I'm pretty new around here but would like to document the progression of my future Templar army. The army itself will be 1500pts and is based around The Donian Crusade. http://i.imgur.com/6VfHA.png "The Donian Crusade was carried out by the Black Templars Space Marine Chapter beginning in 985.M39 to combat the swelling Ork population sweeping through the Donian Sector and surrounding wilderness space in the southern Segmentum Pacificus. In the early years of the crusade the Black Templars liberated a small forge world in the sector from millions of Orks preparing to salvage it for their nefarious purposes; As a token of their appreciated the forge's artificers fashioned enough armour to equip all brothers in the crusade with unique Templar-Branded Errant torso plating and helmets to represent their knight origins. During the crusade the brothers Lazarus, Heinman and Gotchalcus sought to gain the Marshal's favor through their mixtures of zealous fury and wisdom of warfare; hoping to be uplifted to the Marshal's Household, to become one with the legendary Sword Brethren. Marshal Austein saw great futures for all three brother initiates, proposing to High Marshal Helbrecht that he use the opportunity to see whom was most befitting of becoming a part of the chapter's most honored. Each were to take their own initiative and lead a squad of venerated brothers into whichever part of the war they felt would bring the best and most glorious of victories. It is unclear how, but all three squads of venerated brothers arrived at the destroyed remains of what was once a beautiful cathedral to the glorious Emperor of Mankind; The Orks having destroyed most of it in an attempt to convert it into a bastardized forward operating base. Brother Heinman's vox-caster spurted to life, “This most holy of grounds has been contaminted with the xenos filth. We must return it to the Emperor's light!” and with the precision timing expected from Space Marines, they all boomed at once “WE WILL EXPUNGE IT FOR DORN! FOR THE EMPEROR!” After 28 hours of bloodshed, Lazarus had bested the Warboss, the choir of chainswords to Ork flesh had ceased as hundreds of Orks began their retreat. “This is not right, Orks do not retreat; They only die...” Lazarus peered to the horizon as the Orks slowly dissappeared behind, he knew more was coming. From the smoke behind them appeared a large figure, clad in Tactical Dreadnought Armor, his ornate skull mask representing the death that was dealt so harshly by the holy chaplain. “I am Leuter; With me is an army of the Marshall's best. In regards to tying them all together, I gave them all almost identical armour sets with little differentiation to show they are a uniform fighting force using armour that just bleeds the feel of being a Black Templar. Yeah, I bought out a lot of sites to get them, ended up getting about 60 of them... same for the champion shoulder pads - 'tis an expensive endeavour I need some help! Had to browse a bunch of bits stores daily, it costs quite a lot to get them in bulk though as most places sell the pair for about $4-7. I had to scour eBay and bits stores for about a month and a half to get all 50 of them, patience works brother. For the two handed chainswords, they're the Grey Knights two-handed falchions with the sword chopped off and a chainsword pinned in place. I cut it just above the cable, and attached the chainsword where its power pack is to the sword's power pack, makes it beefier. Dono1979 Posted June 7, 2012 Share Posted June 7, 2012 The Drop Pod upgrade had to be warmed up a little and bent back into shape as per normal with resin, but the the end result was a very snug fit. And I have found that after painting them the doors now actually 'click' closed due to the studs on the extra armour, I am pretty happy with them and was more than a little disappointed that I couldnt get a set for my Lucius Drop Pod. -Dono Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dirt Diglett Posted June 7, 2012 Author Share Posted June 7, 2012 Just wanted to share an interesting tidbit I've noticed with the Forge World parts that arrived today; Half of them came in the good ol' baggies, but some of them came in fancy new plastic blister packs, one of these being the templar icon set. It doesn't appear to be made of the normal resin everything else is made from - it's more like the stuff Finecast is made from which is a concern... And as you can see in the pictures that follow, it's horrible! Half the icons are so thin they are literally transparent, the small shields are so flimsy one crumbled in my fingers after this photo... the sprue is so flexible which is why I think it's Finecast material.
