STCs provided plans for shelters, generators, transports, and other technological items necessary to allow colonists to survive on new worlds without the colonists having any prior in-depth technological knowledge. The equipment could be constructed using almost any locally available materials. For example, the user simply asked how to build a house or a tractor and the computer supplied all the necessary plans. Each group of colonists carried such a system. The search for STCs remains one of the missions of the Adeptus Mechanicus and most current technology is based on designs from rediscovered STCs.SV - 1.
