

He is an old conversion and hopefully the black armour/red highlights will turn out slightly better :(

As usual, C & C most welcome

  • 1 month later...

Time for a much needed update me thinks......

You may have seen Sword Brethen's excellent Challenge Accepted! thread where you build and paint a tabletop avatar of yourself, well it caught my attention so here was my entry and ugly mug:-

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/y1.jpg

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/xme.jpg

A decent likeness? Maybe not.....

Of course being a Flesh Eater means (even though I am pasty) the skin tone won't do so here if he is to fit in with the rest of my boys so here I am without my make up on:-

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/z0.jpg

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/z2.jpg

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/z3.jpg

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/y4.jpg

Anybody notice the ode to Desmodus? He fits in much better now and will be run as either a Captain or more likely as a Vanguard Vet because BA Captain's suck in our HQ choices. In fact he was originally my take on Blood Angel 3rd Co. Captain Machiavi, only he had long hair in that previous incarnation. He will get a sufficiently blinged jumpack when I do the rest of the VV squad after I decide what I am doing with them. Also he needs some static grass.

As far as the rest of my army goes I have been a bit idle as I have joined a gaming club which has had my attention for what little hobbytime I have had. The redux has continued however with:-

The Black Harbingers

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/z4.jpg

Dead men walking, Brothers lost to the rage are readied for their final battle in repainted armour of Midnight Black with Blood Red saltires, with the goal of a glorious death ascending to the Great Angel's side. Those Brothers that are unable to find a worthy foe are eventually consumed in the Sacrificial Feast of the Lost back on the Flesh Eaters homeworld.

Death Co I find very fluffy for FE so there is more to come with these as I also love them in game. My next update should be another lost DC brother with a power weapon for a tute I have been planning for a while. These dudes pretty much round off my infantry redux (save for a few generic HQ's) so its either make a start on my vehicles or finish Decan and his squad. My Furioso is crying out for attention though....

Anyways, as usual C & C welcomed
