May as well. I'll also probably need another day or something, we had guests over all weekend and they've only just gone.

EDIT: Definitely need to leave it a couple of days; I'll need to talk to Grim because we've now caught up with each others' characters.

So I was busy doing a few things tonight and only just had a chance to start some writing not too long ago - but I can't keep writing tonight. I posted up a bit - but expect much more up by Saturday night. I'll update here when I've posted again in the thread.

Apologies to Olis and Ninswords for the delay.

I just put in my 2 cents. This is a prelude, until I can get a better feel for the story. Don't click the Titel it doesn't lead anywhere, it was an accident that it happend at all. Hope you guys like. The Battle between Eldar and the Inferno Guard begin!

EDIT: I know I did a day early, but it cam e to my mind and I had to write and share. I'm eager to see where this story goes on Habron VII

Ah my absence from these boards due to marriage made me miss my chance, shame; l definitely be in for the next round of this if all goes well.

I will vote a solid "yes" if the opportunity comes around for you to join; I've read your previous works, it's solid stuff.

Thanks a lot for the kind words guys, I'm flattered ;)

Might go my Red Corsairs then; I'll give it a last edit and upload, I'd be honoured to be considered.

I would say, you should be let in!!! you are a solid writer, compared to you, I would be a whelp!!! Teach me your ways master *gets on knees*, I am your padawan

Name:

Raum Halcius

Rank:

None (formerly Lexicanium)

Age:

27

Chapter:

Red Corsairs (formerly Ultramarines)

Names and Ranks of his chosen:

‘The Genethief’ Lord Hoight Perron, Corpse Taker and Warlord of the Red Corsairs (Leader, formerly Astral Claws); Brother Leng (Marksman, formerly Mantis Warriors); Brother Rulius (heavy bolter, formerly Astral Claws); Brother Gersthuss (formerly 7th Company Champion, Lords of Midnight); Brother Entzmann (battle-brother, formerly Astral Claws)

Combat Style:

Originally part of a much larger warband, the few warriors within Lord Perron’s warband who managed to survive the wrath of the Executioners Chapter are now, by necessity, extremely cautious, and will only engage where no other options are present.

Where combat is required, Halcius will typically charge into melee while wielding his force sword, taking full advantage of his abilities as a seer (his only real strength as a Lexicanium with extremely limited training). He is typically accompanied into close combat by Gersthuss with his hammer and shield, and occasionally by Perron when the Corpse Taker deems it necessary. The rest of the warband, led by dead-eyed Leng, will cover their brethren, and will usually manage to resist the urge to shoot Halcius in the back.

Habits:

Halcius is, in practice, an extremely powerful but incredibly poor psyker, possessing unlimited potential but little usable strength in anything but the ability to predict the short-term future, a fact which gnaws at him constantly. As such, he has the habit of attempting to use his more active powers (limited though they are) in obvious ways that give those watching him the illusion of strength; typically, this takes the form of manifesting a ball of pure psychic energy in his hand or by wreathing his weapon or armour in harmless coloured flame. He will also spend a great deal of time and energy attempting to make the heads of his enemies (and occasionally, his allies) explode, generally with no effect.

He is extremely vain and paranoid, and expends a large portion of his strength attempting to predict the movements of his allies to detect whether they will seek to betray him or, even worse, insult him and his psychic strength where they think he cannot hear. This paranoia has proven somewhat justified, and has managed to save his life from several assassination attempts since joining the Red Corsairs, and has also led to several killings of a rather less defensive nature, beginning with his mentor within the Librarium of the Ultramarines.

Strengths:

1. Halcius is an excellent swordsman, and wields his stolen force sword to deadly effect when combined with his predictive powers.

2. Those same powers allow him enough of a glimpse into the future to occasionally turn the tide of a battle, though he cannot typically see more than a minute or two ahead, and struggles to view anything outside of a small radius around himself. He occasionally manages to accomplish things with his psychic powers far outside the usual realms of his control, but these are typically random and often as deadly to himself as to his enemies.

