They are all magnetized, but I run them as jumpers more often than not nowadays. Poses are a bit static due to half of them used to be a Tactical Squad, so only minor conversions here and there, but hey they are just grunts. Sorry for any poor photo?s too as the light here in good ol? Blighty can be a bit meh this time of year. The close ups, new guys first:-

It has been a while since I updated I know, with Squad Decan finally finished. How come it took so long? Well, apart from the fact I am rarely painting at the moment? The jump packs man, B) jump packs?.hard to get motivated and all (it probably shows on some of them too!). The good news is now I have 30 troops painted for the core of my Flesh Eaters, I can concentrate on the some fun stuff for a bit including my Furioso and two Storm Ravens, but first up will be Valek the Terrible. I also plan on magnetizing my Jaws of Doom and expanding them as a Sternguard, and a new Mephiston counts as. So Stay tuned! Edited by Midnight Runner

Hey thanks for the comments guys, its good to be back posting stuff :)

As I said now the grunts are done, it is on to more fun stuff. No update with Valek, although painting has begun, but we have my Furioso. As a veteran from my Blood Angels log some of you may recognize him, he has had a few changes to re-awaken as a Flesh Eater. He still needs a few more chains and skulls I think, and will have a back banner. All weapon options are magnetized:-

Next up is some work on the Jaws of Doom, these are Sternguard and are not magnetized as some of the other squad members will be (who are able to switch roles). Quite pleased with the first guy:-

Second guy with heavyflamer (lots of greenstuff needed:-

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/DSC02227.jpg

With parts kindly donated by Biohazard (Thanks mate!). Head was originally going to be used for my Mephy conversion but as Bio says the scale is slightly off. I am feeling the same here, I want to like the head but not sure it fits in and may just swap to a Beaky. Opinions? The dead guy on the base will be mmmm...crispy :P

Finally, GW see fit not to supply us with combimeltas en masse so I have produced one of my own which I think looks pretty decent. I did use a tute for most of it but added my own twist here and there and made it Sternguard-esque:-

Better view:-

The melta barrel is from an infernus pistol which as a BA player I have loads of, and is a better fit than its full sized brother.

Next update will be Valek if I have a good hit at the painting this weekend. Anyways, as usual C & C encouraged :P

Love the kneeling Sternguard, for the flamer guy I would switch to a beakie probably. Im like you the head has a lot of cool detail but its just a tad too big. Looking forward to these guys being painted. I really need to work on my Loyalists but Im having too much fun with the baddies just now.

Where did you get the torsos for you Lamartes and Dante Love love love those. Also great looking army. Sounds like your Flesh Eaters and my Legio Angelus Mortis would get along just fine. LOL Great to see another BA go to this lengths. Great work keep them coming cant wait to see how you are going to do the stormraven. Love the chaplain and the Mephiston and Sanguinor conversions.

These guys are awesome. They make the Sons of Sanguinius look badass.

I'd cut down the magazine well (where the drum magazine sits) for your combi-melta conversion, the magazine sits higher up, more towards the foregrip of the weapon. It sits far too low at the moment, the feed lip on that thing has to be really long! It's strictly my preference, though. Maybe just below the magazine release?

Cheers!

lol I know what you mean it is hard when you have more than one army on the go, I find it hard to concentrate on any one thing when the ideas get flowing. Thats why I keep my goodies as 'would be baddies'. Yep H/flamer dude will be helmed I think.

Thanks TattooedGreenMan ;) Lemartes is based on the standard jump chaplain with a head swap, and the Dante torso is from FW Sevrin Loth's Honorguard.

You know you are totally right! I hadn't even noticed until you said and now it is glaringly obvious and looks well out of place. I will get on it (good job it is the prototype as well lol). Thanks for the comment :)

Oh man that squad Decan is awesome. I don't see how you rushed them at all. Im a huge fan of your relic dread squashing somethin' looks ;) sweet. Can wait till you paint that guy up. STERNGUARD.. STERNGUARDS! what good is being a flesh eaters not getting into grips with their foe. It would be like playing MW3 on kill confirmed as a sniper!. jk :) nice conversion's of the combi- melta. keep them coming MR.

Thanks for the comments guys, keeping me motivated :)

the kneeling sternguard is almost identical to the replacement tactical marine mentioned in my thread hehe

:cuss  :P I guess if you have come up with it too I must be doing something right!

how do you paint your skin? This would look great on my nightlords...

There is a recipe somewhere in this thread but they do tend to get unweildy so here you go space wolf:-

Base is Space Wolf Grey

Asurman Blue wash*

Highlight with Space Wolf Grey

Further highlight with Skull White added to the grey.

Pure Skull White highlight.

Asurman Blue glaze just to tie them all together*

Once dry apply Baal Red around the eye sockets

Paint the eye itself Golden Yellow (not I did not paint a black dot for the iris ;) )

Kudo's goes to Pig of Sparta really, as it is his recipe 'borrowed' from the painting/modelling tutorials.

Here is the LINK

*Got to say though, for Night Lords I would perhaps test out Leviathan Purple instead of the Blue wash as it will contrast against their blue/black armour, as it is the blue I like against the red armour as it makes them stand out (sorry I use the old GW line of colours they will be something else now).

Cheers bro, glad you approve! lol @ the Sternies, they are necessary with the new edition as they will be my anti-anti air, ie they will pod down to make a mess of the nearest AA to allow said Dreadnought to be dropped via Stormraven to get blending foes of the Flesh Eaters to a fine mist, which can be bottled to wash down the fleshy lumps that remain of the Sternies targets, which will make a nice lunch.

Got a fair bit of painting done on Valek this evening so hopefully get a pip shot for you tomorrow

lol @ Cretheus I know, I know part of the problem was deciding whether to paint him red or DC black as well as getting the grunts done first. But they are done now, fun stuff ahoy!

Thanks Darth, he still needs a little more work (in the form of trophys and maybe a few stray body parts around his base!) and I need to fix his banner (it is magnetized but fell apart during the heat of battle :cuss )

I'd say a red colored dread with the FE white strip on the helm would look ace. and loads of gore. He's too sweet to get painted in all black.
