Phenomenal MadDoc, love the elbows.

Ever consider adding the medieval knight feet ala:

Actually, I had been thinking I should do something with his feet (adding stylised sabatons of some sort), but I hadn't thought of that. It would add a nice little extra knightly feel though, thanks for the idea. :)

Another whirlwind update.

Here are Amael's new sabatons...

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000781_close.jpg

...and the start of his power plant.

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000774_close.jpg

I also have a quick request related to the power plant - does anybody have any of the Forgeworld Mk IV power plants that they could take front, back and side pics of (preferably next to the stock GW power plants for scale)? I know its a big ask, but I really need better reference pics than the FW site provides, as I want to make sure the plant is scaled correctly (attention to detail strikes again). :ermm:

Thanks in advance to anybody that is able to help with the reference pics.

I can do that no problem - when I'm home from work in say... 10 hours? It's about as long it will take me to look at your pics too as they are blocked... :ermm: Heck, I can even send you one if you like! :P I really don't care about them too much... In fact I think they should be bigger! hahahaha!

That would be great.

Really? :P That'd be even better (having a physical reference would mean I could build a few duplicates for other Mk IV builds). If you really wouldn't mind PM me and we can discuss details (I could even possibly be tempted/encouraged to do some sculpted/custom parts in return ;)).

The pics alone will be extremely helpful though. Thank you.

Looking impressive - great skills.

If Capt. S doesnt manage to get the pictures let me know. I have some of the FW packs at home and can upload photos on Fri.

Ok, here we go... I hope the pictures will be helpful. Unfortunately I have yet to take a picture I'm happy with.

Thanks Cap those pics are a big help, as will be your other assistance. I see what you mean about the size as well. Thanks again.

I should really make a start on Gazardiel and his twin blades in honour of a true brother of the Unforgiven... :D

Very excited to see this project coming along. Did you decide on what helm you're using yet for the Paladin?

I'm planning on using a (plastic) Mk IV helmet and adding a sculpted hood (and possibly a small DA symbol on the forehead, that might make the helmet too busy though :P).

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement everyone, it really helps keep up my motivation.

I was worried there for a minute... But Hellenic mail pulled the trick! Hahaha...

Well I'm pretty excited about Gaz! Two swords an'all! AND no helmet! How cool is that!

And your attempt at Greek was spot on mate! You're welcome! :P

I got a bit of a shock when I went out to check the mail, I wasn't expecting it so quickly. ;)

Well I'm pretty excited about Gaz! Two swords an'all! AND no helmet! How cool is that! ;)

The plan is for him to have a nice deep hood too, then when I paint him his face and bionics will be highlighted from the bottom up, with the top in shadow and a single 'glowing' red dot for his bionic eye (his actual eye I'm planning on doing in a muted grey rather than bright white with a space wolf grey spot highlight)... hopefully that conjured the right image for people. :(

Phew. ^_^ Much appreciated mate.

Ask and you shall recieve... update time.

First off, some more minor progress on Amael (apologies for the bad quality pics I couldn't get the camera or lighting to play nice :()...

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000800_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000799_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000797_close.jpg

I really must get the rivets added to his knee pads and sabatons.

And a little pre-emptive painting on Gazardiel to hopefully illustrate the look I'm trying to achieve with his hood...

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000793_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000794_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000795_close.jpg

I plan on knuckling down over the next week or so and, all going well *fingers crossed*, I should be able to get him ready for painting, I just need to work out how I'll do his mantle first. :) Should I have it draped over his power plant and coming forward over his head and pads or should he be wearing it like a cloak, under his power plant and draped forward over his head and pads?

Then I can work on finishing Gazardiel, then on to the Apothecary (I'm thinking his hand (narthecium side) on the hilt of a sheathed sword, bolt pistol in his other hand staring down the enemy, I have yet to decide on whether he'll be wearing his helmet or have it at his belt), Standard Bearer and the fifth member of the squad (I already have a pose in mind for this fellow).

Edit - I'm seriously starting to worry about my concentration, some of my recent flubs go way beyond simple typoes... :cuss

Well, I do have a soft spot for Gaz! The hood is excellently done, looks so right! You're good with this grey stuff aren't you? Now the picture is not 100% clear but I see a metal tube coming out of his mouth? Cool if this is actually the case! Fine if it's not. As far as Amael goes, the helmet makes him look sinister, plain and simple! Good call there!

On one hand I want to see paint on both, on the other I want you to keep adding (grey) stuff...

Just keep going mate, can't wait for the Apothecary with his hand resting on the hilt!

And also, some background for Gaz! :)

Quick update...

Hows this for Amael's sword? More DAesque?

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000802_close.jpg

And a close up on some detail I'm quite pleased with...

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000801_pickups.jpg

Skull pick-ups on the power feeds. B)

Sorry for the rush, but my wife and I are off out for the evening...

Sword's definately more DA-esque for sure! Keep it.

Now any chance of completing Amael by Saturday? You'll get a purity seal in return ;) Sorry for the short notice, I'm making this up as we go along...

Another whirlwind update featuring the beginning of the Mantle.

Here it is as it sits thus far...

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000804_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000805_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000806_close.jpghttp://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa365/MadDocNZ/40K/P1000807_close.jpg

Theres still alot of detail that still needs to be added. Sadly what that means is Amael won't be done in time to earn a Purity Seal. ;) Can't be helped though. Ah well, back to sculpting...

Wow that cloak is looking really nice, also noticed the addition of rivets to the knightly boots if I am not mistaken, rivets are always a good item for space marines.

Very nice progress cant wait to see the finished cloak and that sword attached :)

Great stuff!

Wow man, you are doing some serious sculpting there... This mantle is top notch! You have talent mate. :)

I think you should really take your time, this is too awesome to rush! I think there will be a purity seal waiting for you when (ever) you're done! ;)

Very nice!

I like the simplicity of the cross bar, yet it is more DA-esque than the original. The tiny skull details you did on the sword are simply crazy... you're crazy, sir.

As for the mantle, looking great... I'm sure this is your plan, but it seems you would have to turn the lion head in the same direction the helmet is looking and perhaps remove some of the helmet so it sits lower - or maybe once it's turned, it will be enough for it to sit more flush.