3. Despite the hatred felt for him by many of his ‘brothers’ within the Red Corsairs, Halcius is also a fine leader and tactician, and held the remnants of the warband together while Perron recovered from the severe injuries he suffered at the hands of Sergeant Fenan Husq of the Executioners.

Weaknesses:

1. Halcius has a great amount of raw strength as a psyker, but has completely failed to utilise it. He cannot act as a prognosticator, despite having the ability to see into the future, and his offensive powers are such that a bolter is far more efficient in combat. Furthermore, this great potential strength, when combined with the fact that he has undergone only limited training and does not possess a psychic hood, means that Halcius is in extreme danger of daemonic influence; a fact of which he is all too aware.

2. Halcius has a typical Ultramarine’s disdain for all things renegade and chaotic. He joined the Red Corsairs only to escape the wrath of his former brothers, and despises the Astral Claws and their ilk as weak traitors. He especially loathes those who show signs of corruption such as Leng and Rulius. He has not endeared himself to his new allies at all, and has been the target of several assassination attempts. He does not think to support his squadmates in combat, and in turn they do not act to guard him or watch his back.

3. Halcius burns with the fire of youth, which has only been further enflamed by his power and prowess with the sword. He is arrogant, brash, and cocksure, and yet is also paranoid and possessed of an inferiority complex so great that it caused the betrayal of his former Chapter.

Appearance:

Halcius wears a full suit of Mark VIII Errant armour, painted in the crimson and black of the Red Corsairs. All signs of his status as a Librarian have been removed (he never possessed a psychic hood), and the only insignia of the Ultramarines that remains to him is a defaced symbol upon his left pauldron.

He wields an obsidian-bladed force sword dubbed Mourningstar, stolen from the forbidden vaults of the Chapter Fortress on Macragge. He also carries a standard bolt pistol and a gladius strapped in a hidden sheath on the inside surface of his power plant.

Beneath his helm, Halcius has a handsome face, thin and aquiline in a way that avoids the appearance of gigantism experienced by some Space Marines. His blonde hair, once shaved short, has begun to grow out and frames eyes the same shade of blue that once coated his armour.

(Extremely) Brief history:

Halcius, whom it was once said had as much psychic potential as any recruit the Ultramarines had seen in their history, had spent years of frustration within the Chapter Librarium attempting to break through his mental blocks with little success, finding only that he had an aptitude for limited prediction of the near future but consistently failing at all other tasks. Finally, after a particularly gruelling regime of fasting and penance, Halcius snapped, murdering the Epistolary overseeing his training in a fit of pique when the older Librarian despaired at the lack of progress being made and suggested that he should be returned back to normal duties or rendered into a servitor.

Fleeing the Chapter in first a stolen Thunderhawk and then aboard a hijacked freighter, Halcius made his way to the Maelstrom and fell in with the Red Corsairs, joining the warband of Lord Perron due to the old former Apothecary being known as a warlord who actively recruited renegades from other Chapters. Initially thought to be a prize recruit due to his status as a Librarian, Halcius soon became the object of much ridicule within the warband when the inherent weakness of his powers became widely known.

After their near-destruction at the hands of the Executioners, however, Halcius finally proved his worth, taking control of the warriors and leading the retreat while Perron still lay comatose upon a surgical slab. For his efforts (and, it must be said, due to a lack of other options), Halcius became the (grudging) second-in-command of those few Red Corsairs who survived the purge…though many of them would be just as happy to put a bolter round through the back of his skull whenever the opportunity should arrive.

Ships:(NPC)

Claws of the Tyrant – a Hunter-class Destroyer and the personal vessel of Hoight Perron. Created in the shipyards of Badab during the War for use by the Tyrant’s Legion, the Claws of the Tyrant was specially (and heretically) designed to be able to house several more Space Marines than is typical in a vessel of its size and class.

Now, however, she is little better than a drifting hulk, the majority of her crew and Red Corsair compliment dead after the ruthless attack by Executioners forces prowling the edge of the Maelstrom.
